Fug or Fab: Kristen Stewart

fug-or-fab

I had to use this picture:

Any hint of finger guns must be celebrated. If Kristen Stewart had gone through all her Twilight press giving finger guns, our relationship would have gotten off on wholly another foot. I find finger guns hilarious — both ironically, and then in a way that comes around to being totally non-ironic, sort of the way I love One Tree Hill because it’s terrible but I also actually legitimately really love One Tree Hill and think it’s awesome. My friend Katherine actually managed to get finger guns into her college ID picture. It was amazing. Especially as my college ID could have been subtitled: A Study in Perspiration.

But let’s take a better look at the dress, shall we? Is that not the reason we’re here?

Well, I LOVE the color on her. I don’t think her coloring has ever looked better. Actually — though please bear in mind that I may be totally fried from the amount of stuff we wrote about the Oscars this week, to the point that the word “OSCARS” no longer has any meaning to me and could just as easily be referencing hot dogs as awards shows — I think I kind of love it? I am somewhat concerned by the bodice. It MIGHT look a bit like an homage to the fan dance, and once the open bar gets going, the patches over her boobs might flutter away, leaving her topless. But as there is no LITERAL way for that to happen, I think I can deal with the metaphorical suggestion. In other words; two in a row for K. Stew, as far as I’m concerned. What on earth does this portend?

Well, I voted “Love it” but it might really just be because of the finger guns. Although the color is amazing on her. And finger guns!

  2. gin_in_teacups

I agree about the color and overall I like it. It’s fun and I think it works for the movie she’s promoting, and I don’t sheer “am I seeing boob there?” aspect of it. Its the patches. Something about them is strange. Their roundness and the way they attach to the bottom of the dress…they’re weird. She needs better patches and then this would be a home run.

  3. Clara

The colour is great and she’s very pretty, but K stew always seems to be missing something . . I’d add some bracelets, maybe different shoes, change the hair, can’t quite put my finger on it. She looks like someone’s little sister.

  4. Nichole

Hmm. I like her color, and the lower half. Maybe if her torso didn’t have droopy netting and oven mitts?

  5. gin_in_teacups

Lordy! I don’t MIND the sheer. Must learn to proofread.

  6. Anonymous

I just wish the sheer portion were the same fabric as the rest of the dress. Then it would truly be FAB.

  7. Peony

The two circular parts covering her boobs reminds me that I really love prosciutto.

  8. lori

The bodice needs to be tugged together and tugged up – then, great!

  9. Alisa

I rag on this poor girl all the time for her horrid choices, but she’s been sticking to the 12 step process of celebrity fug rehab and I feel like a proud mom.

Awww… she’s smiling. And not slouching. And wearing colour. And her hair doesn’t look greasy.
    So proud.

Our work here is done, let us all move on and help another celebrity, shall we?

  10. MzStilletto

    Finger guns ftw!

Oh, and the dress is OK too I guess. Great colour!

  11. Emily

You’re right about the color…it’s lovely on her. Her hair is bizarre though. And would a smile kill her?? I feel like I would like all of her outfits a million times better if she didn’t always have a scowl on her face.

  12. Kathleen

I don’t find the dress nearly as worrying as the hair. She reminds me of Squiggy, and while I wish David Lander the best, his is not a look a young woman should imitate for the Oscars. Or, well, anywhere.

  13. Celina

I actually voted that I love the dress–which I do–the color is amazing. However, while looking at the pic of Kristen, something dawned on me; everything that she wears seems to just be sitting on her frame. It’s not that her clothes don’t fit her, it’s that she’s a little stiff…or…something. Everything I see her in seems like it could fall off at any second.
I’m not sure I’m conveying my issue very well, but suffice it to say, Kristen looks as pretty as she ever has, and still…a bit off.

  14. jeckie

Weird, but fab. And yeah: finger guns = enough said. Love it!

  15. Christina

I voted “no” because the second photo was the first one that I saw (elsewhere) of the dress, and thus what stuck in my mind, and in that photo I don’t think it looks so good. The boob-patch that we can see clearly looks limp and… I mean, I know it’s SUPPOSED to be wrinkled and scrunched, but it looks like the kind of wrinkled and scrunched that happens when there’s just too much fabric there. The more I look at the finger-gun photo, though, the more I think that most of my problems with the dress are actually created by the way she’s standing in the second photo. So, we’re back to “STAND UP STRAIGHT, GIRL!” Except she’s not actually slouching that much in the second photo, so… now I’m wondering if a well-made dress should really be so unforgiving of a hand being put on a hip which is stuck out just a little. It seems like that shouldn’t completely ruin the look.

So, in other words, I’m just all confused.

  16. Tiffany

It is an amazing color. I just wish that there were…well, more of it. It just seems, somehow, like too little dress, as though it shrunk somehow while she was wearing it.

It makes me anxious that it’s just going to keep shrinking and rolling in on itself, like festive cling wrap when you’re late for a potluck.

  17. S&P

Love the colour and the makeup – KStew you are improving!

The dress I’m middle of the road about, the hair though frustrates me, do something with it, PLEASE

  18. kates

That bodice is horrific. It looks like what the JCPenney juniors department tries to get you to wear on Valentine’s Day.

Sorry, K-Stew. Even the great color can’t save this one.

  19. Slogr

I love the color, the makeup, the shoes, and the SMILE. Major improvements, but that doesn’t make it a LOVE. If you put this dress on anyone else it would be an automatic fug, just because she’s got a smile doesn’t make the outfit THAT much better!

  20. Bulldog

It’s the hair that’s off… unfortunately, reminds me of Eddie from The Munsters. Did anyone see her hair on Leno a few days ago? Perfect! Beautiful! This, meh, like she didn’t have the time to really deal with it. That said, I’m kinda lovin’ this girl more and more every day. There’s something about her that’s just interesting no matter what she does. You might say I’m placing her on auto-FAB.

