I had to pick this photo. Her facial expression is too funny:
Like, “what? You got a problem with this outfit? Bring it.” Anna, there are a lot of things about you that I don’t have a problem….this sentence is veering into a weird syntactical place. Let’s just say that I like MANY things about you, Ms Kendrick. I love those shoes. I watched What to Expect When You’re Expecting on the plane on the way home from New York and I thought you were good in it. I also felt that entire movie was better than it had a right to be, and I might have cried a little at the resolution of J Lo’s story, in part because of decreased air pressure in my brain. I like that you are the best part of the Twilight movies, and I am pretty sure I am going to watch Pitch Perfect on cable, like, A LOT. I also like how, if you tripped into a wormhole in time and fell out in the 4os, you could PROBABLY get away with that dress. It’s a little short, but, you know: RATIONING.

She’s at an outdoor event with kids. I think she looks cute and appropriate.
She’s actually filming Extra with Mario Lopez. It’s not an event for children, nor is she with those kids — they’re just watching her press event.
Make it a strappy sundress – great! Netting, NO.
Strappy sundresses are a bit 90′s. I think the bustier effect and chiffon sleeves make it modern. I just think it needs another inch of fabric on the hem, and it looks kind of wonky, but maybe that’s just the way she’s standing. Her legs are bit pale, too.
What’s wrong with pale?
Have you seen 50/50 with her and JG-L? She’s very good in that movie, and I’m excited for Pitch Perfect. Comedy AND singing is like having your cake and eating it too!
That is one of my favorite movies, and she was great in it. I have irrational love for her just because of it.
I guess I just wish the whole dress were made of that blue material instead of having the white…whatever that is…on the top. But she looks cute!
Also, Pitch Perfect was so good, you guys.
I love Anna Kendrick. Such a great actress and, although I usually hate musicals (blasphemy, I know), I want to see Pitch Perfect. I LOVED her in Camp and definitely want to see her sing again.
But, yeah, if the dress were strappy instead of netty, that would be better.
Not madly in love with this, but it’s cute enough, and I agree it’s nicely appropriate for an outdoor event with kids. Nice to see an actress who knows how to dress for the occasion!
I fell in love with Kendrick while watching Up in the Air, myself.
For the record, I really like the grades as options!
Dress is “meh,” but what I really love is how natural her skintone is, I love that she’s not artificially tan!
LOVE the shoes, but the dress feels really 90′s to me. I’d really love her hair though!
I had a dress so, so similar to that in about 1989. Almost identical pattern, a little more olive than that; short, flared skirt. But did not have the ugly cream part at top — long sleeves, scoop neck instead. I think it may have been Benetton. Anyway, my point is there has been a point in my life when I was enthusiastically on board with a dress not very different from this. But…well, to be generous I’m not sure the way she’s standing does it any favors.
I don’t mind the netting – I’d call it completely adorbs with 2-3 more inches and a skinny belt, rather than just cute because of the color, setting, and girl wearing it.
It’s just a little too Modcloth for me. Not that I dislike Modcloth, but just that, perhaps, a pretty rich semi-celeb ought to try a little harder than generic-and-probably-overpriced-faux-vintage.
Is it the way she’s standing or does this dress not fit super well? I might be engaging in revisionist history here, but I seem to recall her having fit problems in the past. The dress is whatever.
I’m just glad you picked a photo of her making an actual expression instead of her usual photo face where she’s kind of bearing her teeth.
“Baring,” I mean. Baring her teeth.
I have a songwriter friend who is hella smart but who has a glitch in the spelling region of his brain when it comes to bare/bear. It’s made for some frickin’ HYSTERICAL lyrics, I tell ya.
I love this. Really love it. One of the few things I’ve seen on this blog that I would actually wear. Adore the retro vibe!
There is something about this dress that says Wizard of Oz to me. I wish she was wearing ruby slippers.
Yes! That is just what I thought too. Add a basket and a little dog and she’s good to go.
Really want someone to give her a) a decent dress and b) a role in an awesome movie. She was fantastic in 50/50 and Scott Pilgrim (although a very small role). I feel like she and I could be friends. And I only want the best for my friends and that includes clothes that don’t require saying “BRING IT” when others have comments.
That would be a great outfit if she was TWELVE.
Having looked at the full-size photo, I think it’s the shoes that kill it for me. The dress is actually pretty cute. But I really can’t abide wedge heels like that (I especially hate the jute cord around the wedge). They look cheap no matter how much they may have cost.
FAIL. My complaint is that it looks boring, unoriginal and kind of old-fashioned. The dress also looks like a woman’s version of the old-geezer whose pants are hiked up too high.
Why is this even up for a vote? It’s cute. It fits. It’s short without being gratuitously too short. There’s no side-boob. No butt. And no gynecological exam area inappropriate. What’s not to like?
It looks like she’s an epic fail at jazz hands. : /
I hope this doesn’t count as advertising but…
it’s on sale you guys. I’ve been eyeing it this whole summer.

I am not a fan of the dress, but to the person who said she is semi-rich, are we sure? I doubt she made the same kind of money that Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner did for the Twilight movies. She has only done a couple of others. I’m not saying she’s shopping at Marshall’s or anything, just that perhaps she’s a smart girl and isn’t blowing all of her paychecks at Barney’s.
Also, I too love that she has her natural skintone happening and her legs look like that of a normal human who doesn’t spend the majority of their free time on the leg press machine at the gym.
i like the dress. i like the shoes. but not together.
I like the sass and fit of the dress on her. But the cheap-looking shoes, with the thick ugly orange strap, undo all the good going on above her ankles.
Hate this!! It really doesn’t look cute on her
She has such an old face… poor darling.

She has beautiful skin.
