Fug or Fab: Isabel Lucas

fug-or-fab

Don’t even get me started about Transformers 2. It was so terrible. NOTHING about it was good. Literally, everything down to the Egyptian geography was wrong. If you were lucky enough to miss it, Isabel Lucas here played a sexually voracious college student who provided tons of upskirt shots of her panties and who was secretly actually a man-eating robot with a tail and a twenty foot tongue, like, SUBTLE AND LAYERED AS USUAL, MICHAEL BAY. Honestly, the whole thing made me want to re-enroll in college just so I could write an enraged critical paper about how insulting the entire thing was: to women, to men, to minorities, to the government, to the military, to college students, to parents, to cars, to small appliances, to the audience. On the other hand, the movie did allow for Roger Ebert to write this review, which begins, “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is a horrible experience of unbearable length.” I love you, Roger.  Anyway, Ms Lucas is a pretty girl:

The dress, I think, is cute — I have one sort of similar to it, so I’m biased, although mine isn’t shiny and looks somewhat less like fancy French doors. But I am worried about whoever has taken over Ms Lucas’s hair and makeup duties. Check it:

Personally, I feel like this is one case where a little Jolen Creme Bleach (which I accidentally just wrote as, “Jolen Creme Blech”) on the eyebrows would have gone a long way. Not to the point where her brows matched her hair — I think we all learned from Drew Barrymore’s unfortunate red hair/red brows incident circa Home Fries that one’s face ought never be too matchy-matchy — but so that the contrast was not quite so….Groucho Marx. I hope it goes without saying that I am alarmed by the heavy hand of whomever was manning the SprayTan3000. In short: whoever took this very pretty girl (right) and turned her into a very pretty girl who looks like the love child of a Girl Next Door and an orange (left) should be severely reprimanded by the North American Society of Cosmetology and perhaps banned from the next awards show as a way of making reparations.

She looks so bad! There really should be a limit on how much fake tan is legally allowable. And that dress is not doing her any favors, I think. Gah! Bad all around!

  2. susanne

    i agree…roger ebert IS brilliant!

  3. mem_nyc

would never have believed such a gorgeous gal could look so terrible. just goes to show that old adage about the best models being blank slates for designers’ whims might be true.

  4. Mjx

Well, the brows ARE too dark for the hair, but at least she HAS eyebrows, so I have to give her points for that. (WHEN will the world finally realize that most women simply haven’t got delicate enough bone structure to look remotely good with plucked to death eyebrows?!).
In the picture where she is less tan, she also has a darker shade of blond hair, and her eyebrows don’t leap out and bellow at you; her hair is now too light for her complexion (even her natural one). I’d say, leave the eyebrows alone, and go back to a darker shade, which looked so much healthier and shinier, too…
I won’t start on the whole orange tan thing, I’m sure many other will have plenty to say about that ;)

  5. Ellie

What on earth is she thinking? She used to look so pretty. The orange skin and the in-your face eyebrows reminds me strongly of an oompa loompa. Throw in a green wig and she’d be good to go.

  6. Stephanie

I read this line “Anyway, Ms Lucas is a pretty girl:” followed by the photo that follwed it and, being personally unfamiliar with Ms Lucas, my reaction was “… if you say so.” The second comparison photo revealed your statement to be true.

  7. Synnamin

LOVE the dress. HATE the spray tan. What’s with the fashion of turning people orange lately?

  8. Grace

Ha ha ha. She looks hilarious! How did this even make it into a fug or fab category?!!!! Fug fug fug. This level of fugtitude is the reason your site is so necessary in these crazy cosmetological times.

  10. Jen - The Alien Spouse

Oh good grief! That is a great dress, but the hair and make-up? She looked better when she was in “Home and Away” during that whole storyline where Tasha was kidnapped and brainwashed by a weird cult, and it was all part of a bizarre plot to get her impregnated by the cult leader’s son. And the make-up lady was clearly trying make Isabel to look a bit ropey then frankly.

Still, I love seeing Aussie Soap Stars moving on to other projects.

  11. chatty cricket

she seems to have taken a violent turn towards Being Lindsay Lohan. and NO.

GIRLS! This is not a good look! Please stop!

  12. katie

Oh, dear. The eyebrows and the orange turn her into an entirely different woman in a very, very bad way.

