Fab or Fine: Amy Adams

fug-or-fab

Y’all know I have been less than enamored of Amy’s outfits lately. And in one case, I think maybe I tried too hard to like it because I was sick of that blah wah-waaaaah feeling. Tell me: Am I doing the same here? Or is this actually good?

The color is a nice rich red, and she doesn’t look stumpy, and the fit seems precise. But I freely admit I might just be hypnotized by her cascade of titian tresses, which is basically its own Pantene ad. The longer I look at her face, the more I wonder if she needed to stop doing the exact same makeup she does every other day for every other type of event, and branch into a red that plays with the dress… but then again, I am someone who doesn’t know HOW to do any makeup other than mascara and whatever lip gloss I just found in my purse, so what do I know?

What do YOU know?

I think Amy Adams is just one of those actresses who is really in it for the acting, and not the fame. She always looks terrified on the ride carpet. I think the biggest improvement here is that it looks somewhat plausible that she’s happy to be there!

This is a little better, which is odd because I think many of us feel that she looks best in a modern, structured silhouette.

But I have to admit that from the left side, this works for me. Views from other angles, including straight on, reveal problems (maybe something fixable with spanx or something but I am very anti-girdle, so I don’t know). But, I like the openness here of her neck and arms; it’s really flattering–I had no idea she had such great arms. The color is terrific. Her hair and face are divine. Her hair is utterly magnificent. It’s perfect here.

Great color on her, but it’s a pretty standard issue Homecoming dress.

I am too distracted by the way this angle makes it look like she is hovering there, smiling widely and hoping the dress is long enough that nobody realizes she has no feet.

    But the color is nice.

    She looks SO young here!

    Glamorous nightgown.

That is a fantastic dress on her. If only she had worn some jewelry and her makeup was a bit stronger and her hair looked more done instead of I-just-let-my-hair-air-dry-today-because-I-didn’t-feel-like-blowdrying-it, then this would have been her best look in a long time.

I’m so distracted by her “smile” – it looks to me like she’s grinding her teeth – that I don’t know I can judge the dress on it’s own merits.

more ‘feh’ than either ‘fab’ or ‘fine’ – if only because it’s an improvement over her usual missteps featured on GFY & the green backdrop does extra wonders for her red dress.

It is okay. I will never forgive her for ruining Julie/Julia by wearing a wig.

I’m enamored from the waist up, and a little bored by the rest. Maybe I need to see her move in this…

The dress makes her look thin and 7 feet tall. Color is beautiful on her. I say win.

I almost love it but disagree about the fit. I think it’s too big.

I feel about this outfit the way I feel about her. I want to like it, but it’s just not that interesting or good at its job as it should be.

amy has lost at least 20 pounds. wow. she’s so light now, she appears to be levitating.

This is so a run-of-the-mill bridesmaid dress trying hard to be “edgy” (with the one spaghetti strap). Yeah, the color is rich, but it also looks cheap and straight out of the fabric shop. The 70′s long hair isn’t helping matters, either.

She has a nice body, she seems tallish – is she too poor to hire a stylist, or what?

I have the same coloring as her, and exactly the same hair (same light red, same length, same thickness). And THIS is why I never wear red!

The deep red makes her hair look… not red. If she’d worn a teal or cobalt her hair would look flaming red, but in this gown her hair looks more of a gold than a red, and not a bright gold either. Red is such a difficult color for redheads, she needs to leave it to the real experts.

This is the wrong red for her. She needs a blue based red, not an orangey red. And, as others have said, this is a nightie or a bridesmaid dress. She can do better.

Why does Amy look like somebody just stuffed ice into her bra?
Also, that dress is really “meh”. She could do better.

I love the colour with her hair and I quite like the dress, but it’s a little bit more ‘lazy day going to the beach’ than an event where she was expecting to be photographed. Was her hairdresser caught in traffic?

I agree with meh and needing joolery. And just hiring a (better) stylist. And thank you for writing enamored OF. Props for good gramma, ladies

i love how you spelled “joolery”. But I think she looks amazing and the dress looks comfortable and I covet her hair.

I feel I should add the disclaimer: I love her hair.

BUT for this dress to work as well as it could it needs hair up and stronger make-up. As is it’s nice, she’s gorgeous always, but MEH.

I think she’s been hitting it out of the park lately! Someone got her a team of “people” to make sure she’s toned, her hair and makeup are perfect plus she looks really happy too! I love her….Go Amy!

I think that the idea of the dress is not bad… But it lacks a lot of details, actually it looks like a 5 years old dress… She should lift her hair and let us see the nice shape of the dress from the top, and she can have a curl of hair from the right side to cover the asymmetry of the dress, the make shouldn’t necessarily be RED lips, it can be smoky eyes and Red Nails Polish … There’s a lot of things we can do to improve this outfit… It’s a good base but not a complete celebrity look :http://www.katagogi.com/mid339525
