Fug or Fab: Rumer Willis

fug-or-fab

This length is traditionally tough — but so am I, and I actually think I like this:

There is something sort of retro-appealing about it that I think works with her look — it’s not strictly classic, but it’s also not particularly trendy. Considering the amount of turmoil in the girl’s family right now (Demi and the Kutch are probably dunzo, which has to be stressful for all of them), at least she LOOKS good.

OR DOES SHE?

Opinions on HER aside, I do rather like this dress. The shoes also work despite running the risk of matchy-matchy. And props for cinching it with a black belt.

  2. bambi_beth

I love love LOVER this dress. However, is something happening to her face? Or do I need more coffee?

  3. Fuh Ugh

I love the dress, but it looks like something I would wear to work (with a safety pin in the neckline so that it wouldn’t gap down to midsternum). I don’t think this suits her at all, and that neckline/cleavage looks ridiculous with this librarian outfit. Of course, if it were on almost anyone else, I might be able to give this a chance. For instance, switch it out with Solange. Yes, then I like it a lot better.

I love this! It reminds me of something someone would wear to depart for their honeymoon…sassy and classy.

I like idea of this dress, but I think the bottom half needs to be more form fitting in order to complete the retro look.

Right now this looks like she went shopping in the JC Penney “career wear” dpt.

I think she looks GREAT! I love the dress & the hair and makeup are beautiful, but I don’t like the black belt, so I would take it off! FAB!!!

Such pretty skin. This looks Liz Claiborne Cruise Wear. The belt (props for employing one!) looks pleatheresque. That’s an awfully deep V neck. I’m sure hoping this trend goes away soon.

  8. Dazie

Like the dress- I have a penchant for wraps with retro patterns. I’m not 100% keen on the edging though- the sleeve parts look like she’s wearing some memorial armbands. Perhaps if the sleeves were 3/4 length?

  9. Kit

other than the necessity for boob tape, I love this. Of course, unlike you, I’m a huge fan of the tea-length dress when done well. :)

  10. Linney

Not a fan. Looks like she has cartoon shark teeth around her biceps and calves. Between that, the black belt and the grandma’s going to church length, it’s as if she’s wearing 3 different dresses at once. Also, that tattoo is hideous.

With the gaping decollete’, over-wide lapels, and difficult length, it gives the impression of being too big, although it flatters her waist and hips. The pull at her left armpit make me think it’s a tailoring issue. And Man Alive, those tattoos look awful.

  12. Ladyblahblah

This is very Vivian Vance after they all moved to Connecticut.

  13. Sandra

There’s something hinky about this that makes her look a lot bigger than she really is. I’m thinking those lapels aren’t helping. I’d like to see it knee-length because I think this awkward length looks good on no-one.

  14. Kristen

I love it love it love it, and I don’t think I’ve ever said that about anything she’s worn before. Anybody know who makes it? I know it’s not for everyone, but that’s fine — more for MEEEE. Because god knows it’s going to have to go on major sale before I can even dream of buying it.

  15. Sarah with an h

I looooove me some teal and red, in whatever form it comes.

  16. anny

Coffee – that’s what’s missing! She needs a mug of coffee and her fuzzy slippers and the morning paper to properly accessorize this housedress.

  17. yeahandalso

I like this dress, but I can also hear Marge Simpson cautioning Lisa that every women eventually meets her downfall “It could be anything! Scrapbooking, high-stakes poker or the Santa Fe lifestyle!” cause really, it is the perfect dress for all three vices.

  18. Laura

So unkind, but every time I look at her face I think, if ever there was a need for emergency plastic surgery…

    • Sajorina

That’s mean, Laura! This is “Fug or Fab”, not “Unfug her Face”! She’s a beautiful young woman, so leave her alone!

      • Patroushka

There have been plenty of face fugs on this site — and although I don’t encourage plastic surgery, there is something…. unsettling about her proportions.

      • Amy

At least you can recognise her, which is more than can be said for most of the production line pretties on the red carpet. I think she’s great looking like she comes from a previous, more interesting era of Hollywood where women were allowed to have personalities and a range beyond being arm candy.

    • Sarah with an h

So unkind, but every time I read Laura’s words I think, if ever there was a need for someone to keep her rude, snide, vacuous opinions to herself…

    • Denise

You are too right. It’s just an opinion. People that commented you were rude need to dissociate themselves with the woman in question. Also you already excused yourself. Have at it

  19. gryt

This is interesting and super cool. LOVES it!! That zigzaggy thing with the 50′s fabric? Awesome.

  20. Melanie

Totally cute! Shorten it a bit and it’d be perfect. I’d wear this in a heartbeat.

  21. Claire L

I think she looks great, but the length is not good. ON ANYONE!

  22. CJ

I guess I am in the minority. I give this a fug. Although I like wrap dresses and she looks quity pretty here, I do not like the fit on her. Wraps should wrap to fit your body, particularly around the waist. It looks almost like she purposely left it loose to show off extra cleavage and now it is too loose. I also don’t like that the belt is not at her waist, and I will join others in saying that it is a bad length. Also, that pattern makes me think of Wilma Flintstone…and not in a good way.

  23. Debbi

I had a dress like this in the 80s! The shoulders were a little more padded, and I wore them with Sacha London Louis-heel pumps but other than that, exack the same. Meanwhile, Rumer is just not all that. Is it just me?