  21. VenusInRetrograde

The color is so great I don’t want to pan the dress – if she tries this hard and we bray at her for being ridiculous then she might just give up and go back to wearing black hoodies again. But that dress is doing the same thing in the chesty region that Charleze’s Oscars dress was doing, and I do not approve.

  22. Mina

I think the color is amazing on her, though I do agree that the dress itself seems a bit … limp? It’s not so much the boob fans, as the way the material hits the hips. Otherwise, I think she pulls this off with aplumb, which, as we’ve seen in numerous other pictures of her outfits, she doesn’t always do. As for the hair? I love it! She hasn’t put in extensions and it’s one of the better “I’m growing out my mullet” looks I’ve seen. I think she looks great overall!

  23. robinlouise

i really like this, and i agree with one of the previous commentors – she needs some sparkly stuff or funky jewelry to really set this off. although k-stew freshly dressed, nicely coiffed, and not too slouchy must portend that the end is nigh.

  24. Julie

The bodice is pretty weird. This dress could be so much better. But the color is so perfect on her that I love it anyway. She looks fab.

  25. Anne (in Reno)

Love her attitude and her shoes and for once, her makeup. I agree on the need for a bit of jewelry and double agree on the weirdness of the boob patches. If that top half was solid I would be 100% behind this dress.

  26. Breda

LOVE the color. Love the cheerfulness – even in the second picture, she still looks happy, or at least not sullen. Do not love the dress. In fact, I kind of want this to be that pink dress Cameron Diaz wore way back when.

  27. Slego

Love the color on her but something about the dress makes me uncomfortable. Maybe it is because she spends the better part of her public life emiting an “I don’t care what you people think, I WILL live my life in skinny jeans and chucks so help me God” vibe that something which makes her look like she cares fightens me.

  28. Mary

So from the other comments (which I mostly agree with), somehow this dress seems to be both too big AND too small? The bodice reminds me of a vest, but one that’s too small, and she definitely needs a new hairdo and some sparkly bracelets or something. That said, the skirt is a fabulous length on her and her legs go on for daaaaays.
Also, can I just congratulate her on staying true to her pale self? At least it’s her DRESS that’s an orangey-pink, not her face!
One last thing – I think Dakota Fanning’s dress at this same premiere needs to be addressed because it was FUG.

  29. Anji

I’m thrilled to see she got a pedicure!

  30. granny

Can no one get this girl to a hairdresser?

  31. Brooke

I DO love the dress and agree the color is fantastic for her. However, I would love this more if her shoes had anything to do with the rest of this ensemble. I disagree that she needs sparkles – your readers are the biggest flock of magpies. And can we please banish the word “bling” back to rap video hell where it belongs?

  32. lil'me

I don’t like the “dress” but hey, she’s smiling, her hair is washed and combed, she’s not scoffing, fidgeting, looking ready to cry, she’s not (quite) slouching so, all in all – huge improvement

  33. YO

Love the dress, looks really savvy on her, but hate the hair. still looks unwashed, and i can’t tell if she just swooped it over with her hand and it is greasy enough to sit up or if it’s bouffant-esque intentional…

  34. Squeeziee

I feel like this whole look needs to be deconstructed from from the top down. So:

Hair: Shiny! Healthy! A bit pouffy (is that a word?), but a vast improvement.

    Makeup: Flawless.

Bodice: Nice colour, reminds me of salmon which makes me a bit hungry. Badly fitted and needs hoisting up.

Skirt: Length just right, the bits sown down from the bodice again remind me of salmon and am I still hungry. Wish the whole dress had been made from this material.

Shoes: Pretty, serviceable, matches her nail polish.

Overall: A big hit for KStew, if only the bodice didn’t make me dream of fancy food when all I have is cereal.

  35. becca

I love the dress – I actually covet it. The color is fabulous. Pale girls take note: I have decided that bright pink is truly the best color for pale girls with medium blond to dark hair. I am one such girl and every single time I wear that color I get a ton of compliments. K Stew needs to make that her signature color.

  36. Oblaadee

NO on the dress, looks like the junior version of Charlize Theron’s Oscar cake walk decorations!
The color is beautiful and it she needs it.

  37. Blanche

The dress? Yes, the color’s fine, but otherwise, No. I’m not going to go into it today. I will say I very much enjoy the matching shoes and fingernail polish.

I’m all for a finger guns celebration; and future ID photos: watchout! (I look forward to hearing more of Katherine’s excellent ideas.) But sometimes a point is just a point, n’est ce pas?

  38. Debbie

Love the color, hate EVERYTHING else, including her hair.

  39. Ellabella

Love the colour, it’s great. But it could do with fitting slightly better, or is that just me?

  40. mg

Love the color and the finger guns! Not so fond of the top half of the dress. The netting bib has sort of a droopy apron look to it…something Florence Henderson might have worn if Carol Brady went slutty.

  41. Katie

Love the color. Don’t love the dress.

Meanwhile – college ids. Mine was SO sweaty. Weren’t they all? It’s always still summer and hot when orientation starts and you spend all day going from place to place to place and then you get your id and you’re so sweaty and you get to keep it for 4 years.

  42. elizabeth

I am 75% with Alisa. She’s smiling, wearing color, hair doesn’t look greasy… but the slouching. Just because she’s slouching less doesn’t mean she’s not slouching. I’ll give her a B+ for the salute to Alberto Contador:
    http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/paris-nice-begins-now-says-contador

  43. Jen

The color’s a knockout, yes. But I think if that dress were on anyone else (say, Reese Witherspoon?) it’d be a hot mess. I wonder if we’re not giving her a pass because we’ve lowered the bar for her. (Hey! KStew’s not scowling! She doesn’t look like she’s fresh from beating someone down in the back alley!) I say, yes, it’s better, but there’s room for improvement.

