I feel like this was most recently spotted on the ersatz Natalie Portman character in a self-distributed movie with a surprisingly high wardrobe budget called Super Sexy Star Wars. That being said, I always appreciate China Chow for bringing it. She never looks boring AND she never looks tacky, which means — as far as I am concerned — I can just enjoy her without clutching my pearls and fearing for the Future of Humanity. I appreciate it when people are willing to crawl out on the ledge of sartorial crazy and manage to do it with tipping over into the Vat of Sleazy.

She manages to make a dress that is both hideous and tacky look classy and well, still hideous. And somehow she manages to simultaneously wear the hideous dress while appearing to look great. So she’s almost pulling it off.

Have to agree with Jacquilynne. It’s almost good, maybe if the side cut-outs weren’t… But China Chow looks classy and beautiful.

That last slide. Augh! Augggh! Aaaaagh! What makes me really mad about this is that I really love sharp black-and-whites. They remind me of luxurious tuxedos. This thing? Looks like she’s waiting for someone to stick their arm down there and tuck dollar bills in her boyshorts.

No, this is tacky no matter who wears it. The neck halter and obvious bra are too in-your-face. I like the idea of material unfolding, but maybe on a sleeve, not wide open in front to reveal a bra, like she just scored a winning soccer goal.
Hate it although her face looks quite pretty. Any notes I would have involve more material!

It’s..kind of amazing. I like stark, Rooney Mara-ish things, and I wish I had her SKIN. I hate that the bra top is so low on her. I also loathe the sheer skirt, but even with all its attendant hideousnesses…I like it.
I was almost on board with her pulling it off until I saw the sheer skirt. That is a bridge too far.
Have to agree, I was sliding towards it actually is okay on her but I would never wear it and then the last slide pushed me into the fug column.

Okay sorry – got to GFY late today. I live in the Upper Midwest, but approximately 95% of my friends and family are smack dab in the middle of Frankenstorm. I’ve been tracking power outages and stuff for people today.
Anyway, found the dress. It is a Mugler from the Fall 2011 RTW line. Which was apparently the first show for Lady Gaga’s friend Nicola Formichetti – aka, lead designer for Haus of Gaga – as the designer, so Gaga herself was on the catwalk. (And it probably explains a lot – can’t you see this on Lady G?)

I can almost handle it except for how it’s playing with her proportions. That neckline makes it look like there’s acres of chest between neck and boobs, meaning her boobs look like they’re on her, like, upper stomach.
That’s pretty much my problem with it, too. It almost looks good (on her, though probably no one else), but it looks like the bra part is sitting too low. It makes me feel uncomfortable for her breasts. Ugh.

She doesn’t wear “clothes”, for her everything she puts on her body is a work of art and I can appreciate that! So, I’m fine with her wearing this because she looks beautiful and it totally makes sense on her! But, when I saw her navel and her panties, I thought “Couldn’t they just line it?” At least she’s not wearing a thong or going commando!
