Emmy Awards and etc: Mostly Well Played, Julia Louis-Dreyfus

well-played

We got to chat up Elaine here briefly on Sunday, in the course of which I (unintentionally) got her to say, “GET OUT” into my phone. I NEED to make it my text message alert, because she said it really deadpan. Next Emmys, I’m getting her to do the Elaine Dance, I swear to God.

She seems to have been having a bad hair week, but I loved her Emmy gown. Is she as ridiculously ageless in person as she appears in photos?

She looks fantastic in each of those. I love the tangerine mini dress, and the both black ensembles as well. Just perfectly put together. And my gosh she is ageless.

I think the first dress is awesome. It reminds me of a suspension bridge.

Love the first dress but I think the hair is a bit severe – but it matters not, because she’s such a fox. Props to her for whatever she’s been doing (or not doing) to stay so youthful and vibrant.

I just have to mention that I really miss her on New Christine. I think I have every episode memorized and I STILL watch it.

She looks great in the Emmy dress as well.

love all the Seinfeld references. If you could do a future post on her in the voice Jerry used to animate his girlfriend’s belly button (HELLO la la la…) that would be awesome.

When I first saw the coral Tadashi Shoji I liked it, but it’s really the weakest of all the looks here.

Lord knows 51 isn’t old, and she wasn’t exactly plain to begin with, but Julia’s one of those great women I admire so much for wearing their own faces as they age. It says a lot about their characters, doesn’t it?

The first one is meh, I don’t like the bodice at all. Someone mentioned a suspension bridge … yep.

The rest are nice, no complaints. And she is ageless isn’t she?

God I loved Elaine. Possibly my favourite sitcom character ever. I would die for “Get out!” as my ring tone. And her version of “These pretzels are making me thirsty.”

I, too, LOVE Elaine Benes and Julia. Her Emmy gown fits her beautifully and is pretty but it’s not knocking me out. Maybe it’s the color – is it plum? Anyhoo, I have to say ,what is up with the hair? Kind of school marmish. I know she has great hair-maybe it was wrangled like that because of the heat.

I don’t like dresses where they have eyelids over their boobs.

This dress is almost perfect. I just thing the draping over the hips makes her look more pear-shaped than she is.

I don’t hate the reddish striped sparkly dress, but I wish it didn’t have that sheer section and silly little collar at the top. The Emmy dress is ok, but I’m not wowed by it. I love that last one, and yes the shoes are perfect.

I really like that orange dress, actually.
The belt on the last one is droopy and it’s really distracting.

I think the bronze dress would work better on a taller person, but it’s a lovely design.

Ditto to all the ageless beauty comments, BUT in pic #3 she looks a dead ringer for one of the Real Housewives.

I love the design and fit of the Emmy dress, but don’t love the color. It’s a bit drab. Maybe better in person?

I’ve never watched Seinfeld, so I don’t get the references! I like the Emmys gown and LOVE the 2nd & last outfits… Those are FAB!

I love the Emmy dress! A bracelet would have made a nice addition, but I think it would have snagged on the delicate fabric and ripped it or something. She/her stylist was probably just being practical?

All the first one needs is a softer hairstyle, although a slight contrast between the sheer and the lining might improve it, a la Hayden P. The last is perfect; the rest are ruined by inappropriate sheerness.

I’m not a fan of her Emmy dress. Its almost trying to wrap in her hips too much and makes them look bigger than they probably are. She is truly excellent though.

the best thing about this is that you guys have confirmed just what a wonderful human being julia is. she rocks, and would in a potato sack.