  44. MN

Love the color on her, even though it’s a color I don’t usually like. The dress itself? I’m torn. Something about it makes it look too thrown on after it’s been rolled into a ball and shoved under a car seat for six months, and I’m not cool with that. Is it too big? Any smaller and it would kill her or make her naked, though.

I HATE her hair. It just reminds me of Rosie O’Donnell and love her to bits, but the woman is hardly an oil painting.

Otherwise, I’m liking the make up and I’m in love with the shoes.

  45. Wendy

I like it much more in the 3/4 finger guns angle, but it might just be that her hand on the fluffy at her hip is making it awkward in pic 2. Not sure.

    Regardless, color. YES. Make-up, YES.

Hair still needs something to my eye, but what the hell, for K Stew, things look good, and she looks pleased. The last is a major plus.

  46. Nic

It reminds me of the pink cinnamon bun bodice on Charlize Theron’s Oscar gown–like it’d work if you could just yank the bodice together, or carry the bodice design all the way across instead of having it shout, “Left boob under THIS circle! Right boob under THIS circle!”

On the other hand, I applaud her for wearing a COLOR. It’s fantastic, especially with the makeup. Very soft and pretty without being cutesy.

  47. Sara

This dress is beautiful on her, happy perky colour and for once her make up and hair look nice.

In an unrelated note, the lack of definition in her calves annoys me and I don’t know why.

  48. Allie

Color is splendid on her. She looks young and slim. She is almost happy.
However – silhouette of dress – not in the slightest bit flattering. Bodice – ick.
AND FOR HEAVEN’S SAKE, why can’t she EVER look like she washed her hair in the past week? It always looks greasy disgusting.
No matter how delicious the attire – a coif of stringy, yucky hair just kills it for me.

  49. Sara

I totally love the color on her. I wish I could pull that color off, but no.

Her hair is probably the best growing out do I’ve seen to date. We can all be honest and say that without the help she has, there is no way a mere mortal could grow out a Jett-inspired hairstyle without shaving it all off and starting from scratch. Yes, it was scary at first, but it’s really starting to look intentional lately.

Yeah, the bodice is eh. It really does look like the Keebler elves are giving her girls a little loving from the oven from behind. Totally oven mitts. I could get on board with a strapless looking bodice and mesh shoulders. Also, I applaud that it is pink mesh and not flesh toned. That I would have to fug.

  50. Christiana

Love how pretty she looks, love the color (she sorta matches the poster behind her!), love the shoes, love the finger guns and her generally happy expression. HATE HATE HATE the latest trend of bib-mesh boob-grabby bodices. Ugh.

  51. Anonymous

The top part reminds me of Charlize Theron’s boob roses. But I love those shoes on her. And even if she’s not smiling (my entire opinion on her can be swayed with a smile), she doesn’t look like she showered in R.Pattz’s love sweat either. So I’ll say go for it, if the middle part weren’t sheer.

  52. Heather

I appreciate the color, but the dress itself looks a bit too much like a ‘first few episodes of Project Runway before they’ve eliminated the random people’ bottom 3 to me.

  53. Anna

Love the color on her, but do not like the dress. Or her yucky hair. Seriously girl, shower daily…PLEASE!

  54. Tere Liz

The neckline could be more flattering.

I think I have more of a problem with the neckline than the boob patches. It makes her shoulders look huge, especially without any earrings or a chunky bracelet to draw attention away from her shoulders. Her hair still looks greasy and unkempt to me.

Yeah, it’s nice to see her in some color, but I feel like this dress is wearing her. She needs to “own” this dress to really make it rock–some funkier accessories would help! Ordinarily I wouldn’t pair black shoes with such a frilly, summery dress, but she’s going with the pink and black colors used in the movie poster, I guess.

    Could have been worse!

  55. Sophie

She is just so much prettier when she’s smiling!

Wow. I sound like my grandmother. Anyway, I love the colour but I don’t like the neckline or the weird boobcovers. We’re getting there, Kristen. Slowly.

  56. Tina

Thank god she had a mani pedi this time….

  57. Amanda

Kristen. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WASH YOUR HAIR. And then make it look like you’re not in 1987! And then we will talk about your clothes.

  58. Gretchen

Would be better if she stood up straight and had some accessories. Same with the Oscar dress. Kristin needs to learn to wear some earrings or a bracelet.

  59. Alison

Aside from the total Little Mermaid-ness of the bodice (is no one else seeing sea shells?), I enjoy the color. And the finger guns, obviously.

  60. Kathryn

Love the colour on her and the dress itself is ok, shoes are great

however – she always, to me anyway, looks as though she needs a shower – greasy hair syndrome

  61. Celia

The way she poses makes her look very unclassy. It’s just not cute or flattering. Someone needs to tell her to stop it.
That takes away from the dress and so does the hair. The hair is HIDEOUS!
But I like the color on her. At least it’s not black or white.

  62. Susan

Love it. Perfect for the premier. She really stands out in the group pictures.

  63. vandalfan

The finger-gun smile is the best her face has ever looked. Too bad the second pose is her standard sulky thigh-proffer. I love the color and like the dress, but would like it better if the breast-pot-holders did not extend down her hips. I think her gorgeous gams make up for the non-hairdo.

But this gal certainly is slouching. It looks like her mom let her go all through her childhood without snapping “Stand up straight, honey!” and she stuck that way.

  64. nmlhats

Note from K. Stew’s mom: “Honey, I keep telling that you look so much prettier with a smile! Put on a happy face!”