  13. Ashley R

The picture on the left documents perfectly how I wear my hair when it hasn’t been washed in three days and I am trying to look “put together” without bathing. And she is on a red carpet.

  14. Cantankera

To MJX: Your post sounds like I wrote it. I’m a big fan of distinct eyebrows. Like you, I have noticed that scanty, cockeyed little things do not flatter most faces…in fact, they’re great for transforming a big, or even mid-sized snoot into a major honker by contrast. They also age any face that isn’t newborn baby-skinned, and make it look undefined and balded. How does this hideous trend keep carrying down through the ages?! I’ve used up my allotted rant space, so I went go into the orangeness. Eek!

  15. dinsdale

Some women should never go that blond, whether they lighten their brows or not. It just doesn’t work for their skin tone. And, if I may says this in a shouty way, DYING YOUR SKIN ORANGE DOESN’T FIX IT!! Whoever did this took all that was special about her beauty and pushed her into that banal uninteresting starlet realm. Gah.

  16. ISBN

But lo, it is much worse than the fake tan and mismatched eyebrows. The make up! That eyeshadow! Why such a severe line at the midpoint of the lid? This gives the impression that she just had her eyebrows waxed and that part of the skin is just paler. Which, when combined with the eyebrows she already has…makes you wonder just WHAT is going on.

    Keep the eyebrows.
    Lose the make up stylist.
    Lose the blond hair.
Leave some hair down over that Super 8-head.

    And lovely.

  17. Hayley

HA! I totally had that hairdo in 7th grade. Ahhh, she brings me back to a simpler time.

I feel inclined to say that I NEVER had those eyebrows, though. Jeez, woman, tweeze & shape already.

  18. Adrienne

Excuse my ignorance, but isn’t there some way to was off some of the color in the event that your spray tanner goes off the deep end and makes you look like a box of band fruit?

Also, where are her gay friends? Every young actress needs at least one.

  19. loonytick

I think the worst thing is the shade of her hair. It’s just too light for her skin-for most people’s skin, really. The only people who really look good with hair that blonde are naturally somewhere in the light blonde spectrum. And never, ever, ever does hair that light look right with a heavy tan, be the tan natural or fake.

I actually really like her eyebrows and think bleaching eyebrows is always a dangerous game. The only reason they don’t look right is that there’s too much contrast with her overdyed hair.

She really is gorgeous in the older picture. I wouldn’t change a thing about her hair and skin coloring choices in that one.

  20. Alix

The tan, the brows, it’s all HIDEOUS. To top it all off, Transformers aren’t supposed to be able to convert into human form in the first place! Yeah, little plot hole there they never explained… made me NUTS.

  21. RC

Absolutely, without question, the worst hair and makeup job since Kelli Pickler plunked her face into a bag of flour several weeks ago. I can’t stop staring at the before and after. Before: beautiful, fresh face. After: Giant Oompa Loompa wearing a Barbie wig.

  22. Liz

To stay on topic: She looks like an overcooked piece of bacon. Ew.

To go off topic: This post reminds me of the when I wrote a paper in college on the differences between Terminators 1 and 2 and how those changes reflected society’s change in its relationship to technology.

    I miss college sometimes.

(It was a really good paper, btw.)

  23. Jael Paris

I like a bold brow, but this is best done with extremes like peroxide hair and a black brow. Also, the nude lip is horrible when you are having your picture taken. It’s an everyday look, ladies, not glam.

Uh, can we not have comments like Loonyticks?

  24. vandalfan

Those are caterpillars on her face.

  25. Tera Anna

Oh wow. Poor thing! I just don’t understand how she (or whoever created that mess) could honestly look in the mirror and say “Ahh perfect! Just what I wanted.” I like the dress. It’s simple and not overly tacky…like the rest of her. She looked great in her before picture. She needs to go back to that.

  26. KPod

I think she is a zombie who is trying to go undercover by spraying an inch of spraytan on her rotting, gray corpse-flesh.

  27. LV

My mother has a set of highball glasses that are exactly the same as the dress pattern. If Isabel were holding one of those glasses, she’d be very matchy-matchy – which is more than I can say for her hair and eyebrows.

