Dammit, I went with Amanda Peet for worst, forgetting that I have been bitching all week about J. Biels prairie wedding dress. That’s what I get for going with the first name before reading the whole list.
I voted for Evan Rachel Wood as best dressed, because it was perfection.
I struggled with worst dressed purely because there weren’t any that were HOLY MOTHER OF GOD BAD- most were just unflattering, so I voted for Kelly Osbourne, because Christ on a bike it made me cry.
I picked the same people as you did… Evan was GLORIOUS & Kelly was TRAGIC! Cheers!

I voted for SWINTON for best, because she is just magnificent. She looks like a sculpture, like a piece of architecture. Emma Stone would have been my second choice. Also, not a fan of Angelina, but I have to admit she looked spectacular, working the shit out of that dress.
Lea Michele for worst, because I hate, hate, hate, hate that dress (cute ring, though). Emily Watson was my second choice, though, because she is so pretty but she just looks SO drab and frumpy in that dress.
totally agree that Tilda Swinton should get best dressed. If anybody else had the guts to wear that outfit like she did, they would totally be voted as best dressed. But just because she’s not conventionally beautiful, she was totally ignored…even by the fashion police. The way she wears that collar (cantona-style) is amazing!

This was a toughie! I gave best to SMG – I loved it. It was cool, it was interesting and it stood out.
Worst – Leah Michele. I don’t think I even need to go into detail as to why. (And Im totally ignoring that lady who showed up naked. If she cant take the event seriously, Im not taking her seriously.)
Wow! I forgot how many ugly and flattering dresses there was! And I’m not even talking about plain.

I voted for Evan Rachel Wood for best because that gown is magnificent and it suits her so very well. I think Erin Wasson is clearly the worst dressed, but it was totally intentionally bad to grab headlines and I don’t want to give her attention. Connie Britton’s sundress was pretty bad. Cameron Diaz’s complete lack of effort was also bad. However, Emily Watson’s whole look just depresses me. Seriously, I could be in the best mood ever and if someone showed me that picture, I would want to cry. So she gets my vote! Stop depressing me, Emily Watson!
I voted for Nicole Kidman for best because that dress was gorgeous and looked amazing on her. I voted for Erin Wasson for worst, but yeah, that was a total attention grab. Should have went with Cam or Kelly O. I really hope a lot of these gals can get some appropriate (and supportive) undergarments in time for the other awards.
I can’t believe I made Swinton, Evan Rachel Wood and that girl in the other amazing green dress runners up. It was a good year!?!
I wish I could vote for a top 5, to me there were a lot of women that chose outfits that were perfect for them. I liked Octavia Spencer, Evan Rachel Wood, Claire Danes, Diane Lane, Emma Stone and Nicole Kidman, though in the end I went with Swinton because I actually wanted to be her when I saw her outfit. Ab-fab!
Oh, loved SMG too! She looked so happy and vibrant in it!
Just a suggestion…maybe two lists next time? You could have one for the people actually at the awards–the gowns–and another for those who just showed up at the after parties? There were some pretty hideous outfits at the after parties, but it doesn’t seem write to vote them “Worst Dressed” when they didn’t go to the awards.

Stop the madness. Please consider whittling the best and worst lists down to candidates who could ever conceivably qualify for each. One zillion people in every category dilutes the results and makes it work (instead of FUN).
My vote for Wasson goes before I even review the slides. I know which harem inspired sheer black loincloth wearer to which you refer. I’ll have to jump around a bit to pick a favorite, as there were some pretty spectacular looks going on.
I almost went with Kidman for the best because there was something I loved about her look, but then there was SWINTON! Her look was working and I couldn’t picture it on many others.
Thank you for all your hard work, Fug Girls! And seriously, thank you for adding that picture of Idris Elba. He is yummy. Almost makes up for Wasson’s hosiery monstrosity.

Looking at all 95 slides, I just don’t think anyone pulled it together like Ms. Jolie. Perfection for me, from hair to make-up to dress to man candy!