  65. evalyn

I like the color, not the bodice so much, it looks fragile and droopy – a bit too much 1959 cocktain apron-ish for me. Speaking of 1959, the Ricky Nelson/Porter Wagner pampador is too, too ugly. Young Woman: wash thy hair.

  66. Danielle B

I think a big part of how great K.Stew looks here is her makeup. I have never seen it look better.

That and these pictures seem to convey (gasp!) an actual fun personality beyond Bella and beyond her usual pouty schtick, which I feel is very put-on.

  67. AnnieC

I’m sorry. I want to comment on Kristen, I really do, but I’m too distracted by KENDRA all over your page. She’s on my left, her name’s on my right….. it’s a wee bit of overkill, dontcha think?

  68. MrPlywood

    Is she ALWAYS stoned?

  69. autumnpearl

    Seriously? Like everyone loves this?

I’ll admit the color is fab on her, as is her make-up, but she looks like she cut up her grandmother’s lingerie to make this “dress.” I sound like I’m 80 years old her, but I would never let my daughter out of the house in that.

  70. wakeupmaggie

    Nice colour. Great colour.

The whole fabric grabbing the boobs from behind is getting to me. Anna Lynne McCord was wearing one (albeit much more structured) a while back, then more recently someone I am too lazy to look up (but who was compared to A-LC), and now this.

It’s not that great a look and the novelty factor is like, so over. If this is the best a designer can do to make his/her garment remarkable they might as well stop designing.

  71. Sherri

Color is beautiful. Cut, not so convinced. Boobshields, REALLY not convinced. Hair…did someone make Jiffy Pop on her head? No no no, can’t find love for the hair. Shoes are good, though. Extra points for the shoes.

She IS a very lovely young woman. She also seems committed to the “look tough/look bored/look uncomfortable” face. I mean, we’ve SEEN she can smile and she has a KILLER smile. She’s ok enough to do fingerguns, for pete’s sake. I no longer buy the “young actress is uncomfortable with attention” argument. It is incongruous. There’s something else going on — someone, somewhere told her she didn’t look sexy when she smiled, or told her she wouldn’t be taken seriously if she didn’t put on a tough expression, or some kind of misinformation. Or she’s trying to mimic some high fashion model post and expression, and it’s failing (even models smile at these events.)

It makes me unhappy because, damn, she IS lovely and her smile is beautiful.

  72. b

I agree that the colour is fabulous – and she actually looks prettier here than I’ve seen her look in a loooong time… look at that face! – but the cut/design of this dress is really poopy. The chest area is conjuring images of Charlize Theron’s Oscar dress for me, in that it seems they both had some colourful fabric-man standing behind them holding up their boobs.
Also – and I say this as a girl with a similar skin/hair tone and body type to Kristen – I think her legs are too pale and shapeless to wear dresses this short. I’ve tried to wear them too, but I always end up looking a little ill or something, and I think she suffers from the same problem.

  73. Shan Shortcut

I love the colour on her, it looks fab.
And she finally looks HAPPY and confident, rather than all “shy, awkward girl…”

    But the bodice…
I really can’t make up my mind on it. It kinda makes the dress interesting…but then at the same time there is something fug aobut it.
I think my mind is fried from all the Oscar stuff as well…can’t make up my mind.

The shoes are cute – nice and simple, so that there is no clash with the cress.
The hair…I wish she had done something cute and delicate, rather than the weird beehive-back-combed-mullet combo.

  74. Anonymous

It may not be the best dress ever… but the simple fact that it is a bright, girly color and the fact that KStew is making a face that doesn’t make her look like she hates being famous and getting to go to fabulous events make it pretty damn good in my book.

  75. Susu

Finger guns remind me of Pinky Tuscadero: slap, slap, double guns!

  76. Kirsten

HELL to the no. Any positive effect from the color (which, I must say, admirably toes the line between pastel and pepto bismol), is negated by (1) her horrible posture; (2) her horrible hair; (3) the generally vapid stare she constantly sports; and (4) the shoes, which are a total snooze-fest.

Moreover, am I the only one in the world who thought she was coked out at the Oscars? I mean seriously, what was with the hair fiddling and the leg shaking???

  77. Claire's mom

Color: flattering on her. Check. Pose #1: cute expression with finger gun. FINGER GUN. (I want my daughter to end her gymnastics floor routine with finger guns pointed at the judges – she just rolls her eyes at me. Kids!) Check. Pose #2: no smile but very sort of neutral and not all emo-y. Chee-eck. Manicure/pedicure: black (because she’s edgy, dammit). Checkaroo. Grease ball hair: wait – what??? Could she not have just had it natural and combed? Oooh, so close, girlie.

The dress itself? It looks like she’s got a GIANT heart on her back and the edges are wrapping around juuuust enough to cover the lads. The netting bit at the neck is too negligee.

OK, maybe less close than “so”. Still. I guess. Her face looks pretty. Can I be done now?

  78. finger guns rule

The color is amazing and conceptually the design is great as well, though something about the fit just doesn’t work. Also, I cannot get on board with that hair.

  79. Mona

She looks youthful, but not her usual “I’m 14, I listen to Radiohead and I hate you all, especially you, Mom and Dad” kind of youthful. The way the dress is built does make her look like a totally boob-less 14 year-old, though. Is she flat-chested? Is this just a flattening dress? I don’t remember and and I’m too lazy to browse through pictures of K.Stew just to stare at her boobs. Otherwise, it’s a flatteRing dress, as well. I would wear it.

  80. Anonymous

I kind of want this dress.

But why is her hair always so bad? It always looks a bit like she styled it with vaseline. She’d look much cuter with bangs, don’t you think? I prefer her with blonde hair too. She looks so much sunnier with blonde hair.