  28. carolyn

She needs to fix the orange skin, pick a different lipstick that’s an actual color (and isn’t matte) and put on some MASCARA! She has no eyelashes! That’s almost more disturbing to me than the white hair/black eyebrows.

  29. Karen

The hair and skin colors just don’t work. And they especially don’t work together. I think that is what’s making her brows look so dark because they don’t look bad in the pic on the right. The dress itself is okay. It’s not my style but it’s not heinous either.

And is it just me or does she look like Anna Nicole?

  30. GFY Jessica

FYI, the comment belongs to the person ABOVE the comment, not below. In other words, Loonyticks is innocent.

    CONTINUE!

  31. sybann

NO! She doesn’t need eyebrow bleaching! She needs a new stylist. Her natural haircolor is FINE. Can we agree that there are now so many blondes that it just is ridiculous!? You do NOT stand out in a crowd of lookalikes.

She needs less of everything she’s getting from this person. Less eyeshadow. Less blonde in the hair and like everyone else has said (without even reading comments) WAY LESS TANNER.

Bleaching her brows – which are lovely – would just be adding more crap she doesn’t need to fix crap she didn’t need in the first place.

  32. ingrid

i choose disagee by mistake!! eeck – but i AGREE with you!!!

  33. yeahandalso

    Ick, ack, blach!!!

Horrible, horrible make-over (though that feels derogetory to make-overs) Honestly your average Top Model contestant ends up better than this.

I’m sure they’ll say it was “for a role” but who are these directors who take an attractive brunette and give her horribly unflattering blond hair (or worse yet, a lovely red-head like Nicole Kidman or Lindsay Lohan). Blond people exist in the wild, so do brunettes and red-heads and black haired ladies. Unless its a biopic and you’re playing a real person there’s no real reason to do this to yourself for a role

  34. volchok

this girl is absolutely beautiful and here she looks like shit due to an awful awful tan and bad hair.

  35. Lela

the first thought that screamed through my head was EYEBROWS!!! she is a very pretty girl but tone the brows down & put on some lipstick, please!

  36. MN

The first thing that jumped out at me were those scary eyebrows. Even though a closer look shows that yes, they are at least groomed (not a fan of overplucked OR bushy…big fan of well groomed to suit the face), I first thought I was looking at Colin Farrell’s caterpillars photoshopped onto Isabel’s face. The contrast with the hair is just too much. That shade of Barbie blonde is bad enough on its own without the eyebrow fiasco.

I hate fake tans. No one looks right with a fake tan. No one. When is this awful trend going to go back to the Chocolate Factory?

That said, I like her outfit. I think she wears it well and I can’t think of anything I would do to tweak it.

  37. Kat

I actually don’t think she’s all that pretty. She was definitely prettier in the “before” shot, than in the “after.” I think that the shape and color of her brows make her eyes look too small. Maybe she needs some eye-widening make-up. Maybe her hair needs to be a little less blond. The brows most certainly need a change – more of an arch, maybe? Lighter, for sure. And scrub that tan off, for the love of God. I think that the combo of the tan, the brows, and the hair makes her look older than she should – outdated, even. I like the dress, though, as well as the shoes.

  38. Big Red

I really don’t think her fake tan is that bad – I mean, it’s not LaLohan bad, she doesn’t remind me of an Oompa-Loompa or anything… I honestly think its the hair color that makes everything else look terrible. If she would just darken it back to her “regular” brunette shade (something akin to the pic on the right, but not much darker than that) I think the tan would look better.

And lipstick. The girl needs a lil’ color on them there puckers.

  39. katie

my 4-year-old asked, “is that a boy dressed like a girl?”

  40. choochifrito

it’s like her face and brows are trying to match the gold and black in the dress

  41. Evalyn

If her hair was not so viciously bleached, the contrast would not be so stark. The orange tan is nasty. The before picture is of a pretty girl, the after is a pretty girl trying too hard.

  42. Jen

No. I mean, NO. How can anyone even discuss that dress when her skin is so shockingly orange? When I was in high school, lo these many years ago, there was a girl who took pills that were supposed to “tan” you. I’m pretty sure she ordered them out of the back of Tiger Beat. They turned girlfriend just as orange as this young lady. I think it was like how flamingos turn pink b/c of krill. Just saying.

