Apparently, Drew here — promoting Everybody’s Fine, a movie I had no idea even existed, with a title that inspires absolutely no curiosity in me because, hey, if everybody’s fine, then I don’t need to pay $13 to check in with them — is wearing one of Victoria Beckham’s creations.
Time was, if we’d heard Posh would be designing clothes, we’d be girding our loins for leopard-print corsets attached to a skirt made of one linen napkin and a riding crop, a tutu made of soccer balls, or some kind of actual high-fashion loin-girder constructed from leather and three kitchen knives. Seriously, rewind to 2005, and ask yourself if you’d have envisioned this dress when someone said the words, “Designed by Victoria Beckham.”
Some of Posh’s other stuff is quite pretty, but this one is leaving me cold. It’s very Walking Up The Aisle At A Winter Wedding, While Making Eye Contact With Hot Single Groomsman No. 2. I’m not entirely sure if the bodice fits, and the length is very stumpifying. I want it to be shorter. Indeed, as much as Drew has quirked it up lately to a level that is confusing to me (I will never understand the skunk dye job, for instance), this seems so tame that her very Drewness, that lively spirit, has gotten lost in its stodgy eggplant embrace. Woe. Indeed, I started this post as a Fug or Fab, and then realized I’d written the entire thing without very much optimism for the “fab” vote.
Eh, might as well put it to a poll anyway.

I saw this dress from another angle (maybe on Huffingtonpost) and it looked great. I had no idea Posh was designing for people other than those sized “Posh.” I’m impressed.
I just have one important question that needs answering: Why is her right breast being skewered?! Fashion and torture devices do not necessarily go together, Posh.
I’m giving Drew a shout out to her pretty face and de-skunkified hair. Frop the chest up, she looks rather lovely. That dress, however, is much too long! Make it knee length, or full on floor length, I don’t understand the just above the ankles stumpiness. Also, some cute strappy sandals in a patent leather or shiny metallic would be far nicer. Maybe it’s the angle, but they look like hooves.
First of all, I don’t even get all the fuss about Drew Barrymore.
Second, like the Project Rungay boys said, the problem seems to be fit and length–on Drew. On someone super skinny like Posh herself, the length would have been workable.
Very bridesmaid. Lose the drape on the front, shorten, add some sparkly sandals, you’re in business.
It just doesn’t fit. Drew looks pretty, but the dress is too long (or too short) and too big in the bodice. Doesn’t it look like she’s got her arms clenched to her sides to keep it from falling down? Also, yeah, the shoes seem totally last minute ‘oh hell I forgot to figure out what shoes to wear, might as well go with plain and black and hope nobody notices them.
I feel like it needs some major tailoring. Shortened, of course, but nipped in tighter at the waist and bust. It either needs to be sex kitten painted on, or on the floor in the “NO” pile.
I could see this on Posh – in fact, we probably have seen her in mid-leg length dresses. All Drew had to do was pop/put her hands on the hip, add the pout, and switch to some HOT shoes.
It looks like it’s being held up by the pin pierced through her boob.
Needs to be way tighter! It looks too big, but if you cinch it all over and lose 4 inches in the hem it would be great. Drew probably wanted to eat therefore, she went with the ‘sack’ tailoring.
Aside from being far too long, and as others have mentioned, bridesmaid appropriate, it’s hanging strangely on Drew. It’s not fitted correctly, making her look as though she has no figure and like her shoulders are too large for her body. The pin is the straw that broke the camel’s back for me. A well placed pin can look good, but I associate pins and brooches with grannies.
The shoes aren’t making me very happy either, nor is Drew’s make up and hair. But really, better make up and hair wouldn’t do much to save this outfit, and the hair is a step up from that backcombed mess from a few months back.
The fit isn’t right, it’s a few inches too long, and the shoes aren’t doing her any favors. Fix those things, it might have been an amazing look.
I think her face and hair and makeup look gorgeous, and I actually like that rich color on her, and even the strangeness of the hatpin/arrow ornament on her boob, like she’s a kid’s drawing of a heart pierced by an arrow (but she should have gone bigger–I mean Steve Martin arrow-through-the-head big on that geegaw), but the length is unflattering. Demureness, unless it is ironic, just doesn’t suit Drew.
Love the color and the style of the dress in general. Hate the pin, dress length, and fit on Drew. This is salvageable, though. Oh, and the shoes are a nightmare with this dress. Looks like she’s had her feet bound.
The color is very becoming. However these things must be changed pronto:
1. Take that pin off your boob. It adds nothing to this outfit.
2. Shorten the dress. It looks way to “bridesmaidsy” at the current length.
3. Change those shoes. Something strappy would be great.
Its not a total loss; it just needs some fine tweaking is all.
I can’t honestly vote on this. The color is pretty on her and the dress doesn’t look that bad. It just doesn’t appear to fit properly. Maybe if it was fitted I could judge better but right now she just looks like a little girl playing dress up.
The original dress (they show it on Tlo) is a little shorter (just below the knee) and the top has a more structured shape. It’s a cute dress, but Drew did bad, bad things to it.
I’m ignoring the dress, but the movie has Sam Rockwell, so I feel compelled to see it.
I chose the “It’s fine if it’s knee-length…” option, becuase I in fact HAVE this dress in knee-length, and it cost $70 at EXPRESS two years ago. The dress would be fine shortened and fitted properly up top, but Posh should definitely not be designing anything that looks like it could come from Express.
The top is two sizes too big, and the skirt NEEDS to be above the knee. At least. Different shoes, and lose the ornate hat pin. Add a chunky bracelet with some interest, or a necklace (not both). Kudos on the hair and makeup, though!

