Fug or Fine: Lindsay Lohan

fug-or-fab

I know many of us have strong feelings about this girl — from “Please pull it together” to “please stop writing about her” to “please do anything other than whatever it is you are currently doing” — but none of that changes the fact that, in her bid for renewed legitimacy, she’s back on the scene with Liz & Dick. Let’s see if Lindsay helped her cause at the premiere.

The movie, by the way, debuts on Lifetime on Sunday, and promises to be a complete hellstorm. So clear your calendars, check your local listings, and stock up on — as Alex Trebek would say — potent potables. We aim to live-tweet it at @fuggirls, and will keep you posted on that.

How do you think she did?

    Fug.
And her face is killing me. At 26 years old she looks older than I do at 42.

I think her face looks slightly better than it did a few weeks ago…

I have actually thought extensively (I have a lot of downtime at work) about what she has done to her face and how much is permanent and how much might eventually wear off. She’s probably mostly done fillers and botox, right? It could go back to normal at some point? Right?

      • Helen
        0

It looks like the cheek fillers are already slipping downward. They’ll finish getting reabsorbed pretty soon, and with any luck, she’ll know her body doesn’t accept them well (hence the slippage) and won’t do it again. The lips are still making me sad and I’m beginning to fear they may not recover.

Such a pretty girl naturally! It’s a terrible shame.

Well, at least her hair is red again, and we’re seeing freckles. Those things are nice.

          0

Ew, they slip and slide around? Gross.

Having her hair parted on the side and swept diagonally across her forehead like that is a huge improvement on previous dos where we could see how wonky and too-high her actual hairline is. I hope she keeps it this way.

Her hair is horrible — bad dye job and obvious extensions.

It’s so unfortunate and just tragically bad. BUT as a fellow ginger, I’m delighted she’s flaunting her pale skin and freckles.

  3. Deborah Stultz

She SO needs a manicure. That last picture was kind of gross.

    • Petrova Fossil
      0

I didn’t think the lack of manicure gross, but it was sad. Who goes out on the red carpet without getting one? Likewise the slightly smudged makeup. Likewise the lack of jewelry. She looks like no one cares about her.

      • notbusy
        0

it definitely made me sad to look at her nails… makes me think even she doesn’t care enough about herself. I’m pretty broke and even I can afford a mani pedi for an occasion – or at least take the time and do my nails myself and make them look somewhat presentable

    • Toni255
      0

I so agree – and what’s with the tiny cut on her finger??? Did she take up knife throwing in her spare time?

  4. Pouncer

I am concerned about the state of her cuticles. Those fingernails do not look good.

    • Ally

Right? I want to give her a multi-vitamin and a warm mug of hot chocolate.

I think simply giving the hands and nails a good scrubbing would work wonders.

    • Jeanette

3 bellybuttons? wtf!!! That said, her hair looks lovely. Maybe this could be an unfug it up project, as she looks better than she has in ages (admittedly from a low base) and I like the style and the colour, and her hair. She just needs to let nature take it’s course, a good wash and some finessing perhaps?

  6. ChristieLea
    0

WHAT is with the litte dangling gems in the peepholes? From afar, it makes it look like she has a double belly button. It’s creepy, not sexy.

  7. TaraMisu

*SIGH* She looks 50…. which is bad for someone who is, what?? Maybe 25.

    • Baileyswedishfish
      0

ACK! I’m 50 and don’t look that bad!!!

She looks like a young woman trying way to hard. Like a little girl playing grown up. She’s shows her wear and tear like the worn out Velveteen Rabbit, but instead of love wearing her out, it was bad choices.

I wish she’d take some styling inspiration from Taylor Swift…hike it up, yank it down, wrassle the boobs into a bra, stand up straight, scrub off the stench of cigarette smoke and despair and LAY OFF THE PLASTIC SURGERY!!

  8. Jen

You had me laughing out loud with the imaginary “Red Rubies” ad! So perfect.

  9. Eliza Bennett

How could we not have a full on discussionof the little creep-crystals in EVERY peephole on that gown? Oh, Linds, linds….poor baby. She does look better redheaded, but her face close up…I just want the days of Herbie The Lovebug back, and I know it can never happen.

