Jennifer Garner had her baby boy just about six months ago, and I LOVE that she didn’t charge back into the gym two weeks later and demand to turn into Sydney Bristow in six weeks or less. She just looks healthy and pretty and normal, like she’s bouncing back naturally and sanely and REGULARLY — as in, the opposite of all those hellacious tabloid covers in which celebs are trumpeted for throwing money at meal deliveries and trainers so they can get back their bikini bodies in as little time as possible, like that’s a thing we should all prioritize and then magically do. So I love J.Gar, is what I’m saying, and I hope Ben Affleck does too even though he’s always in hiding whenever she goes anywhere.
That said, what about her styling here? Click on so we can talk through our feelings.

It must have been a trick of the light or something, cause in that first photo she looks like she’s wearing moldy pantyhose.
Probably bad light. I thought the first picture was from 1998, the lighting made the hair/makeup/coloring look VERY dated to me.
She looks like just an average pretty woman – and I mean that in a nice way. Like, if my friend showed up to a wedding looking like her, I’d say, “You look fabulous!” and mostly mean it. That said, she’s an exceptionally cute girl, and I’m not sure that’s coming through here. I do love the color of the dress, but a v-neck would have solved my issues with it.
My thoughts exactly.
Speaking as a small-breasted woman who had a baby and then suddenly sprouted ginormous boobs, the v-neck may make her feel a bit self-conscious. If she’s breastfeeding, she’s probably wearing a maternity bra and may not have liked the look of it with a v-neck.
That being said, I think she looks great. Like a normal woman who’s trying to suck in her baby belly. The shoes, however, are really ugly and look hella uncomfortable.
Yeah, the neckline is weird, it stumpifies her neck and makes her shoulders look really broad, which is not true. I think if it were just slightly drapier or cut just one inch lower or something it would be really gorgeous. Right now it looks good, yet vaguely uncomfortable and slightly linebacker-ish.
I am neutral on the shoes.
The Knights who say Ni have their own Wiki page? That’s awesome! Also, that movie is how i learned the word “shrubberies” – one of my favorite words of the English language
I wanted to vote “Yes! But the shoes are making me stabby.”
I agree with Fawn… hate the shoes but like everything else… It’s refreshing to see that she hasn’t changed.
I think somebody stuck her over in the bushes to get a shot in theme to the new movie (which I am wildly wanting to see, if I can get a friend’s 2 kids to go with me, cause DH said no way). I think she looks naturally gorgeous and radiant (agree, a deep v on that dress might be a better look). And it can’t be said enough…..ABS!
There are other shots floating out there in the internet that are less kind to her figure in this dress, so I’m sort of judging the dress on those other photos, too. I think the color is great on her. Really lovely. And I love her gumption for attempting a fairly body-conscious dress. But I think the top is too constricting, I almost always think ruching is the wrong choice, and ultimately, I don’t think it’s that flattering for her at this point in time.
I think she’s sneak-attack beautiful, though. You don’t realize how above normal she is until you really look at her face.
Also, I think I might like the shoes. I would totally love them but for the satin fabric. But I like the overall shape of that one horizontal strap at the toe. But I think I might have terrible shoe taste, so don’t listen to me.
She is BEAUTIFUL! And, I also love that she looks like she just had a baby, whom she’s obviously still breastfeeding… Hello BOOBS! The dress is nice, its design hides a lot of imperfections and the color looks great on her! Makeup & hair are flawless! My problem is with the shoes, they’re ill-fitting and I hate the sole! But, she still looks lovely & happy, so FAB!
Agreed- she is so beautiful and also refreshingly normal in a crazy world of – you know what…
love her..
Yes!!!
I kind of like the shoes. I just attended a wedding this weekend that took place on a beach. Really, in a grassy spot overlooking the beach, but I was in a true dilemma regarding footwear. These would have solved the problem – fancy shoe but practical on the bottom – and it looks like she’s standing in grass too, so they work well here. And she is gorgeous. My one child is 3 1/2 and if I could get anywhere close to looking this good, I’d be ecstatic. Let’s not even talk about what I looked like when he was 6 months old, and she’s got three.
Her toes look like they are hanging on for dear life in those shoes …
She looks uncomfortable, like she’s sucking in her middle for all she’s worth. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, because I do it all the time for pictures. But I am not Jennifer Garner. With her resources, she could have and should have found something better.
She’s just having trouble dressing the breast feeding boobs. Heck, btdt! You can go from “I just nursed and can fit into a woven top” to “Oh my GAWD I need to nurse were’s the jersey?” in under an hour…..
That said… SHE looks beautiful. I hate the shoes, I think the dress is OK ( see above)…but SHE looks so pretty.
For some reason, the color and the ruching brought to mind her orange Valentino dress, which is a bad comparison to draw because this looks so frumpy and that looked so smashing.