Oh oh, a tough one. I love Drew and never ever thought I would say this, but also love Vickie’s dresses!
And I am siding with the gorgeous purple dress today. The orginal is fantastic, just below the knee, wonderful tight tailored fit and gorgeous structure bodice. So Drew, with the righ curvy shape for this dress, has a lot to answer for making it looks so saggy and dowdy IMO.

The problem here is the material. Satin is an evil fabric with few legitimate applications, as you have accurately observed before. Here satin is diabolically giving a bold color and a flattering cut a very hard time proving their point, by highjacking them to its little, tired old bridesmaid fantasy. I don’t think this dress makes Barrymore look stumpy. The pin is disturbing. Look, Drew Barrymore is Western female charisma personified; ergo I am not culturally equipped to begrudge her very much. That doesn’t mean I will ever see one of her movies. They’re not my speed. But it does mean that in matters Drew, it’s all more or less good. Especially good here is the lovely make up (And how awesome would it be to go through life with that great face?), and her beautiful broad shoulders.

There is something strange going on with the bodice, as if it is planning to unwind, or whirl Drew to the side.
Even that would be OK were it not for the pin, which is placed so that it looks as if it is piercing her nipple inside the dress. Ouch!

If you check out the original version of this dress on Posh’s site, its supposed to fall just below the knee. Maybe in Drew’s world ‘just below the knee’ is synonomous with ‘just above the ankle’? Which takes it from a smart & sassy Betty Draper look to…the boob-harpooned train wreck we have here. sigh. why drew, why?

The bodice bothers me. Maybe because the satin is picking up light in a way that makes it appear baggy when it isn’t. Which leads me to problem number 2: it’s satin and I’m not a fan, especially if that satin is purple (problem #3). And yet somehow, with all of these problems, it’s still boring. Even if I don’t understand what Drew is wearing, I appreciate that she is rarely boring. She deserves better than this.
Unfug: a heavy matte fabric, hemmed at the knees. If the fabric is right, the purple can stay.

I actually like the color and even the shantung like texture of the material. As for what the dress looks like on Posh’s site, obviously this is a case of different bodies wearing things differently. The dress length is tea length on Drew. Tea length implying that it would be good for a tea or daytime function. This dress doesn’t fall into either of those categories so it should have been hemmed/altered or another dress chosen seeing as the overall fit isn’t good. The shoes are the worse part though. I like the idea of the pin but it needed to be bigger.
Drew needs to smack her stylist around until s/he swears upon Obama’s firstborn that Drew will never, ever, ever again have to wear a dress as ill-fitting as this one. It’s way too big, and it sits and stops and starts in the wrong place pretty much every-fricking-where.

The color is gorgeous on her, but the length definitely leaves something to be desired. If it were just below knee length, and maybe a touch more fitted, it would look better. And different shoes…strappier, maybe.
She TOTALLY looks like a bridesmaid. That dress needs to either be shorter or longer. Pick one. And could she not pick a lipstick that matched the general color scheme of her outfit? A nice berry or mauve would have been so much more pleasant than the bright red.