  10. Katherine
    0

Her hands! She has old lady hands, and at what, 27? I could chalk the face up to bad surgery, but those hands are proof of some serious hard living. So sad.

  11. Jacquilynne
    0

If that dress was red, she would look just like Jessica Rabbit.

Who also appears to be the inspiration for her posture.

    • Stefanie
      0

Oh come on! That’s an insult to Jessica!

      • Kat
        0

Jessica Rabbit was EXACTLY what I thought too. Linds needs to PUT DOWN the lip liner (like really, for the love of God, you look like a trout), and try a dress that isn’t from that sketchy store at The Mall.

        • Jen S. 2.0
          0

“Refried Phoebe Price” was my first thought. Poor girl. She looks like she’s trying to pull it together, but there’s just so much pulling to be done.

    • Katie
      0

“Jessica Rabbit” was my first thought! My second was “will you stop *$(&#)@ with your face?! please? for me?”

  12. Stefanie
    0

That hair looks exactly like the hair from the Little Mermaid Barbie doll I bought my neice for Christmas last year. Whoever made that hair, made this hair.

And that dress looks like it would have been a “free gift” from Fredericks Of Hollywood when you spend over $100.00. (And yes, I have received one that looks scarily like that with the exception of the dangly things.)

    • KarenG
      0

Little Mermaid doll hair is EXACTLY what I was thinking! It looks completely artificial. Her face looks at least 20 years older than she is, and her whole look is cheap and pathetic. Her nails look about as bad as mine, and I’ve been tiling floors this weekend, not going to a red carpet event.

  13. Danielle
    0

Forget the hair! The real question is, how much of her face is still real? Her lips are painful to look at.

    • Mouse
      0

There’s definitely been some colouring outside the lines on those lips. YIKES

  14. Bailey
    0

She looks a bit of a mess, and there’s boob cutouts with gems dangling from them. We’re putting this to a vote?

  15. pidget
    0

This makes me so sad. She could be so beautiful, and yet she has crash-landed into trashy. She’s got great raw material: wondrous bod, gorgeous natural red hair, a lovely face, and yet all of this is a near-miss because of messing about with her initial great genetic luck.

I was hoping that playing someone glamourous would help her clean up her act, but the stripper-eze seems to be winning. Imagine this with less Barbie hair, no peepholes, well-applied makeup, and a nicer stole – think Rita Hayworth rather than Vegas showgirl. Some of us are still rooting for you, L.!

    • Helen
      0

I agree, pidget, it wouldn’t take much at all to unfug and de-stripperize this. A few very minor changes to the clothing and some grooming TLC, and we’d be saying, “Well, I still want to see those face fillers wear off, but this is very classic Hollywood glam.”

      • Jeanette
        0

Agreed. With a ‘get a grip’ friend and some T.L.C she still has such potential…

  16. Alameda Peg

The “rubies” in the cut-outs gave me a horrible feeling they were drops of blood, like she’d accidentally worn some sort of slasher movie Halloween costume to the premiere. And I would have sworn that was Phoebe Price in pic #2. All in all, not a good look, though not as terrible as she’s been lately.

    • Legally Blond
      0

Phoebe Price sat at the table next to me at lunch a few weeks ago and, sadly, she looked much better than this.

  17. MelissaW
    0

First, the good: At least it seems she’s been eating, which is good since there were some years there where the exposed bones were scary. And it’s nice to see her back to red, even though it seems a tad bright for her natural color (I spy darker roots).

The fug: She’s had her boobs, done, right? (I have to be right, those babies are too big for her pre-nutjob body and she’s still skinnier than she was then) Because those saline balloons are just one popped, jewel-encrusted, cut-out away from a wardrobe malfunction. As far as the face…it looks like the makeup artist drew the lip line around the outer edge of her poofy lips which just emphasizes the fact that none of the poofiness is natural.

I watched LiLo on Leno the other night and the girl could not sit still. She kept messing with her hair, then her dress, then her hair, and had trouble engaging with anyone. She made me feel antsy.