  43. Nuria

Her forehead puts Tyra Banks to shame. And her hair could do with a good shampoo.

  44. Anonymous

Is it only me, or her tan goes only down to her ankles, leaving her feet pale? Nice dress, though.

  45. Karen

Why on earth would anyone knowingly give themselves a five-head? Seriously–that thing might not actually stop at five. It could be heading for double-digits.

  46. Anonymous

it’s a good dress but, yes, totally upstaged by the tan and the colorblocked hair/eyebrows.

on the other hand, i think you girls of all people will appreciate this article, if you hadn’t done over the summer already:
    http://io9.com/5301898/michael-bay-finally-made-an-art-movie?skyline=true&s=i

  47. Elaine

    She’s ORANGE.

Her hair looks like that sad, unfortunate high school experiment with drugstore hair color that we all had. We all did, didn’t we? I mean, it wasn’t just me….Was it?

The dress is the cutest thing about the whole look.

  48. Emily Robinson

As a fellow Aussie I feel I need to point out that her eyebrows have always been a bit of a contrast to her hair. That doesn’t explain why she has chosen shade of tangello for her skin. But it’s almost nice to see Lucas back to her ‘washed up on the beaches of home and away naked and then thinking that she was a mermaid’ days.

Also… tiny trivia tit bit – Isabel Lucas is absolutely bananas. Please take a moment to enjoy her on Rove. Fave moment ever – “No… umm you just wash your underwear Rove” Priceless.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ml35pvVpYDk

  49. florence

I HATE THAT MOVIE TOO!!! ITS JUST NOICES AND NOICES AND BOOM BAMMM BIMMM CLING CLANG STOP IT!!

  50. Mary

    I love Roger Ebert.

  51. Oceane

I remember when she was on an Aussie dull dull soap opera..I must admit she looked better back then. Her eyebrows were always an issue but she’s since gone blonder and now glows in the dark. GF needs a fringe to cover that lightbulb forehead for sure..

  52. KLynn

My first thought when I saw it was “Wow, that’s a pretty looking Romulan/Klingon.” Nuff said.

  53. Ames

That girl needs a minor tweeze and some violent exfoliation. And a new stylist. And agent.

  54. daniell

oh. my. dear. orange. gasp. god.

  55. cath

I agree with those who would keep the eyebrows and change the things that are making them look so out of place. Make the hair a bit darker, and get rid of that yellow tone; lose the orange mystic tan; add some subtle but non-nude lipstick. As it is, it looks like she’s trying to make her face match the dress, all black and gold.

  56. darby

Please, please please please pluck your eyebrows. I don’t care what the world of fashion/beauty says, thick eyebrows are not appealing on ANYONE.

Also, I laughed my ass off at Klynn’s comment. Well put!

  57. Dani

the tan is bad, the eyebrows are bad, but in my mind, the real crime is lack of colour in her lips. and the dodgey hair styling/colouring effort.
but back in the day, isobel lucas – before she went to the USA (not that i’m blaming you guys) was even prettier than in either of these two photos.

  58. M.Amanda

    The hair is too blond.
    The skin is too orange.
    The eyebrows are too dark.
    Is that blue eyeshadow?

The dress rocks and she is so pretty. Who would do this to her? Why did she let them?

  59. Joanne

So I was looking at this photo while hungry, and it turns out the complex thought inspired by this photo was “I want an orange.”

So thanks, oompa lady, you’ve just helped me boost my vitamin c.

Also, less orange and lighter brows fo sho.

  60. Catherine

This is…I just…Do they not have mirrors in her house?? Or light? The poor thing looks like Jessica Simpson did at that one awards show where she wore the red dress and wayyyy too much fake tan. I’m actually getting hot, dry skin just looking at her. The dress, on the other hand, isn’t bad.

  61. Jenna

I think the dress is really cute. But her old, beachy boho type hair would have matched the dress much better. Also, I think I’d like to see booties.

  62. Anonymous

“My feelings are complex, and I need to explain in the comments, albeit politely.”

Well, Ok, mostly, I just needed to express the word that is flashing in big neon letters IN CAPS in my head:

    EYEBROWS.

    EYEBROWS. DEAR GOD, EYEBROWS.

