Nothing about this dress, at first, struck me as particularly remarkable one way or another.
Lisa here looks cute in it, and it’s sort of appealingly retro with a modern flair on the collar. But I confess, I breezed right past it until a reader e-mailed this morning and asked us to take a closer look:
This person wrote, “Her collar is made of PRINGLES.” And it DOES kind of look like a cross between my favorite stacking snack food and an Elizabethan neck ruff. I’m still not sure that I MIND — in fact, it might enhance my view of this dress, and has also inspired me to invent a line of clothes with built-in snack food. You will love the Cheeto earrings, bras made of Tostitos Scoops, wax lips that will actually stay on your face if you want them to (and you DO), and of course, a cocktail-weenie dress. Hopefully Lisa will be one of our first celebrity supporters. After all, it’s safe to wear these creations to star-studded events, because about 75 percent of these people are allergic to eating.

I love to see craftsmanship in fashion, so I LOVE this. Look at that! It’s BEAUTIFULLY made, and the whole thing, as you said, is very appealing in outline. It’s the very opposite of Keira Knightley’s Miu Miu outfit, the cost of which could probably supply every amputee in Haiti with prosthesis, and which, despite that, looks like a My First Home Ec Project in closeup.
I will say that it’s walking the border between “tunic” and “dress”, and I’d feel happier about it if she was wearing it with a pair of opaque tights, but other than that, stunning.
Those poor kneecaps have apparently had a rough life. A hemline below the knees Lisa?
I vote GORGEOUS. The shoes seem kind of off though. Not just because I think they’re fugly, but I kind of crave some white go-go boots here. Must be just me.

I think she looks fantastic (especially considering how she is usually dressed). I can get behind the dress because it well made and unique. I would have like a different shoe but all in all a thumbs up!

I don’t mind this little number on Ms. Edelstein. It a tad boxy in the torso, but that’s what makes it kinda That Girl retro.
She’s a lovely woman; beautiful eyes.
With those elderly-looking knees and awkward sleeve length, I thought it was a longer wool dress that got put in the dryer on high by mistake. The collar reminds me of the rolled fabric pad you put on a newborn baby’s carrier to keep the head from flopping around, or maybe one of those sleep-sitting-up-in-an-airplane neckpiece. And she could use a sandwich or three. With Pringles.

You know it isn’t that bad if she re does her hair and changes her shoes. This 60′s inspired dress just needs some 60′s inspired accessories with a twist of modern.
Maybe no one but me goes to the county fair, where you can get a deep fried potato slinky…which is what the collar reminds me of. And communion wafers, and cotton pads. I did not understand the storms of ecstasy this idea created on Project Runway, and I don’t get it now. Of course, as a mom, I’m thinking about what a bitch those things are going to be to get clean.

I find that more disturbing than the crazy shadow behind her, or thinking of dresses made of snack foods (which for the record, totally a win in my books… just think, celebrities stuck at the never ending Oscar ceremony could eat the collars off their dresses, kind of like the candy necklaces of our youth. I don’t usually rag on people for wearing things that are too young, but in this case, the dress being too young makes her look old. On topic: I love this dress. I hate the shoes, but then I hate most of the shoes the kids these days are wearing, probably because I’m old and crotchety. But I’m with the others who’d like to see some retro-inspired accessories.
The collar is meant to draw attention to the dress, given how it looks. Too bad it’s so ugly. Maybe a lacy peasant-type collar would have worked better?
Collar aside, the dress needs a slim black belt or something else to bring it out. Because without the collar, it’s just a plain winter-white frock.

The trim kinda looks like a pristine white version of the vacuum cleaner filter I recently had to take out and rinse clean because it was so clogged. I bet the folds in that collar don’t have 2 months worth of dust and dog hair, though.
I would love to run a fingertip along it because it would probably make a really cool ruffly “ppftt” sound. God, get me some Pringles!
I totally get ‘mushroom’ from that dress. The collar looks like a mushroom’s gills. But that dress isn’t doing her any favors and this is the first time it occured to me that she’d need any.
I think it’s fun and retro, and beautifully showcases her lovely face. For those of you who think that there’s something wrong with her knees – they’re called muscles. She has musculature on her legs, unlike the starlets whom we are accustomed to see, which affects the shape and appearance of the kneecap. I, for one, think that she has fabulous legs, which she should show off as much as she wants. Also, I might need that bracelet.

I love the dress. It looks like an outfit FROM THE FUTURE as viewed in a 1960′s scifi movie, but there’s nothing wrong with that. LOVE IT!
Jealous? Of these knees, hardly! If you have deformed looking knees like that then you should wear a dress that covers them. Her legs are very bony and thin and the least attractive part of her anatomy. The dress reminds me of the styles from the 60′s. She is beautiful, but rarely does she put the whole package together. It’s either the shoes don’t match or the jewelry doesn’t fit in, or the dress just sucks. She needs to hire a stylist and start eating meat.
Frankly, I’m just glad she put her boobs away.