    • Melly
      0

I believe here boobs are genuine, but they should never go out without some proper wrangling first. Without that and some decent tailoring, this dress is bound to fail.

  18. Beth C.
    0

I think you hit the nail on the head, Heather. It isn’t that she looks BAD, I mean, she looks fine. But that outfit is weaing her, not the other way around. There’s something about the whole thing that makes it look like she’s playing costume dress up, like a little kid wearing her mom’s dress, or a hard-core tomboy in a bridesmaid dress- the pieces are all there, but it just looks awkward.

I am really surprised after all the work she obviously put into the look she didn’t swing in for a mani on the way, it’s just another symptom of the “fish out of water” feel to the whole look. As someone who has pretty ragedy hands I give her a pass on general look, it’s hard for some of us to get our mits in line, but really, given everything else going on, you’d think she’d take a minute to slap on a coat of red polish.

  19. Kat
    0

I think she would do 1000x better, both in her life and in the press, if she could just come out and say, “Yes, I might be kinda screwed up, and I’ve certainly made mistakes left and right.” The more she does those twitchy Leno interviews and made-for-tv toilet movies, all while she continues to deny, deny, deny, the further she falls. So sad. You did this to yourself, kiddo.

  20. Jamie
    0

Heather, I’m shocked you even put this up to a vote. You must be feeling the holiday spirit and therefore feeling very forgiving and generous, because I expected you to destroy that dress in the comments. It’s absolutely awful in every way! It looks old, cheap, and the color is terrible. I’m curious as to what you find at all redeeming about it (except the fact that her nipples are properly wrangled, which is a victory, yes, but a tiny one).

  21. kathotdog

    You say: Jessica Rabbit.
    I say: Phoebe Price.

I’m still on trying to figure out why they had a premiere for a Lifetime TV movie????

  23. Sarah
    0

This is a big improvment from before. Seriously. If she had gotten the dress without cutouts and those annoying red stones, it would have basically been perfect. Her body looks great. Her boobs still have that “no baby” perk to them (grr).

Her face is damaged and she can’t do much for that. All the fillers and crap she pumped in have aged her. Her drug use and drinking aged her at least 10 years. But, thank god she is a red head again!!!

  24. Kara K
    0

Good hair (not real), bad everything else. Dress looks so very cheap, smudged makeup, no manicure. Giiiiiirl, I try so hard to root for her and she breaks my heart every time.

  25. Jules
    0

She looks disproportionate and the triple-navel-blood-drop dress isn’t doing it for me, but at least she also looks coherent and aware of her surroundings which, sadly, is a step up. It’s easy to forget she’s so young; I hope the poor girl is able to snap back into caring about herself and starts making good use out of all the years ahead that will be hers to enjoy if she wants them.

  29. gretcheepoo

This makes me very sad. It’s like there is NO ONE in this girl’s life that can be honest with her.

Not only do I dislike the color of this dress, but I really feel like it’s a size too small for her. And as a woman who has ample breasts, I get it… you desperately want to wear slinky dresses with no bra; however, if you’ve got above a size B, you just look sloppy and your clothes simply don’t hang right if they’re not wrangled correctly. The more I think about it, that may be why the dress looks too small.

She also needs to get a new make-up artist. Although, as a make-up artist myself, something tells me Lindsay may be one of those clients that asks for the lipstick and “fixes” what you’ve done “wrong”. Then again, with her shenanigans, she may be unable to find a decent artist that wants to work with her and this is the result of that. Same with the hair. It should look sleek with the bouncy curls, but it looks dry & windblown. I do LOVE that color though.

I’ve never been a fan, but this just makes me sad. She needs a hug and someone in her life who actually cares about HER instead of caring about what she can do for them.

  30. Nicole

She looks like the classiest aging starlet at the AVN Awards. That dress looks like it cost 25 bucks at one of those rando stripper-wear stores that every mall seems to have at least one of.

  31. Katharine
    0

She looks alert, her eyes are both focussed in the same direction, and her skin isn’t grey. I’ll take what I can get here. It’s never too late, and maybe she will be able to rise above the brutal hammering her performance in L&D is getting and will continue to get, and move on. But I’m sorry she couldn’t get a slightly nicer dress.