… *whew* Now that that’s out, I’d like to compliment her on the lovely dress and leave before my finger finds the caps lock again. Good day.

  63. Katy

No, don’t change her eyebrows! Her eyebrows are the only natural thing left on her face. Change everything else. Her hair color is awful, her tan is a completely unnatural shade, and her makeup is so thick it makes her look wrinkly and slightly corpsified. All she needs to do is go back to the way she used to look, and she’ll be fine.

  64. Rowenna

Maybe it’s just that it’s getting close to Halloween, but has anyone noticed that all Halloween costumes are required to be “Sexy fill-in-the-blank” a la “sexy nurse” “sexy kitten” “sexy schoolgirl” ad nauseum? Clearly, this is sexy Oompa Loompa. Some green hair and she would have nailed it.

  65. Edel

Ok so, her fake tan is too orange, her hair is now too blonde for her eyebrows and, worst of all, her make up artist has decided that the one place on her face that does not need to be orange is below her eyebrows and down to her lashes. Instead that is (possibly) her natural skin colour which suits her well and she has far too heavy eyeliner which gives her the Howard T.J. Moon effect of tiny, tiny eyes. Which is freaky. It also slightly looks like she is heavily sedated. Maybe she was. She has worked with Michael Bay, after all.

  66. Candi

Unfortunately as another fellow Aussie, it pains me to say she looks very, um, Sydney. Aka tanorexia town.

  67. Edel

Oh, now I’ve read the comments, that’s Tasha from Home & Away? I thought I knew those eyebrows.

  68. Anon

Confusing poll…I read “DO” and my eyes skipped over “dis” in “disagree.” Misvote! I absolutely agree with you, the skin/makeup/hair combination does nothing for her.

  69. Alice

I remember Isabel on Home and Away, and she always had darker eyebrows than her hair, it’s kind of her signature look (mind you, when she first appeared on the show her character spoke nothing but Pig Latin). But yes, spray tan may save your skin, but it is also a menace to society when applied in copious amounts.

  70. Anonymous

her face is just TOO TAN. it’s even more tan than her legs. she used to rock the dark brows/blonde hair on Home and Away and it look fine because she looked all beachy/her hair vaguely natural blonde/her face not bright orange. but there is also something weird going on with that eyeshadow.

  71. Gabrielle

OH NO!!! I clicked the wrong box… please don’t judge me. I think she looks terrible. At least when Isabelle logs in she will now think that SOME people don’t think she looks bad. Actually, do you reckon that the other 1% of the 2% favourable vote was by Isabelle herself? Maybe. I’m NOT a fan(of Is or the tan/eyebrows/home and Away)
PS. Although the tourism victoria ad she is in currently is kinda cool.. its got that psirens song from “Oh Brother where art Thou” in it.. ah, memories of intern George

  72. Roberta

OK so Isabel IS one of the most gorgeous things to come out of Australia. She’s come so far from playing hippi love child on soap opera Home& Away. Before she hit the big time she used to get her brows done at the same, awkward north Sydney suburban salon as me and guess what – she looked amazing! Hollywood, back the truck up and ship her back to Summer Bay!

  73. alexandria

I find her insufferable, and yet she always looks so fresh and pretty, so on a personal level this photograph has been long overdue for me.

The dress is gorgeous, although unfortunately brings out the orange in her skin. And the eybrows teamed with peroxide blonde do are the icing on a particularly fuggy cake.

  74. Laura

oh dear. What happened to the Home & Away days? She looked so much better back then…

  75. guest

she has pinecones growing out of her ovaries.

  76. Gabi

So, my eight year old daughter just walked by and said “I like her here” (points to right photo) “better than here” (points to left photo). I think we can all agree that sums it up right there.

    http://www.visitvictoria.com/videos/index.cfm/vid.A0ABD719-F831-4E14-91B57B670E710E09/&cid=&scid=

I love the way she looks in this Tourism Victoria ad. Especially when she’s at the table eating the mullberries… the baptism bit is a bit odd but the ad shows how stunning this girl can be.

She does do the boho look so beautifully though

  78. Sam

The dress is great, but too much tan !!!

