Fug or Fab: Julianne Hough

fug-or-fab

Sometimes I can’t tell with this one. I keep looking at all of her outfits, in general, and going, “Ehhhhhh….. maaaaaybe?” And THAT makes me sound like a creaky old door in some Berenstain Bears book, and that is NOT where I expected to be going this morning.

ok, YES, this would’ve looked aMAZing on CZJ!

In real estate it’s location, location, location. In fashion it’s fit, fit, fit. And this does not fit her. The color would be great for CZJ.

Count me in for photo shopping this dress on La Zeta-Jones (with hair down so we can’t really see the netting in the back.) I even like it on Hough, even though I’m not sure about the color with her skin/hair. I think if it were neon yellow but with a slice of different color fabric along the neckline, I’d be all the hell about it. Dress dos….eesh. Too short, sideboob, white on white polka dots…I do not like. It is close, but not a win.

The yellow is definitely among the best shapes they’ve tried on Hough, illusion netting aside. The milkmaid dress is ridic. Unfortunately for her RC attempts, she seems the sort of girl who looks most herself in shorts and a sportsbra.

I actually love her hair! It reminds me of Gwen Stefani’s hair when she wore that crazy sheer/side-paneled/polka-dotted jumpsuit that I also loved. Edgy and chic and the messiness is perfect. The dress would’ve been great sans cut-out. The end.

I love this on Julianne, too!! Although it doesn’t fit in the back.

She looks a little old school Gwen Stefani overall, in this, in my opinion.

If nothing else, Adam Shankman in pic #3 shares our concerns. He also seems like he’s a little afraid Tom Cruise will suck the youth out of her and is about to dart in and slap Cruise’s hand away.

I like the yellow dress minus the illusion netting. That color was hot in the 80s, so it’s apropos for that movie premier. A smooth pony would have been better hair. Her face is so pretty and I can’t wait for her and Seacrest to get married and have gorgeous, overachieving offspring.

I dig this yellow dress! Although I’m pretty bummed that the execution was so poor. For shame.

Also–I’m really loving this messy-bun-atop-the-head look, but this might have something to do with my post-pixie long hair envy. (Sigh.)

Def agreed on the dress swap. Also, DO YOUR HAIR! I like it better down but this up-do doesn’t look like someone actually did her hair – it looks like she did it on the way in the car. NAST. IF you want an up do then have it but make it a real hairstyle!

She is pretty. We know she has the good body and the good natural hair.

The dress has a lot of potential. You’d just think Ryan would have enough $$ to hire a good stylist for her.

I really like the neon dress and the short Heidi dress is OK too.

Gah! I totally loved this dress until I saw that horrible side cutout. Stop with the faux nekkedness, people!! Plus, the illusion netting gives her the illusion of horrible cellulite. Probably not what she was going for.

I love the color of the first dress, but the fit and hair ruining it for me too. The UK premiere dress is weird, but her face and makeup look so lovely in that last photo. In both of these looks, though, it’s good to see her looking more her age and not so matronly.

Oh, ew & ouch! That neon dress is like a medieval torture device for the torso! And, FUGLY!!! And, thumbs down on the topknot! The 2nd outfit is ADORABLE & SEXY… It’s something that I would wear, so I LOVE IT! FAB!!!

I love the neon dress, and am ignoring the illusion netting. Sleeker hair would have been prettier with the same dress and makeup, but I’m alright with this. As other said, she looks her age. The dress fits gorgeously, minus the netting dig! The black dress is just fine, no more, no less.

Easter Peep Barbie! Stunning dress from the front, but from the back, the mesh makes it look like her skin doesn’t fit. Otherwise, it’s a nice break from the usual matronly styling that some cruel person persuades her to don. Perhaps the same person who talked her into doing that with her hair.

And the award for the worst sloppy tacky to hell with you top knot goes to…

Damn this dress could have been so great but there are a lot of little things wrong with it. And the mini is worse.

I’m loving the dress and loving the hair – the dress is a really interesting shape and color and the hair is up without being too severe.

She looks YOUNG here. Seriously, who cares about bath hair after that?

I cannot even evaluate the outfit, because all I wanna do is scream “BRUSH YOUR HAIR!” at her until she complies.

Thank you!!! That is my post work out washing my face hair!!! I don’t even pick up the mail in that hair!

Why do I like the milk maid slut? WHY? I think it might be misplaced love for headbands of my youth…

The tennis ball chartreuse dress is unusual and flattering, but would have worked better on CZJ or Brangelina or someone with more presence. Her Washing The Dog hairdo is inappropriate for going out in public at any time, even to the 7-11, and such a smooth, angular dress needs smoother, more angular hair. The second thing is the epitome of trying too hard.

She’s so pretty. I love the yellow dress, but put it with the black dress hair, and tailor it so it fits better.

I’m joining the Pro team with the hair. I think it’s adorable. Top-knots usually bug me but this is fun and her face still looks soft and cute. I also think it works with the dress. The dress is almost…sporty, in a way. Maybe it’s the tennis ball color, I don’t know. Sporty formal. Is that a thing? Anyway, I think she looks cute. The red lips / casual hair / crazy yellow work for me.

I actually like MOST of this. The dress is, I think, flattering on her. If they had cut the illusion netting down several inches, I don’t think it would have done that painful-looking cleaving. Her makeup is pretty, and I think the jewelry is nice.

The hair, however … I just can’t. I cannot tolerate this messy doughnut-on-top-of-my-head look that so many of these starlets are sporting right now. That is the same hairstyle I have when I am cleaning the toilet or doing yoga. It is not appropriate for being outside of your house, the gym, or the dance studio. It ruins the whole look, because I can’t get past how awful it is.

I don’t mind the milkmaid dress too much, but the shoes are awful looking. Almost as awful looking as this movie.

I think her hair/make-up/jewelry is really great in both, as is that color on her. I know the bun would look ridic on me, but it’s in right now and she’s working it. But the backyhose line and milkmaid arms WILL NOT FLY.

If I just look at the first dress, and ignore the acid green, the weird shoulder thing and the top knot… it’s pretty great. But alas, these things I cannot ignore.

I like both dresses. I don’t like the yellow dress on HER, it seems to be either too big or too small in all the wrong places.

T&L said she looked like Daisy Duck in the black & white dress. Spot-on and hilarious.

I’d love that dress if it were pure white. Or black. Or red or blue, any color that girl can wear without looking sickly. Highlighter Yellow is not her friend!

I love everything about it, the colour, the dress, the hair. The hair is fabulous, messy, playful, edgy. I just don’t like who it’s digging into her back but asides from that, she looks amazing. The black dress is a bit whatever-ish.