    • Katharine
      0

I just looked at the closeup of her hand, and now I feel so sad. That is the hand of a terrified little kid.

      • Helen
        0

Yeah. It is. I think many of us would like to give her a hug, put a sweater on her, and take her home for cocoa and grilled cheese.

  32. Slogr
    0

Did anyone else notice that her dress appears to have been snagged near the bottom? There’s a pretty long line that goes across horizontally for at least 5 inches. God she is a mess.

  33. Meh
    0

yeah – saw the snag and thought it was cheap hem job

don’t think she can afford a stylist and her mom is no help. You never see her in designer stuff – she is probably scrapping the consignment stores these days and spending what little cash she has on cheap extensions & fillers thinking that’s what she needs
and even if she did make a comeback and start earning again, she has to support her mom and siblings..what a life

  34. heron

Fillers sagging/dropping? Is that why she looks so puffy around the jawline?

  35. lynn baber
    0

So FUG. I can’t believe how FUG I think this is. She is a mess. And her pretty hair is almost all extensions. I just want her to go away. Too sad. Too too sad.

  36. Leah
    0

She is so hard to look at.

  37. eva
    0

This is somehow an improvement for her: from afar her makeup looks decent (in closeups the color on her cheeks is awful), the hair is better than the blonde but as Stefanie said, it’s like Barbie hair (it kind of hangs there and looks fake both in feel and in color), her weight doesn’t look sickly… Still the dress is cheap looking, she needs a bra. She still looks far from “put together”. I would feel sorry for her because her family sucks but she seems so entitled and doesn’t apologize for anything, that it’s hard to empathize.

everything I see here makes me sad.
she smiles, and then you notice it’s without the eyes.
she’s a redhead, and then you notice it’s an ugly weave
same with lips, dress, … and then that tattoo.
it’s just all… sad. poor girl.

She wishes she looked as good as Jessica Rabbit. The dress is a fail – from the color, to the fabric, to the cut-outs to the fit – cheap, cheap, cheap. The face! Argh – please stop messing with your face – imaging what she’ll look like when she’s 50, if she makes it that long. The hair – finally the color looks good but the polyester! Yikes!! The lipstick is killing me – and then we get to the cracked out manicure – holy cow – this is how you show up for your big reinvention red carpet? Really? Whoever mentioned the AVN’s (Adult Video News awards) totally nailed it!

  42. Angela
    0

The dress could be awesome if it were better made, properly fitted and didn’t pull so much across the chest. And if her bosoms were supported. It looks off the rack from a little shop in the mall.

I’m 46 and I look younger and more refreshed than Lindsay. Please pull yourself together hon.

How many more steps are there before Lindsay completes the transformation into Phoebe Price? Not nearly as many as there should be….

  47. Maretha2

The good: more natural skin color — pale with freckles instead of loaded up with self-tanner. Hair is back to red, even if it’s not all her hair. The red color really brings out how pretty her eyes are.

The bad: this dress looks cheap and tacky.

The sad: her face looks 20 years too old for her. It’s hard to see someone whose life and family seems like such a train wreck. Has she ever had anyone around her who isn’t trying to use her for their own profit? And if so, is she even capable of responding to that love and care? And … see, this just gets really sad and depressing, which is what makes it hard for me to look at her, since I end up in this gloomy place.

  48. Alicia
    0

First, this is totally going to be my halloween costume next year. Second, I cannot get over how trashy she looks from the prison tattoo, to the fake or fake-looking, overdyed hair, to the overdrawn lips, the gross fingernails, and the horribly cheap material of her dress. She is so tragic.

  51. Dazie
    0

She looks so much BETTER than she usually does. Looks like someone is trying to wrangle her in the right direction, she looks clean (like- took a shower), sober and well-fed.

The clothes are temporary, the hair is temporary. SHE looks better.

I call that a resounding win.