  79. Livlah

i feel like she thinks this is working for her? I think maybe she thinks “well, i live in LaLaland now, i should probably up the hair/skin contrast”

  80. lulu

She had this shade of blonde hair on H & A minus the fake tan and it looked gorgeous even with the dark eyebrows. Although it looks like they have dyed them darker or shaded them in. The tan needs to go. She is morhping into Sophie Monk… next will be ballon lips.

  81. PH

adorable dress. I wish she weren’t orange, though. The eyebrows don’t bother me as much as the orange.

  82. biiliijiin

From the neck down she looks great. WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE HAIR??? Fire them, right away. Next, target the make-up artist. I blame her for the tan.

  83. Kelly A

J – you did NOT need to post a close-up, nor an old photo, for the hideous orange-ness to be noticeable.

  84. Lexie

I can’t stand isabel lucas, she was crap on home and away and was glad when America took her off our hands…

  85. Kathy

Love the dress, but her legs are like toothpicks! Eat a sandwich, already!

  86. Fox

My sister won free tickets and said half of the movie was a commercial for the military–even if it does insult it. I have and had no interest in Car-small appliance-Robots so I didn’t see it.

    And about that girl–just no.

  87. nikki

this is why every girl needs brutally honest friends – so when she looks in the mirror and sees this and thinks, nah, i can get way with it, they can JUMP on her, armed with … like …. spray and wipe or something. ERK.

  88. Kate

I’ve never liked this chick – she was on some crappy Aussie soap up until a few years ago and even then had the black eyebrows / unwashed bleached hair going on. Not to mention a dull personality and no acting skills. When she left the show I thought hooray we’ll never see her again… argh.

  89. Liz

She looks like she’s been embalmed. Get some lipstick on!

  90. Jules

    She needs a new stylist.
I also disagree with the idea of bleaching eyebrows…
I think the biggest problem is the eye brows have more contrast than anything else, and stand out.
With some gold-ish brow mascara and/or powder, she could lighten the brows enough to make it more natural, then add more make up all over to keep from washing out.

  91. kyasarin

I like the dress. The dress is interesting and fun. The Orange-Glo spray tan? HORRIBLE! Seriously, whoever had the bright idea that turning perfectly normal-colored skin orange was the Way To Go needs to have his (her?) head examined. I so appreciate the Hollywood types who haven’t given in to the exhortation to spray-paint themselves. Palefaces, represent!

Either the hair needs to go darker or the eyebrows need to go lighter. She just looks silly right now.

  92. Hugh

I’m an Australian and this, sadly, is the look du’jour among Australian girls.

Everyone cakes themselves in fake tan, bleaches and straightens the life out of their hair, and has a terrifying propensity to wear gladiator sandals all the time.

    It’s truly horrendous.

  93. R

Totally hilarious review. Way to go, Roger!!!

  94. Sarah

Yeah, there is a craze for this look at my (Australian) university campus at the moment – white-blonde hair and bright orange skin. I am surrounded by oompa-loompas.

  95. maris

the poor thing looks like she’s going to a jersey prom I’ll refrain from making any more commments for fear of getting wacked by some good guys.

  96. Joanna

Holy eyebrows, Bumblebee! Did they intentionally fug her up to make Megan Fox appear hotter? What a shame. She looked so fresh faced and pretty in the comparison photo.

  97. Jenn

She looks like a very tall Oompa Loompa!

And I know I’m in the minority, but in the defense of Transformers: was anyone going EXPECTING cinematic brilliance? OK, so that’s less of a defense, but honestly I had fun watching it, however bad it really was.

GI Joe on the other hand felt like getting shot in the face. Slowly.

  98. Craig

The dress is so cute, but the hairstyle makes her look like she has a square head. What do they call that cut, a Spongebob?

The cute dress is ashamed. :(

  99. Emma

I don’t mind the dark brows (usually) as I think they’re natural, so somehow it works with her colouring. However this is totally negated when her own colouring is OBLITERATED with orange gunk that seeps into the roots of your plantinum blonde hair. I just want to scrub her face gently but thoroughly with warm soapy water, like you see British mothers doing in historical movies.

P.S. She’s currently in a WEIRD ad campaign in Aus promoting tourism in Daylesford (?). She goes swimming with some hot guy, wakes up in his bed, slips out to some ancient Tuscan-looking church and gets baptised by a totally different hot guy. So that’s what they do in Daylesford, I guess.