There were some beautifully dressed women, but I have to give it to Angelina. She nailed it.
Worst is a toss up, but Kelly Osborne is absolutely the worst with that hair. Girl’s on Fashion Police, for heaven’s sake. What is La Rivers saying about this mess?
Where on earth is Amber Heard – she was looked stunning. I mean she always looks stunning, she makes me give up and cry, but her dress was amazing and looked perfect on her.
I thought Nicole Kidman looked fantastic, and glamorous. Amazingly that pale color made her glow (could have been the right makeup helped too), where just about everyone else in a pale color either was faded out, looked washed out, or looked like a corpse. Angelina looked great too, the best I’ve seen her look in a very long time, if ever. I think this was due to the splash of red, but without that red I would have found the dress busy yet lackluster. Kidman’s dress was bejeweled, befitting the occasion, so she wins.
Worst dress was a toss up between Amanda Peet’s flashback to her 70s prom (where was her powder-blue tuxed date?) and that horrid, unflattering, gunmetal mess that Madonna wore.
sadly, erin Wasson just… steamrollered me. Even though Cameron made me wince and Emily made me depressed.
Was a toss-up between Emma Stone, Evan Rachel Wood and Claire Danes for best, but Emma’s just inched out the others for having deeply awesome makeup. But god I covet ERW and Claire’s dresses.
Also, we need a separate list for the men. I couldn’t deliberate over whether I liked Idris or Chuck in their tuxes better.

I’m having such a hard time deciding between my top three best dress: Dianna Agron (I know not everyone would agree, but I love the detail), Emma Stone, and Evan Rachel Wood. Though I think I’m leaning towards Evan Rachel Wood, because DAMN that was magnificent! Also I may have a feather fetish. As for worst dressed, well Erin Wasson clearly takes the cake, if you can even call that dressed.
For me Evan Rachel Wood was easily the best, followed closely by SMG and Maleficent Jolie.
Worst was Elle. because I hate the desperation she reeks of and I don’t understand why she was there. All the actors present should have pelted her with rotten fruit for insulting their craft.

I LOVED Kelly Macdonald’s dress!!! Such a pretty color and it fits like a dream! And SHE is adorable!
I voted for Giada for worst based SOLELY on the fact that her boobs are ever present on her cooking shows, but at a venue actually suited to cleavage, she wears a prison jumpsuit.

I went with SWINTON over Angelina because we’re so used to seeing both of them in shapeless, cracked out stuff, but we (well, I suppose I could be the only one) forget that SWINTON is a tall, fantastic drink of water. She usually comes off as so fantastically androgynous and somewhat boxy (and weird) that when she does decide to girly it up it’s like the heavens have opened. ANGELS folks. ANGELS.
As opposed to lovely Angelina, who (whom?) we know is all that, and we just wait for her to whip it out. We are not staggered when she does.

That said: Okay, so this is going to make me sound like one of those stereotypical angry feminists who scream and shout at you if you dare say anything that goes against their worldview, but honestly – I thought the “HURR HURR SHE LOOKS LIKE A MAN” commentary was really uncalled for. Was it a horrible dress? I’m iffy on that – mostly because while it was horrible, I’m not sure whether it qualified as a dress. But really, while yeah, she is skinny (a bit too much for my taste) and flat-chested, and while weight in Hollywood IS a really hot-button issue…I thought our focus here was the clothes (and maybe the makeup), not the actual personal appearance of the celebrity.

First of all, we really have to absolve Andrea Riseborough, Emily Watson, and Romola – as Emma Thompson has proven repeatedly over the years, there is a very limited amount of good dress taste/sense distributed annually in the UK and Helen Mirren is given nearly all of it, leaving very little left to be shared around. There is NO excuse for Julia Ormond. She’s French.

I went with Emily Watson because she was actually at the ceremony and because she was, in fact, dressed. Neither of those apply, I believe, to Erin Wasson.
Yes, I am a very mature male. So, my look on this may be from a different viewpoint than
most of you ladies. Nicole Kidman best and Erin Wasson worst. The reason being that if
these two women walked into a room wearing those dresses, my eyes would probably be
following them for the rest of the evening. Only, Erin’s would be for the wrong reason!
Madonna, Kidman, and SWINTON were my bests. Diaz, Garai, and Wesson were my worsts.

