We’re okay until we get to her groin — which is not something a lady usually likes to hear.
If I’m correct, that is a velvet skirt, cut like a denim one from 1983 and then crowned with a ribbon that looks like it used to hold together some hay bales in a distant barn. She’s so PRETTY, and that figure should be so easy to flatter. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING. Even the owl on her shirt appears to feel threatened, like its habitat is endangered by an encroaching furry sweat sack.
However:
Look at that lovely English rose. This is basically a poster for the wonders of a) sunscreen, b) sleep, c) drinking water, d) not prostrating yourself to a spray tan bottle, and e) being Michelle Dockery. At least we can try for the first four.

This does not work… at all. English rose or not!

nope, doesn’t work, but I kind of like the owl, if it were allowed to live freely on her torso. Also: THAT FACE.
Also f) having extremely well groomed eyebrows.
I have long been smitten with her beautiful eyebrows.. and face. It doesn’t matter what she wears as long as she looks like that. and doesn’t dress like Rhanna or another trollop.
I am IN LOVE WITH her eyebrows. They’re so EXPRESSIVE. And gorgeous. And unusual, but perfectly suited to her face.
She’s just so pretty that it makes me happy.
Wow – she looks SO.PRETTY with her hair down!!! Go Lady Mary!!!
(However, I hate her outfit.)
What’s going on with her bra? It looks strange how she is concave in the center there, like she doesn’t have a breastbone at all.
I think that’s just the weight of the beading pulling it down. I have a similar shirt that I don’t wear very often because of that same issue. It would be a nice looking shirt if it didn’t make my boobs look weird.
I didn’t even make it to her groin because I was stopped by that mess at her waist: embellished owl-design on her t-shirt bunched over the waistband and the Dale Evans cowgirl looking belt. Then I actually bypassed the groin and skidded to a halt at the funky footwear. Still, her not-so-fun outfit wasn’t enough to discourage my envy of her skin.
Not much need for sunscreen in our rainy English climate….
The owl t-shirt and the funky footwear might have worked if she had paired them up with some cute, well-fitting jeans. I realize she may be at an event where jeans would not have been appropriate, and I also realize that she may not be a jeans-wearing kind of person, but still… I’d rather see anything than that skirt. Lady Mary, how could you?
Omg…her face! I’ve really stopped to look at her face and admire how pretty she is.
I like all the pieces but not together. I also like a good fitting bra, but that seems to be absent here…
She truly is gorgeous…. but that outfit, yikes. The shirt would be ok with something else, I think jeans were mentioned. Not a fan of the shoes or skirt.
I like the owl shirt. I like the colour of the skirt, but not the rest of it. I always knew she was pretty but holy crap in that second picture – she is truly a divine beauty. I’m pale like she is but much more freckly (I like the freckles) and tend to go red (capillaries are close to the surface of the skin I guess) and will probably end up with mild Rosacea like my mom (if I don’t have it already…). Anyway, I already wear a lot of sunscreen and drink lots of water and try to get lots of sleep…but that second picture has definitely given me impetus to do more of the same.
I think the weight of that overly bedazzled owl is pulling the shirt down.
Yikes, better bra, stat!
I like a velvet skirt, but only its natural habitat of lace, updo, fussy blouse involving ruffles, and fancy high heels. The booties might be fun for an outdoor sporting event, but that wretched t-shirt reminds me of those macrame’ owl hangings that populated the 1970′s. Even this gal’s beauty can’t make this haphazard assortment of garments work.
Now I’ve got macrame owl nostalgia … I’m afraid they have positive childhood associations for me. But that T-short will never inspire nostalgia, only relief when it has been lost or abandoned. It would shine shoes real good.
the outfit is buberry prorsum. I kind of like it but the skirt size is a tad to small. It’s not very summerly but I think I will like the colourscheme in say three months!
OMG I am running for a large glass of water right now. Hope it will help! What a beautiful woman Michelle Dockery is!
Doubtless expensive, but it’s still a bedazzled t-shirt. Imagine a white buttondown shirt instead and suddenly it’s a bit autumnal for June, but cute.
I refuse to acknowledge the outfit because I love her so much. For Downton, sure, but also because she was Susan Sto-Helit in The Hogfather and she NAILED IT. It’s a similar character to Lady Mary, really.
Yeah, I refuse to acknowledge it too, because she is the inverse of the bland, soulless Boobs Legsley farther down the page. Dockery is beautiful, intelligent, a fine actress and reputedly a nice girl. No horrible outfit (and this is a doozy) can obscure her light, just as “flawless styling” can’t turn the talentless Lively into something even remotely interesting.
I think the shirt might be a Furby. Gross.
Heinous outfit. Stop doing this to yourself NOW!
I don’t care about the crotch area, but the shoes are fug! I mean MAYBE they would be okay with jeans, but with a skirt that length? Never.
I live in Pennsylvania and I have never heard of a Jimmy Stewart Museum! Maybe a little advertising could help via the Internet and some local advertising on Public TV?I love this , So does My boyfriend .he is almost 11year older than me .i met him via agelover.c/0`M a nice place for seeking age le ss love.which gives you a chance to make your life better and open opportunities for you to meet the attractive young girls and treat you like a king. Maybe you wanna check it out or tell your friends.. Just love it
Kate Bosworth wore something a very similar Burberry outfit. (last year?)
I don’t think the summery top works with the heavy skirt and shoes. It looks unbalanced.
Her beauty distracts from noticing pretty much anything.
This seems to me a sad attempt to replicate this:

And very, very unsuccessfully, English Rose or no.
I think you’re right on all points. It’s like one is a funhouse-mirror version of the other. How very bizarre.
I fell asleep the other night watching the very first episode of DA, and dreamt I yelled at Michelle for wearing this owl teeshirt.
She gave me one of her great Lady Mary dirty looks…