  100. Lemon

Frida Kahlo marries a blonde Oompa Loompa.

    Yuck.

  101. DoB

She’s pretty, doesn’t need the faux-tan. The dress is… Well it’s shape is nice. The print should’ve been limited to the bottom part, without that vertical line there and the two fancy leafy-whatever things which make it fug. She should really consider not doing the faux-tan thing again. Reminds me of that old lady from “Something about Mary”.

  102. sjms

She would look great if she wasn’t orange and had on different shoes.

  103. Andreea from Mybeautyblog

    @lemon *lol*

This is one of the worst make-ups I have ever seen, and I live in the german back province!
Actually, it IS the worst. I mean it takes something to make someone so beautiful to look like the love child of… any ideas?

  104. Minerva

I’m going to order this poor girl a bacon pizza, STAT.

  105. squeak

I find her unbearably tedious and irritating, and as such cannot judge this with an impartial eye.
Another bleached, over-tanned, underfed starlet? No, where?

  106. Liz

Is it just me, or does she…not actually look all that great in the picture on the right? I mean, it’s better than the picture on the left, simply because of the color of her face. And she is naturally very pretty. But her face looks weirdly shiny, and her hair doesn’t appear to have been washed or brushed, and come on, that hat does not look good on anyone. Not to mention that you can kind of see through her shirt. All I’m saying is, this is a fantastic piece of raw material; can’t anyone figure out how to polish it correctly?

Also, yes, Roger Ebert is completely awesome. I want to hug him all the time.

  107. Karina

This is atrocious. Did she sleep in a tanning bed?

  108. Poonam

I know you said politely, so by that I assume you meant no swearing? Anyhoo… she kind of looks like a dwarf. The ones with the very characteristic features… like the ones who played the oompa loompas in the original Charlie and the Choc Factory. Seriously. Her forehead looks even huger than it really is and that hairstyle and colour with all that tan just screams out… BORING! And Tango. Why has she not plucked her eyebrows properly?? She needs some solid food, and maybe forehead surgery. And smaller nostrils and just OMG this picture is not good!

  109. hayden

So ORANGE. Oh my god. Why SO ORANGE?

  110. Stephanie

    eyebrows.

    Eyebrows.

    EYEBROWSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  111. aditi

I like the eyebrows, I think it makes her look edgy and less like every other blond hollywood actress out there.

I think she just needed to ease up on the tanning

  112. JENNY

There is something wrong when you gradually get more orange as you go up your body. Her head is obviously Tangoed, but her legs look okay until you hit the ankles… And on that note, ew, deformed looking left ankle????

  113. Lu

Theoretically I like the dress, but it kind of looks like her ovaries are on fire.

    Also, fake tan blech.

  114. Lu

Theoretically I like the dress, but it kind of looks like her ovaries are on fire.

    Also, fake tan blech.

  115. Fact O'Life

Okay, I think we’ve established that this poor girl is orange, so I’ll leave that alone. (Except to say that she’s now precisely the color of her own lips, which makes her look old.) I’m cool with her eyebrows. They’re straight, they’re dark; they’re unremarkable. Now, this dress is 95% of awesome. I don’t love the big swirly bits at the side/waist areas, but you know what, I’ll allow that. However, I cannot tolerate those shoes with this dress. (Confession: I think I just hate them outright.) It CRIES OUT for minimalist toe-loop flats! In BLACK. Instead of gold shoes (the dress is plenty shiny), with twists (??) I’d prefer to see say, a single huge black ring.

But here’s the real problem: the hair.
OMG that hair makes me so SAD, you guys.
It needs to be dyed a deep gorgeous brown like, immediately. Not just to reverse the ill-advised bleach job, but darker than her natural color. Like, DARK. Teaky. That alone would not only look so awesome on her, it could even make the excessive tannage and the nonexistent lips work. She’d have a sort of mod, Mediterranean, spent-the-summer-on-a-friend’s-yacht-in-Nice vibe.

I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

  173. Elissa Heninger

i didnt know that, is there another article like that? because i really wanna know more about it

  174. ehowto

If you’re still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you’ll know which is right for you.

  175. Anderson Hoehne

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

No irritating button smashing any longer, a single word will do! You should really think about getting any Kinect!.