  81. Kim

wow. that colour is hideous. i guess i’m the only one, judging from the comments, but YUCK. not exactly sure how it flatters her, but i guess it’s not black, so that’s something.

everything about this looks awful to me, from the colour to the cut to the fit to the hair and finally to the pretentious overwrought sultry scowl she tries to pull every time she’s in front of the camera. ugh.

maybe one day her stylist will learn how to dress her.

  82. DW

I like it in this picture where she is standing just so, but there is a picture on People.com where she is doing one of those side-huggy things with Dakota and it is doing her NO favors, which makes me very iffy on the whole thing.

  83. greenfieldmorning

She looks inoffensive for once but have you seen the pics of her standing next to Joan Jett? Poor tyke can’t hold up against the real deal.

  84. Blimunda

Seems like I’m hours late to the party but I couldn’t NOT comment…love the color, hate the hair (am thinkin she needs a 10-series pass with an Alexander instructor to get that pelvis to stop retreating when she stands in heels), the rest sux blah blah blah.

But I am just STUNNED that I seem to be the only citizen of FN who did NOT drink the KStew Oscars kool-aid! Srsly! Thought I’d find some kindreds about THAT subject in THESE comments; imagine my surprise!

LOVELOVELOVE KStew and was SO sad to see her give in and play dress-up on Sunday night (why hold your ground – misinformed though it was – for two years and then give up for a dress that should have been worn by someone 10 years older?!)…and this boob-patchy PinkyT number isn’t the relief I had hoped for.

  85. sarah b.

love it! it’s a great color with her skin & hair, and she looks comfortable & happy in it.

  86. Lizzybear

While I love the color and the fingerguns, I’m not sure about the dress itself.

  87. Sharon

I love it, but I think it’s because she was actually smiling in that first picture! I mean, she looked HAPPY.

  88. M.Amanda

Eh, I would like this more if the sheer part was solid, but it is a great color and she looks so lively, even in the non-smiling picture, so pass.

  89. maryann

At first I thought, that color’s AWFUL on her. Then I realized, after you raved about the color, that it was the color of the shoes that was throwing everything off. The black is too harsh with that peachy-pink. A softer-colored shoe, maybe a grey, would have worked better. As would more finger guns. Also, the dress is a little too lingerie for me.

  90. MaL

Yeah! Kristin is smiling! And looks gorgeous! As her funkily colored nails! I like the color and the concept of the dress but somehow, the bottom part looks a little too much like a diaper.. But she rocks, so it’s a love it

  91. Antof9

Here’s the thing — does something become “fab” just because “everything else before it made me want to put out cigarettes with my eyes”?

So maybe it’s not that dramatic, but “it’s not as bad as before” does not “great!” make.

    Finger Guns FTW!

  92. Kat

If she would just FIX HER HAIR she could be such a pretty, pretty girl. I would love to see it long, but even a cute bob would be INFINTATELY better than what she’s got going on right now.

  93. ortenzia

There are a lot of comments so if this has been said, let it be known that I agree – the torso of the dress is too short. It needs to lengthen and not be a hip-hugger babydoll dress.

That being said, I officially have cartoon hearts popping love for dress colors that match ones blush … and Kstew has some pretty rockstar shoulders (although her hair needs to be refashioned into a cute shaggy bob look so as to avoid the inbetween desired length mullet thing she can’t escape).

  94. Charlotte

    LOVE the color.

LOVE seeing her smiling and happy.

HATE the neckline. I am not crazy about the boob patches either but the neckline is UGH.

  95. Lib

    One word: cankles.

  96. Melk

I don’t care for the dress I am just rejoicing to see her smile and stand up straight for a change. It changes everything. She looks great.

  97. Kel

Hate the dress – the length, the structure, the weird top – but LOVE the color on her and LOVE the finger-guns. The dress itself looks like something I might have bought from DEB or Foxmoor in the early 90s.

  98. Liz

I LOVE the color on her, and I also love that she’s not pulling a face in these pictures. I do NOT love the top of the dress, just because it looks so slap-dash and hastily constructed and cheap. I think the halter effect is good, but I think something more… opaque, I suppose, would be prettier.

I can’t get over how much I love the color, though. It’s like highlighter pink but less obnoxious. Love.

  99. Carolyn

She’s SO SO SO PRETTY when she smiles. I wish she would do it more. But I love this dress… she’s young and funky enough to pull it off. Also, I love the finger guns too :D

  100. heather

Great colour, and I love when she smiles–generally she annoys the crap out of me, but she’s actually pretty when she smiles. And I love that she’s wearing less makeup lately. Looks better on her.

But the top half of the dress is pure fail. It’s not flattering at all.

  101. francescaconstantina

girlfriend tore it UP! i’m so glad she stopped slouching and got a pedicure!

  102. Liz

    @Lib – Cankles? WTF?

She’s got the best legs (ankles included) in the business!

Even though many people don’t like the lack of jewelery, I think Kirstin has a very distinctive red carpet style (mini dress + bed hair + hot shoes). She knows who she is and won’t change, regardless of our recommendations.

  103. Mary

The dress is fine. Her clothes are not the problem. It’s her posture and her sourpuss that keep her from looking A+ all the time.

  104. Jeremy

Bitch has the kind of face that’s kind of pretty, but only actually looks good when supported by nice hair, which she never has. She needs to actually do something with her hair besides dipping it in bacon grease before she goes out for the day.

  105. Karen

First off, is that a SMILE I see?! She looks so much better with a smile on her face.

The color is great. I like the bottom half but the top half sucks. It looks like if she stood up really straight, that her boobs would peek out from behind the crinkly oven mitts covering them (not fond of the ruffling/gathering down her hips either. I think if it had been a simple sheath dress made out of the same fabric as the skirt or if it was paired with a smart black and white patterned top of some sort (black, pink and white are hot right now), it would be WORLDS better.

