Fug or Fab the Cover: Marge Simpson

fug-or-fab
Look, I’m not here to judge whether Marge is crazy to decide to follow in Heidi Pratt’s footsteps and pose for Playboy. (I do have to wonder whether or not she’s thought about the fact that her goodies are going to be oogled by everyone in Springfield, from Kent Brockman to Supernintendo Chalmers to Milhouse. I mean, the reaction from Ned Flanders alone is going to make inter-neighborly conversation mildly unbearable for at least a month, don’t you think? I can’t even conceive of poor Lisa’s reaction — horror, surely.) But suffice it to say, I find it bizarre that such a sensible, grounded celebrity as Marge Simpson –  who was once a member of the Citizens’ Committee on Moral Hygiene and bulldozed a house of ill-repute! — would decide to make this career move. Perhaps it was inspired by that time she worked at the erotic bakery? Is she having a mid-life crisis? Does she really need to get Homer’s attention (because if so, I hope the pictorial inside involves posing with a donut over each breast)? Clearly, we’ll never know. But what I do know is that there is NO WAY the fine people at Playboy didn’t have a better option for this cover: Marge is one hot number — especially for her freakishly indeterminate age — and she surely could be WORKING this beehive-and-chair look. Instead, I feel like she looks a bit cold and a little freaked out. I expect more hotness from a woman who’s been working the same strapless dress for twenty years, don’t you?

Lois Griffin is waaay more sizzlin’! Why Marge? Why now?

  2. Franky

Well, it’s not like springfield hasn’t already seen her goodies. when she got the implants, they all saw. it was in the newspaper! but i agree with you, misselizabeth. marge simpson isn’t quite the hot housewife lois is.

  3. Aaron

To make things odder, the cover is an homage (I guess?) to the cover of their first-ever black Playmate of the Year, Darine Stern.

The whole thing is confusing. Although to answer Misselizabeth’s question, they’re celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Simpsons.

As I recall, everyone in Springfield got a look at both Marge and Homer’s goods when they got caught skinny dipping in the pool. Plus the aforementioned gander everyone got when Marge was given huge implants. I don’t care what people say about the show being tired, it is still one of the rare thirty minute sit-coms that draws me in, and continues to make me laugh over and over.

I’m going to be snarky and point out that you wrote supernintendo in stead of superintendent unless you totally meant to and I’m sure that u did

  6. PATTY

Yeah, that’s a joke from the Simpsons.

  7. loveless

I love the way they changed her skin from yellow to ‘Band-aid” colored flesh tone. Pandering to the masses and not the fans!

  8. Anonymous

THAT’S what looks different about her. She’s not that yellow. Playboy is clearly full of rabid anti-comic-ites!

  9. Elizabet

Jeez, is no one safe from PhotoShop???

  10. Jenny

I feel like, if Levi Johnson can pose for Playgirl, so can Homer.

  11. yeahandalso

I know we’re not supposed to fight in the comments, but I gotta give a big hella NO! to people saying Lois Griffin is hotter than Marge. Plus we all know the hottest cartoon mom is Betty Rubble

Either way this entire thing creeps me out to no end.

  12. Hannah B

I also think Marge is hotter than Lois. A LOT hotter.

No one is hotter than Peggy Hill, though.

  13. ier

The thing that freaked me out more than anything was when I looked at this post, the Simpsons came on TV at exactly the same moment…Freaky :S
And Marge is way better than Lois! But Stewie for the win!

  14. Claire's mom

I think Lois is definitely kinkier – Marge has more of a “girl-next-door with blue hair” kind of quality. Hope she’s just doing this for kicks and not because she has to prove anything to herself or anyone else. Let’s call it her mid-life crisis and get back to wondering why these hot women wind up with fat-asses like Homer and Peter.

  15. Jackie

I find it deeply hilarious that Playboy chose to put a cartoon character on the cover at all, even if it IS the 20th anniversary of the Simpsons

  16. Katie

Wow, I wish they *had* blown out her hair. That would like so sexy on her.

  17. vandalfan

That Vogue cover above, with the ladies in red? Wouldn’t it be just smashing if it featured Marge, Betty Rubble, Peggy Hill, and Jane Jetson? Somebody teach me to Photoshop!

  18. Nikki

Actually, I believe FHM or Maxim (or one of those boy mags) featured a cover on Marge and she was looking WAY hotter. Her hair was down and she had a very sexy dress on … so Playboy was not the first one to jump on this idea.

  19. Kimberley

Personally, I’m just thankful that all parties involved with this shoot decided to feature Marge instead of Lisa, especially given the frightening possibility of Lisa posing in a disturbingly suggestive picture with Homer. As such, I can only commend Playboy for not exploiting a young star while also recognizing (for once) the timeless beauty of a mature woman.

  20. buzz_clik

    Marge is on coke: confirmed.

  21. Rev. LoveJoy

Lisa is 20 now. She could pose, legally…

  22. BrittanySaurusRex

The only problem I have with this, is that original Playboy cover was done with a black woman…. Marge is not black, and therefore can’t even place compared to the other woman.

  23. yeahyeahyeah

Now it’s official: you FugBloggers seriously don’t have any sense of humor.

  24. Anonymous

Oh no! Pretty, but – no! Just because she’s imaginary, a bunch of people who aren’t her get to decide what she’ll do. Hmph. She just would never do this.

  25. Cheekie

Betcha Moe Szyslak already bought all the copies out of the Kwik-E-Mart. Ya’ll know he has a thang for Marge.

  26. Debbie Thomas

No women are safe from exploitation.

  27. FunnyMonkey

I heard that a female wrestler from TNA was supposed to be on the cover, but Marge got put in at the last minute. The TNA girl is still in the magazine, I think, but no cover. TNA competes with WWE. WWE Divas pose regularly, and their issues are always a big success. I wouldn’t be surprised if Vince McMahon suggested that Playboy might want to rethink putting a non-WWE female wrestler on their cover.

  28. Nina

I hope she still works at that erotic bakery. :D I love Marge. She would definitely looks sexier with her hair down.

And Homer IS cute. I feel bad for Lois, though. I think Peter is a jackass.

  29. Nanfan

This is probably a take on the infamous Simpons Halloween Treehouse of Terror’s where things seem to go terribly and horrifyingly wrong in Springfield.
After all, Stephen King has a feature inside.

Nikki, it was Maxim… and yes, Marge looked WAAAY hotter there than here.

I never thought I’d say this, though, but I may just have to get this issue of Playboy. I mean, it’s got an interview with Benicio del Toro! It’s AAALL about the articles, you guys.

Also, I will join with the gang who are asserting that Marge is hotter than Lois. By a HUGE margin.