  52. Cat
    0

This just makes me sad. Obviously, she’s played a part in her own undoing, but those parents of hers certainly didn’t help when she was a minor. This dress is too lingerie and too desperate. There’s potential, but I hate the cut-outs and the color. But at least her hair is red again? (Even if it’s not real.)

  53. Linda

I noticed on another site with more shots that she has the remnants of medical tape on her left upper arm. Like she had an IV (or whatever) recently. That’s just gross – she doesn’t have one person in her entourage that could have gotten some baby oil and gotten it off? She’s just so sad and dirty.

Heather and Jessica, I just wanted to thank you for the last note on the hand close-up. Other bloggers continue to be quite harsh to her, and she may very well deserve it, but at some point it does cross a line into almost bullying territory, which La Lohan herself has pointed out. It only fuels the fire burning the train wreck even more.

That hand magnifies what is really going on here. And it ain’t good, it ain’t pretty, and this ain’t gonna end well. Her face, once freckled and cute in its natural state, is already permanent collateral damage. The best we can hope for at this point is that she doesn’t die prematurely and that she can somehow make a comeback in an ironic role in a Quentin Tarantino flick 15 years from now.

This is sad. Remember when Britney attacked something with an umbrella and we all decided to back off and give her some space? Yeah, it’s time.

    • Jessica
      0

I think the difference there is that Britney literally was committed and was making zero public appearances — the only pictures of her were paps shots — and Lindsay is working and doing press. At a certain point, if a person claims she is okay, and she has a job, and she is promoting that job…to treat her other than any other celeb we’ve featured is a little patronizing, you know?

      • buttercup
        0

I don’t think it would be patronizing at all. If media hounding of a celebrity feels wrong once they die (think Lady Di, Amy Winehouse, Michael Jackson), then why isn’t it wrong in the process of said hounding? I guess we always hold out hope that the celebrity themselves will take it upon themselves to stop the cycle of cray-cray, but that’s too much to hope for here. The attention feeds into it. I would love to see a bunch of media outlets, shows, and websites/blogs band together to publish a love letter to the Lohan we all loved and communally agree not to publish anything about her until she (and her whole family for Pete’s sake!) clean up her act.

        • Isa
          0

Lindsay’s not being hounded, she is actively seeking out the attention. What do people desperate for attention do when they don’t receive it? Act out more to make themselves impossible to ignore.

Have you ever had a friend who you haven’t seen since high school, and everyone says that they’re strung out, but you’re home for Christmas and they call you up and you agree to meet at a bar, and they seem OK until they go to the Ladies’ and are gone for half an hour and they come back kind of paranoid and sniffly and acting super nervous and can’t make eye contact? That. In a Frederick’s of Hollywood dress off the clearance rack.

Bad over-puffed lips. Bad super-fake hair. Bad desperate dress. How sad.
She should do what Demi Moore did (I never ever thought I’d ever write that) and live in Idaho for a few years and drop out and then maybe return. (Except, not to then go to a bad place years later like Ms. Moore seems to have lately as well.)

Has she passed 27 yet? Somebody needs to watch out that she makes it.
She has morphed into a cheaper Rose McGowan out in her nightdress, how odd she is.
Isn’t there a Jessica duck character, slutty duckmouth thing?

    :(

The hair near the roots is her hair ( as a dyed red head I recognize the happy shiny tint of a new touch up)…I suspect anything from the nape of the neck down are extensions, they are kind of pink looking.

that’s all I can add. The whole thing is terribly sad.

Given the train-wreck that is the Lohan family, maybe somebody can talk Britney’s dad into helping this poor young woman out. She was born lovely and talented and she very clearly is not making good life decisions. I truly hope that she can get herself sorted out and healthy. Even a career come-back is secondary to that.

You know . . . she doesn’t channel La Liz but Linds is really beautiful in her own right and she’s a terrific actress.

I feel very sad seeing this. Honestly, she has worn some really sharp outfits to court. Why can’t she pull it togetherness for her big night? I wanna have a serious sit down with whoever designed this dress and ask them just what they were thinking? This wouldn’t be flattering on ANYONE!

I keep hoping she’ll prove everyone wrong but she keeps on being a joke. Can you guys take her under your wing? Girl needs help! And that tattoo is very sad.