  106. Mirror

She has amazingly long legs, but they’re not the shapeliest. They just kind of taper from thigh to ankle with no real definition. Which is fine–I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with her legs, and anyway it isn’t like she could change that–but I don’t think minidresses are the most flattering look on her.

The hair is kind of ick to me, but I’m willing to concede I may just be having a get-off-my-lawn moment.

I will say I’m glad she looks like *herself*. So many of these young women are bleach-blond, painfully bony carbon copies of one another. KStew at least has her own look and appears, to me anyway, to be a naturally lanky girl who isn’t in desperate need of a sandwich despite being extremely thin.

  107. WendyPinNJ

Why does this girl have an aversion to ACCESSORIES???? Nary a bracelet or an earring to be found. And she can get them FREE!!!!

I don’t get it. Is it that she’s just too cool to be bothered.

    Pull it together, girl!

  108. Catherine

The color is great, but otherwise, I don’t care for it, if only because Kristen Stewart is wearing it. I do not care for her at all, and therefore pretty much anything she wears I cannot like. Except her shoes; I like her shoes.

  109. Essi

I do like this, if only because the color is so pretty on her. AND, not to seem creepy, but; girlfriend’s got legs! Seriously. And finger guns! So all in all, how has a little wittle mullet ever hurt anyone?

  110. harfang

Dudes. I am about as likely to come down hard on the flamboyance/weirdness of someone playing Joan Flippin’ Jett in the movie for which this is the opening party as I am to come down on Joan herself. Who, incidentally, is still built very much like Stewart. To be fair, only annoyingly-perfectly twiggy girls and women on the short end of things can pull this off — which means Kristen has total validity here (as would Joan).

  111. Rayna

Shoes – which I normally don’t comment on – nice, classy looking.

    Finger guns – cute, playful!

    Smile – priceless!

    Color – young,cheery.

Dress – totally icky, cheesy, unflattering, low rent skank look.

Will someone please dress this nice little girl in something that shows her off properly?

  112. Potato

She looks positively darling when she smiles. I’d say she actually nailed this one, as odd as the dress is. Someone older couldn’t really pull it off, but it looks super cute and flirty on her. Just do something about her hair and this would be perfect.

  113. daryl

color is gorgeous, dress isn’t too bad and looks pretty good on her but her hair freaks me out. if it had been a little lower, just a small reference to the ’80′s, but it looks kind of like patrick swayze in Ghost….(is that right? i have the picture in my mind but i also have a black hole there, too, thanks to hormones or lack thereof!)

  114. Sidney

Hey I got a finger gun into my college id too!

But on the outfit- girlfriend needs to look in a mirror. I have no idea how all of these people can look at themselves and actually think “Wow, this looks great. I’m going out in public!” It truly baffles me…

  115. sableized

I just love her Ziggy Stardust hair.

  116. Smith

I don’t care HOW good your legs are or how EXPENSIVE your shoes were, black and fluro is just WRONG. It cheapens the whole thing. I know she’s like, emo, and shit, but sister, if you were properly committed to that whole shindig, you probably wouldn’t be wearing a fluro pink cocktail dress now would you. All I’m asking for is a bit of consistency. Simple.

  117. Anonymous

Since when is K-Stew allowed to use finger guns? This should be outlawed. Her hyperventilating-disguised-as-acting self has obviously been working on this with her people all week, they told her that such hand-gestures would make her more likeable, but i see through it! You cant fool me you greasy haired ‘i wear converse on the red carpet because i’m that rocknroll and super apathetic about my celebrity status’ fame whore. hate the dress, hate the shoes, hate her.

  118. billijiin

i don’t usually get upset when people fab the fugly dress on this site. i like to keep a little perspective…
BUT SERIOUSLY PEOPLE! if frederick’s of hollywood produced pork products, this dress would be the logo.

  119. lew

the dress is great, although, in her special way she makes everything look semi-ill-fitting. and something about her hair is making her head look as long as her legs.

How on earth did someone so bland get so famous?

…and I rode in an elevator with Joshua Jackson today. He is very handsome and he held the door like a gentleman.

  120. Lauren

If you want to show off cleavage, then do it with reckless abandonment. Not this half-hearted chiffonsy mess.

  121. Emma

Color is good, smiling is good, boob patches are bad and how does she still manage to look greasy?

  122. Jane Lane

It makes her look stocky in the waist.
    Sort of barrel-torsoed.
The poor thing doesn’t have much of a waist to begin with. Surely there’s some style of garment available that could help disguise this defect, rather than highlighting it.

  123. Cherise

The colour of the dress is gorgeous and Kristen looks adorable in the first picture. I’m not too fond of the dress itself though, but she definitely has been making better choices (or hired a more competent stylist, ha) on the red carpet lately (LOOOVED her Oscars dress! <3).

  124. Shannon

The dress itself is not the best but its NOT the worst. The color is awesome. Her make-up, hair, and personality are nice to see. I love the shoes. They make her legs look hot thank god she ditched the converse for the red carpet.

  125. venal

color yes, bodice, no. And I agree that her clothes look pasted on, she doesn’t fill them. And I just want to repeat how much I hate the bodice, especially the neck. It reminds me of a dress my little “Dawn” doll wore.

  126. Sarah

The only thing I can think of when I see her hair is Elvira minus the hairspray. Sort of a feminine version of the classic mullet we all know and love.

As far as the dress…it is ill fitting, just like everything I have ever seen her in. Well, it is really just ugly, but at least it is a pretty color and her skin looks fantastic. And she is standing up straight(ish).

And it does have to be said that the girl has got great legs!

  127. Maryscott O'Connor

I will be so happy when people stop hiring this sullen, slouching, unshowered, talentless ingrate so I can stop being confronted with images of her in poor fashion choices every other week.

