Listen, if twangy man problems and sequins can’t ease our stress right now, what can?

When Hayden was stocking up on snacks, I thought for sure we were heading for a bulimia storyline. But self-destructive shoplifting works, too.

I am so glad y’all are fugging this show, because now when I watch it I hear Heather’s voice in my head. When Tami T tells her daughter to put down one of her dresses because “it cost more than your college education” I was expecting a light bulb moment of “hey, all this stuff is worth money!” But, no. Also – how long has Tami’s mother been gone? A while, obviously. And her sister just now told her all of this? So wrong.

Her going country strong all over his BULL TRUE absolutely made my day.

Please tell me Hayden’s character is 18 or over. She and Deacon getting it on is still icky, but at least it wouldn’t be illegal.

As for Tami, everybody’s hearts are gonna end up broken anyway. This is a country music show. Country music wouldn’t work without people’s hearts getting broken. Yes, yes, and trains, rain, pickup trucks, prisons, and mamas. I do know the words to The Perfect Country and Western Song. Might as well just get on with it.

I love that song. That’s pretty much all I have to add. And maybe that I’m now watching this show because the recaps were delightful. Oh, Nashville, you saucy minx, I miss you.

90′s Limited Express Refugee – I’m not sure if it’s hilarious or sad (for me) that I knew EXACTLY the visual you were going for! Haha.

I thought she was picking out clothes to reuse on her tour with Deacon?

    • Erin
      0

She was. The daughters were using the time to pick out dresses to wear during their talent show performance. Those girls are ADORABLE.

I dont know if Hayden’s magical sex parts could charm anyone into doing anything. Tami Taylor’s hair? That’s a whole other story.

This recap makes its seem like you just do not like this show at all. Not very amusing.

    • Becca
      +1

They recap all shows with an appropriate level of snark and fun. This is a humorous website and you are taking it way too seriously.

      • Duke O
        0

Dissagree. This level of snark seems like they just don’t like this show. I love the recaps of Revenge, which maybe I feel deserves a little more snark. Anyway, maybe I am taking it too seriously but why recap the show if there isn’t anything about it they like?

        • Becca
          0

This is the only show they recap that I actually like and watch. I think they treat this one just like the rest of the shows. I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree! :)

I actually do like the show. But that doesn’t mean I think it’s perfect. I find it fun to tweak it.

It would make my WORLD if Nolan from “Revenge” was on here in a crossover to fix TamiRayna’s finances *and* take care of her Big Daddy problems all in one fell swoop. ABC, make this happen.

I was really reluctant to embrace Nashville because I’m not a fan of hayden nor am I a fan of country music, but it’s so good!

I even downloaded 3 of the songs from itunes and now I think I’d like to visit Nashville. Officially hooked.

SO glad you are doing the fugcaps! This week’s episode looks so good.

While watching the scene of Hayden & Deacon in bed together, the only thing I could think (and yell at the tv screen…don’t judge me) is “Oh my God girl, you are rich ! Why do you have a tiny little double bed? Spring for a king!”

This show is pretty cheesy, but mostly in a good way. Watching the scene when Tami’s sister tells her about the mother’s long affair, I was so frustrated: Tami didn’t ask and the sister didn’t say WHO the affair was with?? If it was a long-term thing, this guy had to have had contact with the sisters, if I were Tami, that would be my first question: “Who was it?” Also, having the meth mother move in with Hayden was the best solution her management could come up with?

    • annabelle

If chickadee can buy umpteen cars, I think she could spring for a decent rehab. Amiright?

      • Aria
        0

I thought this too. Clearly, it can’t be a money issue so I created my own theory that mom is refusing to go into rehab and you can’t force someone to go [other than trying to get somebody committed for mental health/danger to self/others, but that is very difficult to do], hence mom moves in.

Yay, I’ve been refreshing the feed since Thursday waiting for this to go up. Also, the scene where Deacon and Rayna are talking in the park? Those steps are usually so overrun with joggers and toddlers that it would be impossible to have an intimate conversation there as a regular human, much less a superstar.

I love to play “spot the location” and “spot the extra.” I had the same reaction–where is everybody? It’s a perfect day for running!