Voted for Yvonne Strahovski as best, simply because the color/hair/makeup was all very together and bold. Yellow seemed popular and she was the best yellow.
Voted for Zooey as worst just because I cannot understand how anybody could possibly like that dress (although my 2nd choice would be Laura Dern’s dress – its like her and Zooey should do the SNL skit of the singins sisters or something, back to the early 80s.) Also, Zooey’s hair seemed very heavy looking
I thought Bernice Bejo was stunning. Beautiful color, interesting detail, perfectly fitted. First runner-up to Laura Dern, partly because I think she’s awesome and partly because I love a green sparkly thing.
As for worst, clearly Erin Wasson looked the worst, but she can’t be worst-dressed, because she isn’t, in strictest point of fact, dressed. So my vote goes to Meryl Streep, who always looks like she just wandered into a red-carpet event in something she yanked out of her mother’s closet. Come on, lady. Helen Mirren always looks great-why can’t you ever pull it together?
According to the Golden Globes coverage in a local magazine, Erin Wasson’s monstrosity was self-designed – they compared it to the rubber strips that hang down in car washes. Thin supermodels can make unflattering choices : a plunging neckline in a halterneck style with more coverage would have been fine. Come to that, she would have looked better if she’d turned up in a tank top and cut-offs, the “style icon’s” usual garb, from cursory acquaintance with her style.
My best was Sophia Vegarra but I don’t see her on the list
My worst dressed was Lea Michelle. She obviously and uncomfortably (for us) tries so damn hard and still she turns up wearing a formal figure skating costume from the 80s. Connie Britton was clearly so whatever about the whole thing, I can’t really bring myself to get too upset.
I’m ignoring Erin Wasson – maybe she showed up like that to get laid or noticed or whatever, but she didn’t take it seriously and is therefore disqualified.
SWINTON for best dressed – even if I’m not entirely sure if it is Emmy appropriate – this is NOT Cannes, but was still absolutely fantastic and injects a little Fashion with a capital F and strangeness into an event which can inspire safe and boring in others. (I’m looking at you Sophia Vergara. And Charlize. I am certain I have seen them wearing those dresses’ first cousins before).

I really felt first place was three way tie between Emma Stone, salma and Nicole. Alas, I finally settled on Emma and then accidentally clicked on Emma Roberts. Go figure.
I think it’s kind of awesome Shenae Grimes decided to rock her Vibram Five Fingers for the event. They probably weren’t visible most of the time,and they were still a step up from the usual non-footwear of Thomas Jane. They’re also probably quite practical for the event, as they are quite comfortable. I would wear mine all the time if I thought I could get away with it.
I was going for Cameron Diaz for worst dressed, even though there were a couple of other contenders, until I got to Erin Wasson, then even Jessica Biel couldn’t make me change my mind. Erin all the way
I just don’t get why anyone like Angelina Jolie’s whole look/makeup/dress. It was fug. All of it.
Agreed! When everyone kept saying they loved it I thought I was hallucinating! The color is hideous, the cut his hideous, her hair never looks good back, and that lipstick is just too much on her lips!
Best was difficult – I picked Claire Danes, because I thought it was incredibly striking, but Swinton came very close, as did Emma Stone, SMG, and Evan Rachel Wood. I also liked Zooey D.. Viola Davis, and Madonna (although I felt very sorry for her girls…I’d have gone with a cone bra and popped those suckers out the top).
Anyone in anything nude “colored” doesn’t win, even though Diane Lane is beautiful. Nicole & Lilo — what’s wrong with red hair? Everyone else – why do you guys want to look all washed out? Seriously. I can understand fading into the background at, say, boring meetings, the grocery store, or a family reunion once Uncle Jim Bob gets into the moonshine. But you are at an awards ceremony where you go to be NOTICED. /endrant