  128. Aaaagh!

HER KNEES. What about the red marks on her knees??? If ever there was a time for pants…

  129. Alexandra

What I don’t get, is that she always looks like a teenager in the middle of a painful period of juvenile arthritis – all slouchy, and knees at strange angles….Poise, girl! Head high! Back straight!

  130. Wanda

I’m just so glad to see she knows how to smile! She actually looks like she has a personality here.

  131. Anonymous

Due almost entirely to the finger guns picture I have gone from thinking she is annoying and a little bit unattractive, to having the biggest girl crush on her.

  132. Teri

i don’t love the dress, but i do love the fact that she doesn’t appear to be pouting and acting like a sullen teenager.

  133. emmalinemarie

I want her makeup artists number – beautiful

  134. Aline

I don’t like the hem on it. It’s so abrupt and it doesn’t do much for her legs. Some frills on there and I would have been totally on board.

  135. Robyn

Well, I do love the colour. AND FINGER GUNS.
I would totally love the entire thing if it hadn’t had the see-through part.

  136. fi

The dress itself is cute as a button but I’m so sick of seeing her in all-kinda-the-same-minidresses. Try something different, girl!

  137. LizJ

I love the color, the skirt is fine, I hate the translucent parts on the top, and her poor legs look really cold. I’d make the top part opaque and save the entire outfit for summer.

None of it is worse than her horrible hairstyle, but her makeup is perfect and she still looks beautiful.

  138. Jess

Not bad. But god I wish she would stop it with that hair.

  139. Claire

i think she really suits it but if you look at her shoulders then it looks like shes sunburnt and the dress makes her skin look really pink. Also i think she needs to do something different with her hair like maybe not have it pinned back. Apart from those too points, i am inlove with this outfit.

  140. mariana

The hair, DEAR GOD, the hair. Why does it ALWAYS, ALWAYS look like she’s just been at the gym??? Avril Lavigne was an indie kid (ha ha) and she had LOVELY hair to begin with. Shiny. Clean-looking. who is letting this go on???
but the dress is lovely. She’s looking out of suicidal territory, and finger guns – YES.

  141. SmR

The netting needs to become the same fabric as the rest of the dress, then I’m OK with it. Otherwise she looks FAB – her legs look about eighteen feet long, the shoes are classic, and I don’t mind the hair or the black polish- it lets her keep some of her own style and not become too cookie-cutter.
And not only is she looking happy- finger guns! J’approve.

  142. Jo

She just never looks happy in these red carpet events…(the smile looks pretty forced here, IMHO). I actually feel sorry for her. I wonder if her apparent discomfort at these events makes her slouch so much. Her posture is always terrible, and it makes what she wears look off.

I agree with the poster about the Eddie Munster hair…where was her stylist?

  143. Leah

Oh, Krissy, so close, and yet so far away. I agree with whoever talked about half-assing the clevage, do it or don’t but don’t pretend. Nice color, decent makeup, terrible hair, TAKE A POSTURE class. I feel like it’s that scene of “A league of their own” where they have to talk classes to be ladies and Madonna is all boobs away and Gena Davis is perfect. In this scenario, Kristen Stewart is the Rosie O’Donnell. IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT, TWILIGHT GIRL?

  144. Tassie

Love the color. So-so the design. I think she looks more comfortable then we’ve ever seen her. For that alone I give it a thumbs up. Smile or no it’s great to see her exuding some confidence! Way to go Kristen!

  145. gurl with a curl

The color is awesome and her legs look great, but the dress really does look like it’s in imminent danger of flying away and leaving poor Kristin cold and naked. I would lie it better if the neckline was reinforced, or something.

  146. Brie

I’m not crazy about the style of the dress. It’s so weird around the boob area.

But I will give it a pass because the color is beautiful on her, and she’s actually smiling! Seriously, her whole demeanor looks different.

  147. The Moonay

Finger guns and coloring, not the dress. The top part is fuglious.

  148. lori

Lifeless, talentless. Needs to wash her hair. Always looks dirty, but not as much as Pattinson. That’s about all the good I can say about her. Oh, yeah…she also looks like a stoner.

  149. lori

Lifeless, talentless. Needs to wash her hair. Always looks dirty, but not as much as Pattinson. That’s about all the good I can say about her. Oh, yeah…she also looks like a stoner.

  150. mazarin

Boob patches should be hiked up about 4 inches, and the waist dropped about 4 inches, and I think it would be really fab. Her legs look awesome in that dress, and those shoes are smokin’. But someone, for the love of God, get that girl a new hair stylist. A rough chop, a side part with some shaggy bangs, it’d be edgy enough to satisfy her, without looking like she stole her grandpa’s Brill Cream.

  151. Katie Starfish

I think it’s awesome because she is wearing the hell out of that f*cker. And the colour is just astoundingly gorgeous on her. And look at those gams. And she has semi-decent posture. And I actually love that haircut. And her makeup is great.

    Wow. It’s all good! :)

  152. jb

NO NO NO! I do not understand WHY everyone is so far up this girl’s ass, she always looks so awkward and uncomfortable and I hate her hair and fashion sense. The color is great but that dress is hideous and cheap looking, not to mention the sheer top portion is tacky. Give me a break!

  153. jean

She’s working it and it looks kind of happy. That said, this makes her torso/chest look unnaturally narrow. But again, she looks happy, so go for it! And she doesn’t look like every other starlet in the world. Isn’t she like 5 foot 2 as well? She seems short to me, so this does wonders to lengthen her.

  154. Jen

I can’t get past her hair. I keep thinking of Alicia Silverstone in Clueless.

  155. Crass

Why on Earth does she always use the same pose in photos – ie: the twee thing with the left leg bent? It only emphasises how skinny her calves are.