One of the things that I love about Jennifer Garner is when she is out with her kids or running errands she looks like a normal person doing errands. No crazy outfits or shoes. She just wears jeans and running shoes. Anyway, I love that. And it doesn’t surprise me she is losing the baby weight normally.
Beautiful color, poor fit. It makes her chest look wonky…. but man is she gorgeous!!
The shoes however need to be put out of their misery…. ugh.
It looks like she swaddled herself instead of the baby. Annoying because with a slightly lower neck and a wee bit less draping it could have been lovely!
For some reason, the dress looks like its being worn backward and that I can’t endorse. Hrm….
i don’t mind the shoes and I think the dress is flattering — but her hair looks messy and that spot on the left looks like it’s trying to climb into her mouth.
Ugh, she is so beautiful, but she has a couple of teensy flaws that her stylist misses from time to time. Her main item she needs to dress around is her neck – it’s not all that long. It’s not that hard to find dresses and hairstyles that don’t emphasize this, but she’s often in one or the other, making her look like her head has been stapled to her shoulders.
With proper styling, her bod honestly looks smokin (even in this dress, minus the linebacker, stumpification effect that I know is simply an optical illusion).
With a different neckline, better hair (tendrils only adding to the stumpy), and OF COURSE, less hideous shoes, she looks amazing.
She’s too pretty to look like this. So frustrating!
Such a beautiful dress and you wore it perfectly! I love this!
Is it me or are the seams on the shoulders the kind that are intentionally inside out??? I think that’s throwing off proportions and making her look neck look shorter than usual or like she’s scrunching her shoulders.
Otherwise, I think she looks beautiful. I mean look at that third picture — this lady is utterly gorgeous and natural looking. I think we all agree that she’s probably still nursing. It is NOT easy to find a dress to wear when you are still nursing. Kudos on a flattering (and probably practical) dress: if she was away from her baby (or a breast pump) for this event for more than 2 and a half hours, she had to find a dress that would stretch as her breasts filled up with milk. And she may be wearing such a high neck to hide mega straps for what is probably a bigger bra than she wears when not nursing. Not crazy about the shoes, not so much for aesthetic reasons as for fit reasons — she looks like she’s sliding out of them!
It’s isn’t that I dislike her, she’s fine, but everything here is awful, hair, too-small shoes, too tight, backwards swaddling dress.
At a certain time of life, women need to be careful with very high necklines. If there’s more than a foot of space between the neckline and the nipple line, the eye percieves a normal bosom of saggy. (This is why nobody should ever wear a high neckline and a high waistline together.)
And the neckline doesn’t flatter her broad shoulders, either. That dress is a “miss” for her.
That dress just hogs all the attention and makes her look like she has no neck.
The dress is great but it would be even more flattering with a different neckline. Like a wrap around dress that naturally has a v-neck. Does that make sense? I can get on board with the shoes. She’s standing in grass most of the time, you don’t even notice the soles on those shoes.
Such a beautiful dress.I wanted to vote “Yes! But the shoes are making me stabby.”
Me too. The shoes look like they hurt.hurt.hurt.hurt.hurt.
When boobs are big, covering them with acres of fabric is the worst thing to do. It doesn’t have to be a deep revealing V, a V with no cleavage would have been fine, or even a looser scoopy cowl. Easier access, too. Otherwise, she looks charming.
I don’t really like the shoes, and she needs some lipstick. Other than that, I think she looks great.
I think she looks nice – it’s definitely not amazing, but it’s also press for a kids movie so she looks appropriately conservative and great for just having a baby. Shoes are not good. I love JG!
HER FACE. she’s beautiful, but not intimidatingly so. gawd i love her & Ben & their kids… I want to vote yes just because of them. But those shoes make me very stabby and the dress does look backwards (holla to whichever commenter pointed that out first)
J.Gar? Really?
I’m surprised she would wear anything as tacky as those shoes. With those wooden soles it looks like she picked them up on sale at Aldo.
I love the dress and think it makes her look sexy and curvy. I like the neck line because it is interesting and really makes her shoulders/arms look nice. I really really want this dress.
Somehow that neckline makes her look like she’s shrugging her shoulders / has no neck. Tyra would not approve. Or at least point out that this is the difference between celebrities and models. Never lose your neck. Never
The way the fabric is stretched and her hand is placed, it kind of looks like she is holding the dress together with her hand in the first picture.
I think this is not the case however and she looks great.
She sort of looks like Jlo in the Jenny from the Block video facially – all things considered not a wise move?

I think she looks absolutely gorgeous bar the chokey neckline, which makes me sad.
PS I really hope Baffleck isn’t douchey with her, but I always fear he is, and that also makes me sad.
I love her, and would love to see her back on screen in some proper, meaty, roles.
For this I would lower the neckline, change the shoes, and hire her some new hair and makeup people.