  12. annaO

I’m also pretty sure that the picking out clothes scene is for her tour, not the talent show. But this show is hilarious. As a Nashville resident and married to someone in the music industry, this show seems like it tries so hard to nail the locations for everything and hasn’t quite hit it yet.

When you mentioned Hayden’s clenched teeth last week that’s all I see now dammit. Bull true!!

I really liked this show to start with…. now I’m heading for “meh” territory. The recaps are awesome :)

    • Mavis
      0

Right? Lockjaw is all i see, too.

Also, IMDb tells me the actress who plays Scarlett is from Australia and certainly her Southern accent is better than my Australian one but…is it just me or has it veered from “charming drawl” in the pilot to “full-on yokel”? (As a Southerner, my hackles are raised by non-Southerners attempts at the accents, so i admit that i might be a touch too oversensitive to make a fair call here.)

      • ML
        0

Nope, totally with you on the faux Southernese, Mavis. I’m from Atlanta (born and raised) and while I love Hayden P. as an actress and enjoy the character of Juliette, that “Whut choo THINKIN’ bout?” line of hers to Deacon in the bedroom set my teeth on edge more than buying into a glass of sweet tea, only to find out that there isn’t a damn thing “sweet” about it. A note to Hollywood: If you’re going to make a show about the South, CAST SOME ACTUAL SOUTHERNERS.

Yes, listening to Claire Bowen as Scarlett is like hearing Mammy Yokum come to life. And really? “Scarlett O’Connor”?Just name her boyfriends “Rhett” and “Ashley” and be done with it. I like “Nashville,” I do, but it’s getting so that I half expect Rayna to stand in a field of dirt, clutching her contract, and swear “I will NEVER tour large venues AGAIN!”

All that said, how adorkable are the Raynettes? More of the little girls singing’, please.

*sigh of relief* at my fellow Southerner’s accent annoyance validation

*snort* at the now-glaringly obvious shades of GWTW

I have a hard time believing they’d record a song in such a gianormous “studio” (slide 19)

    • Jennifer
      0

That’s Studio B. It’s in constant use. A character like Watty White would certainly have access to it. It’s even used by students at Belmont, so I don’t find it that unbelievable.

I am NOT in the music business, but even I have been in it. It’s also open for tours. It’s run by the Country Music Hall of Fame and Belmont University’s Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business program.

Thank y’all so much for fugging this show. First, your oft-referenced love for Tami Taylor convinced me to watch FNL, after SO MANY PEOPLE i know had tried to convince me it was amazing and failed. And then when I saw that Tami was back and you were posting about it, I had to get hooked on Nashville.

First, Hayden does her own editing? HEE!!

Second, is Powers Boothe’s wife in the picture Meryl Streep as Patsy Cline?

I may have to watch more of this show.

I want T-Rayna’s mom to be a reincarnation of Dottie West. Now, SHE had some amazing Big Country Music Hair back in the day.

Oh man! This episode sounds riddled with drama. I can’t wait to watch it! I know I’m super behind, since it aired last week, but I’ve been so busy bustling around my office at DISH that I haven’t had a chance to check it out yet. My curiosity was too high to skip reading your funny reviews though, but now I’m left even more curious to see the latest drama around Nashville! I’m just glad I know that the episode is waiting for me at home, since my Hopper DVR’s huge memory space makes it so I never have to erase older recordings to make room for new shows. My favorite part of the whole show is Hayden. What would this series be without her; am I right?!

Awaiting this week’s fugcap because about 15 minutes into “Nashville” ep. 4, I had an “Oh, I just CAN’T anymore” moment, turned it off and am debating whether or not to finish watching. I may have to do the walking and just let the Fug Girls do the talking b/c unless about 1/2 the cast is scrapped and the “Rayna’s husband runs for mayor because otherwise he doesn’t really have a storyline, does he?” storyline falls down, goes boom, I’m thinking “Nashville” is as much about the country music biz as “Grey’s Anatomy” is about the practice of medicine. Not that I expected a documentary but still, y’all.

This has been a rant of the Emergency GFY RantFest System. We now return you to GFY commenting, already in progress.