Did 379 people actually vote that this look was okay? OKAY?????
She looks like a blowzy, 45-year-old wash-up trying to look 26, in a dress that looks like a dirty vintage slip with cheesy red fake jewels dripping down her chest and navel. OH MY GOD — OKAY??
Not to mention the disastrous dye job, hideous face makeup, overlies lips.
This may be the most embarrassing public appearance I’ve ever seen anyone make.
She needs to be sent away and forgotten.

If she thought that the Liz and Dick movie was going to be her comeback role – sadly, it’s not going to happen. I’ve been reading the reviews and they are terrible. People will be watching on Sunday night in the same way they slow down to look at a bad car wreck, just to see how awful it really is.
The way she looks here isn’t the real problem; it’s just a symptom of everything that has gone wrong in her life.

Am I the only one who noticed the HORRIBLE hem job on the bottom of the gown? Did she do it herself? That’s the real thing I take issue with. Are there no tailors in Hollywood. Ha! I used a pun!

No, you are not. I noticed it first thing – it overshadowed everything. It reminded me of the quick hem jobs I used to see at Catholic School (no point in hemming a plaid skirt properly when the kid will grow another two inches in the next week). Granted, I was short and didn’t grow much, but my mother WOULD NEVER have let me out of the house with a hem even half as tacky. Plus: wrinkles! Another Maggie Samson no-no.

    THAT HEM. Seriously.

Since no one mentioned it I feel inclined to point out that her face filler seemed like it was intended to make her look more like Liz Taylor. I noticed in the movie stills that her jaw and cheeks looked fuller than usual and much closer to Liz’s jawline and cheeks. So perhaps it was a choice as an actress. It is very in keeping (with the personality she presents to us) that she would think the key to a successful job play Liz was simply looking like her.

As for the lips, if you look at the full size image that is close to her face, it appears that her makeup “artist” has drawn the wings of her upper lip well outside the lines of her mouth. My granny used to do that to make her thinning lips look full and she pretty much lookedl ike that picture, like a lady with too much lipstick.

Even her eyemakeup is sad, the under eye shimmer makes her look tired and old and it seems like the artist was trying to hide her undereye bags. I don’t know if that was the case, but its what it looks like.

I feel for Lindsey. I had a rough childhood too and I would love to see her improve her situation but she seems to be caught up in her narcissistic families drama and until she extricates herself from it and quits playing games and pitting her crappy parents against each other when its convenient, she’s not gonna make a big “comeback”. Like everything else about LiLo, she thinks the word is the deed. A comeback usually entails leaving the industry for a bit, getting your head screwed on straight and then coming back with renewed purpose (a la Robert Downey Jr), not just screwing around and ruing your own career with your behavior and then saying, “i’m back now!”

I can’t. She reminds me of Lot Lizard meets Old Hollywood Glamour – landing somewhere in a boozy, cigarette infested middle land, where you find her in a pink-tiled tiny bathroom, sobbing on the floor in exactly this dress, “why can’t you just LOVE ME?”. The nails are horrid. No polish at all would have been better, and that kid needs to scrubbed with a hose and some Ajax. She’s coming up on 27; hope she doesn’t join THAT club. Somebody really needs to chain her in a house with nothing but a shower and some healthy food for about a year and forbid ANY CONTACT with her crackpot father and money grubbing mother or anyone for that matter, except the hired independent life coach counselor who cannot write prescriptions. I think she thinks she’s really trying and that’s what sad about it. Her top speed and best effort in life is probably taking a lot out of her, when for the normal individual, that is the barest minimum of a decent life. Such it is with addicts. Fug Girls are right, baby steps – this is too much for fragility to hold.

What has she done to her face? It seems to be full of fillers or something terribly toxic like embalming fluid. Sadly she now looks about 46 which I can’t imagine was the idea. Didn’t the stylist say something about a quick buff and polish on the chewed up nails prior to the red carpet? Liz Taylor would be mortified!!!

I just read through many comments and now feel really sad. It may not be bullying, but it is meanness when it is repeated over and over like this. .