  156. christy

yeaqh I have to agree the color is great and I think she cleaned up really great, and the fit seems nice… but the sheer part is weirdly constructed, like Charlize’s boob roses but a little bit less distracting… though I wish the sheer part covers less areas, and more solid partsin the middle, like maybe converging the bust into a very deep V or sweeheart neckline… though overall it’s still a well played dress for the most part…

  157. Missy J

I love the dress – color, cut, all of it. Her makeup is great and its nice to see her actually use her facial muscles every now and then. But, her hair… IT IS KILLING ME. The hair must go.

  158. victoria

The color is great for her, but it bears an unfortunate resemblane to Charlize’s boob roses and the fit does nothing for her figure.

  159. karina

The color IS nice, but the rest? Where do I start?

1: Her hair makes her forehead look like Bride of Frankenstein.
2: Her t!ts are way too small to be showcased in a dress like this. She needs something with more coverage so she can wear a well-padded bra.
3: She has no shape to her calves, so should stick to pants and long skirts.
4: Her legs are kind of purplish pink, like maybe she has circulation problems?
5: She doesn’t even know how to do a good finger gun. It looks more like she was pointing “This way out.”

  160. Hannah

I think I might just have a left over dislike of her from her constant sullen ‘I hate everything’ attitude that we always see on the red carpet but it’s just not doing it for me.
It might also be the hair and the fact it ALWAYS looks greasy.

  161. RenaissanceGrrl

I HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE the color. And the sheer section between her boobs. Frankly, this looks slutty.

  162. melisa

Personally, I love it from the boobs down, but that ruched pink-ilusion-netting halter-neck ruins the entire thing for me.

Other than that and the hair (gah… WHY IS IT ALWAYS THE HAIR), she looks super cute.

Seriously, though… she appears to have nice, healthy, reasonably thick hair, but it would look sooo much better if it were in a cute style, or really ANY style, or at least, you know, thoroughly brushed! I think the most “styled” I’ve seen her hair was in a lame half-pony (you know, top layer up, bottom layer down). She’s on the Forbes list of top 10 highest-paid teen actors – isn’t that enough reason for a girl to splurge on a hairstylist for red carpet events?!

  163. Terrin

Smile! Did you see the smile? She looks so good when she is not stumping around with a grimace on her face that I can’t even pay attention to her dress. I’m sure it’s nice or whatever, but seriously – The Smile!

  164. Melisa

Pink iLLusion netting. Gah, and I was all, “I don’t need comment preview! I’m sure I didn’t make any mistakes!” Somehow that keeps happening to me when I comment on GFY…

  165. Rachel

Has Kristen Stewart finaly discovered the wonder that is a shower? She looks so clean, fresh, and HAPPY these days! Although the boob patches are reminiscent of Charlize Theron’s Oscar dress,I still like Kristen’s dress. I just wish she’d DO HER HAIR!

  166. Rebecca

Thhe shoe shop I work at sells identical shoes to hers!

I bought them yesterday but in champagne silk with black lace over the top :)

    So pretty!!

P.S Her dress is a nice colour, but i don’t love it. At least it looks like she has washed/ brushed her hair..

  167. Kate

I don’t really care for the dress. The color IS fantastic for her, which combined with the finger gun fun, clean-looking (if not well-styled) hair, and general lack of emo-ness in the picture still makes it a win. Not a fashion win, but a win for KStew. Thank you, Kristin, for finally looking as if you’re enjoying your good fortune.

  168. Chad

Love the dress. HATE her hair, makeup, & pickleface.

  169. TippyL

I quite like the bodice and the color. I voted for Love It, even though I really just like it. I don’t like the waist – looks like it should have been tailored better to her frame. Looks a little loose.

Her makeup looks great and the hair’s OK. Clean, at least. And look, she’s smiling! That’s a win right there.

  170. grrr

I don’t even care about the dress. I just wish she’d do her hair for once.

  171. Anonymous

I just don’t think she’s meant to wear feminine things. This looks like someone playing dress-up with momma’s negligee.

  172. Amanda

Dear K. Stew, pumpkin, you have A LOT going for you…you’re main sqeeze is uber hot, you’re beautiful, and YOU’RE ONLY 19! You’re dress is fabulous and I severely want want your shoes…but please, PLEASE change. you. hair. That’s all Bella.

  173. Anonymous

Everything about the look is tacky.

She is so slim, but appears to have NO muscle tone in any part of her body. I find it a little creepy.

  175. coexxi

Nice color but I don’t care for the cut and the bodice at all.

  176. Janice

Yeah the color is amazing. The finger-guns are also amazing. The bodice is lackluster at best and doesn’t do anything for her at all. Not a fan.

  177. Rafi

The dress is nice, and she’s wearing killer shoes, but she’s just so akward, that any dress you put on her (even if it’s the world’s most amazing dress) doesn’t seem to fit. She’s missing that something that makes other celebrities pull off a style, and the hair…so awful…..

  178. Kel

So glad she is finally smiling in a picture.

  179. vinda

hey, she looks cute and attractive in the first picture. it’s fun seeing her made such expression. the pink dress looks fab on her, although i think she’d rock the dark beauty look better!

  180. NYCGirl

It is a nice color. And she’s smiling! But I don’t like the skimpiness of the top, and I still don’t like the hair. And, I have to say, I didn’t like her Oscars dress. It looked to me like it was falling off her.

  181. Emily

LOVE the color on her. Love it. But…both the top of the dress and the hair have me saying NO to this.

On the other hand, the finger guns! And her expression in the first photo may be the most fun and happy I’ve ever seen her look. So +5 for that.

The biggest benefit of the beach is that there are no pointed rocks so you can enjoy yourself barefooted.
