Apart from her squashed girls I actually like this outfit. Yes, it’s cracked out and she looks like she just escaped a goth harem but the ensemble is also quite pretty and covers more or less all of her bits.
I wore something very similar to a Renaissance Faire in 1993.

It ALMOST looks like something from a Bollywood movie, which means I’m predisposed to like it. Except the execution is terrible, so I can’t. So much black lace(ish), UGH!
NO HEATHER NO! yes its a touch cracked out (i will never, NEVERRRR be a fan of long-but-see-through-skirts), but also pretty and quite event-appropriate. she also, to be fair, looks lovely in the face. and my god her boyfriend is hot.

I think this outfit is really cute.
Somehow, a genuine (looking) smile makes all the difference for me. If this was the smirking, bratty (looking) Miley of yester-year, I might hate this, but she just looks so happy and friendly, so I kind of love her and her hippy-goth-saloon-girl chic.

Credit where credit is due, the makeup is great and she is actually glowing, but the outfit just seems a bit Cher-Lite. Whenever I look at it all I can see is someone dressing up as Cher from the 1988 Oscars.

I agree. I LOVE when people disagree, but man, there is no event except a belly dancer convention to which this is “event appropriate,” especially not the premiere of a movie about a dystopian future in which children kill each other on TV for sport. I MEAN. This is so terrible.

I would never wear this for belly dancing. One backbend or arm wave, and that bustier is busted.
I had EXACTLY the same thought, the skirt maybe (but probably not) that top, no freaking way. If she did a chest lift it would explode.
And you have one little wardrobe malfunction, and all the other dancers make fun of you forever. Belly dancers are held together with glitter and safety pins, not tape!

I think she looks really cute in this, even though I’d be cracking Goth lingere jokes if most other women were wearing this. What’s selling it for me is her happy smile. If Miley was pulling a Lea Michelle and trying to look sexy while posing like her life depended on it, I’d feel very differently about this outfit. I wish the bustier covered about a couple inches more of her boobs up top, but she’s got the stomach to wear something cropped. And I like that she went for something more casual and less spotlight-stealing since it was her boyfriend’s big premiere.

Terrible. Her face is cute, love her big, real smile, but the outfit is ALL BAD. Hemsworth the Lesser (Chris is older and so much manlier) had to freak when she showed up in this. I want to support her, People. I really do. I always liked Hannah Montana. But this is not helping me get there.

Hey, at least she’s following the “legs or boobs but not both” rule…sure the skirt is a bit see-through, but not enough to make it Boobs Legsley material. The style is totally her…sometimes an outfit is fug, but if it falls into that person’s personality/style it works. I’d much rather see a slightly fug outfit that fits the girl’s personal style than a fug dress that is just thrown on for attention.

I love her in this! She’s working the ab-centric trend of this Spring (go Pucci!), and doing it well. She looks age appropriate—and her hair and makeup are awesome.

I wore exactly this to my first Tori Amos concert in the summer of 1992 at a very small theatre in Fort Lauderdale. I walked past some girl in the lobby who pointed at me and said, “Pretty! Flowy!” Seriously, it was right after Little Earthquakes came out and nobody knew who Tori Amos was and the theatre had less than 300 seats and when she sang “Silent All These Years”, it was magic…. Sorry, I got off track — anyway, Miley looks perfectly fine.
I believe I saw Gweneth Paltrow wear a dress very similar to this and no one put her down about it… She looks good to me. Also, I’m starting to like her as a person from the things I hear about her.
