Fuggan Lutz and Sharni Fugson

I defy you to take either of these people seriously.

Those are some fancy bull-fightin’ duds.

And the bull ripped off her shirt.

That must be what happened since no one would deliberately wear something so extremely unflattering to her chest and torso.

For some reason he’s got this weird Paul Kinsey from Mad Men vibe going. I keep expecting him to pull a pipe out from under his coat.

As for her… I have no thoughts.

“Oh I love to go swimmin’ with bow-legged women and swim between their legs.” That picture just gave me the sweetest flashback of my grandpa singing that song. Thank you for that.

I take them seriously. And you would too, if they robbed your stagecoach.

If I were her I’d want to take my eating disorder pretty seriously.

Same thing I thought. I can see every bone in her sternum. What kind of freaky dude wants to bonk a skeleton?

I don’t like to be confrontational, but these comments are totally unnecessary. I don’t know this woman–maybe she has an eating disorder, perhaps she’s naturally skinny; I couldn’t tell you–but you don’t know her either. All any of us know is that her outfit is hilariously hideous and unflattering. I’d invite you to think for a minute about how helpful and appropriate it is to comment on the undesirability of any woman’s body, and think about what you’d do if your perfectly daughter or sister naturally had a chest that looked like that (it happens, really) or if this woman were any other imperfect body type. Women of many different kinds of body types struggle with body image issues, and there’s no reason to be cruel to any of them.

I’m going to get off my high horse now and say that “if they’d robbed your stage coach” made my evening. Is that gold lame snakeskin?

Please refrain from that kind of unnecessary talk. Thanks!

I will take Kellan Lutz, whether he is serious or not, thank you very much! :D

He looks like such a tool in this pic, though – I doubt I would have given him a second look in a bar (if KL was a nobody, that is).

I don’t know who she is and am too unsettled by her fashion choice to intergoogle.

I can’t get past her outfit to even notice who she’s with :D :D

And what type of event does one wear this to?

He looks cheesy and she looks desperate.

It looks like he’s standing there with a cardboard cutout.

Something about the way he is standing next to her, and the way she is angled/posing makes her look like a cardboard cutout that he is just standing next to.

As a point of clarification, this is not a comment on her weight (I agree with AG, up to a point. I do think we as women should be more supportive of all women and their respective body types, but I think we also need to be very careful that we don’t glorify excessive thinness as being equated with beauty since that seems to be a common takeaway for many young women. How to balance those two needs can be a challenge). But, I digress.

That’s exactly what I thought! Why is Kellan Lutz next to a cardboard cutout of that girl from the last Step Up movie? Then I realized that he looks a bit like cardboard too, so maybe it’s just the lighting? And the makeup? And the pose?

Let us all tread carefully with her weight, please; we don’t know her life, but we DO know her wardrobe and IT IS BAD.

You could grate cheese on her sternum, so she needs to not emphasize the area like this. I could maybe live with the pants, tucked into proper boots with a solid T-shirt. But her hair screams Teen Beauty Queen and her figure is Orange Pole Dancer.

    Him, I got nothing.

what I can’t tell is if the black fabric of his suit has some sort of subtle patterning, or if he’s spilled something all over the jacket and pants. Or is it just the light reflecting off her pants?

and holy crap, are his pants tucked into his Star Trek cowboy boots?

    • Fat Desdemona

I’m pretty that’s the reflected glory of her pants. I might be able to get down with the pants if she was also, you know, wearing a shirt with them. Call me wacky!

I honestly have no idea who either of those people are. And I think that means I win.

    • Rosa

That is exactly what I was thinking. How can I take them seriously when I have no clue who either of them are. And based on how they dress themselves, I think I’d like to keep it that way.

Forget the bad clothes…I can’t get past his hair! Looks like a bad toupee for a SNL skit! Is that seriously real hair?

He always looks goofy. I loved Sharni back in the day i used to watch Home and Away, then her character got AIDS and left to travel the world or something. With her and Chris Hemsworth gone i had no reason to watch anymore. She has always been thin and as a dancer i’m guessing doesnt slack on the work out side of things.

She used to be on a soapie here in Australia (Home and Away) back when she was a teenager and she was always very thin. I honestly don’t think it’s much of a struggle for her to be that size but I DO know that she used to spend hours and hours sunbaking in the harsh Aussie sun, which surely is not going to be kind to her skin long term. BUT to the clothes – I actually think those pants, hemmed properly, with an actual top and well cut black blazer would look amazing on the right person – Zoe Saldana and Dianne Kruger come to mind.

    • Alex
      0

Well, she has at least one black grandparent, so the ‘tan’ is actually her natural skin colour and can’t be taken as a sign of having been out in the sun too much or not.

Even if she has been out in the Aussie sun for far too long, skin that is naturally that dark (i.e. genetically African) has a decreased risk of skin cancer compared to someone with naturally pale skin that can tan.

    • Andrea

      Oh gosh that is her!

I never watched the show but the bits I saw of her all I could think was she always looked so old and tired for her young age. She looks a bit sparklier here but the outfit is still horrendous.

They just look poorly photoshopped to me. Like, what happens if we take these faces, and these wigs, and these crazy costumes and stick them in front of this background?? GOLD!

The sad thing is, she is so pretty and her clothes are distracting from that. Nice genuine smile, very pretty hair that looks like her own (although I’m not fond of the middle part–a bit severe). She really could be adorable. And Kellan needs to go up a shirt size! There’s something a bit Swayze about him too.

Sorry, I still think she looks thin to the point of ill health and I see nothing wrong in saying so. It is not a comment on her desirability (whatever that might mean) it is a comment about the fact that *to me* her health appears to be compromised by her lack of body fat, at least as she appears in this photo.

someone like this may or may not have the typical symptoms of anorexia but simply existing at such a low weight would shrink her brain substantially. Being such a low weight whether it is natural or not would be clinical defined as anorexia due to her severe low weight and is just as unhealthy as being extremely obese. She is at risk of heart failure and osteoporosis among countless other medical problems

I think by posting women in this condition on your site you are actively overlooking the seriousness of eating disorders. Yes we can critique her outfit but that sweeps the fact that she is seriously unwell under the rug. Having being a reader of your blog for years, I respect your policy of refraining from commenting about stars’ weights however when it comes to something like this I believe you are just becoming complicit in the tolerance the fashion world has for eating disorders. This women is seriously ill and exhibiting her as a model of a ‘normal’ variation of the female body without comment is damaging for both women suffering from these diseases and the general population striving to look like these so called ‘models’.

Please think more carefully about your policy – sometimes being silent is just as bad as criticising.

We have LITERALLY no way of knowing if she has an eating disorder or not. That is an incredibly serious accusation to make about someone’s mental health, and I am not going to do it. We’d likewise never comment on someone who is seriously overweight. People’s weights are their business. Period. She may be trying to gain weight. She may be on a variety of medications. She may be this, she may be that. We have NO WAY OF KNOWING. Speculation is merely that, and we are not in the business of speculating about someone’s health.

We obviously are NOT and have NEVER been complicit in a “tolerance for eating disorders.”

If you’d like to discuss this further, you are welcome to email us.

      Thank you.
