I’m embarrassed at just how much I fawn over Harry, probably more than any other male “celeb”–he is just so DAMNED APPEALING. I would put myself on the list right after you, pretty!
1. I love that she is wearing some sort of pass with her picture on it in the last frame. AS IF EVERYONE DOESN’T KNOW WHO SHE IS/recognize the other people she’s with.
2. In all of the photos where she’s ‘flirting’ with Harry, Wills isn’t even paying attention. Come on, Wills! Your brother is sharing his spicy gingerness with your wife!

Thank you. I also find it a bit awkward. I am all for sense of humour but I am even more for healthy man-woman relationships – and I firmly believe they don’t happen more often because of our dirrrrrty minds. But hey, I get it is only a joke!!!
I don’t ACTUALLY think he loves her. Well, scratch that — I like believing he secretly loves her, because it’s soapy. But seriously, I’m just riffing on it. I don’t think there is ANYTHING untoward about their actual relationship — I actually love how cute the three of them are together. And I don’t EVER get the impression that Kate loves anyone but William. It’s just fun to imagine the soapy drama of poor Prince Harry — formerly such a bad boy (kinda) — falling in love with his brother’s wife but UNABLE to do anything about it because: DUTY and FILIAL LOVE. And everyone else is just waiting for him to grow out of it. It’s classic Judith Krantz, which is why it is fun. And I do think Harry’s body language to Kate is somewhat besotted. But whose isn’t? I am also besotted with her.
I think perhaps you are taking this too seriously.
If the pictures were taken out of context, and you knew nothing about these people, you would assume that Harry and Kate are together. HOWEVER, I completely recognize that they AREN’T flirting, which is why it’s in quotations. IT’S A JOKE. This is a site where this is actually encouraged!
Everyone has to wear a pass at the Olympics, even the athletes. You’ll notice that the swimmers are giving their passes almost immediately after getting out of the pool. My mom is there as a journalist (she was actually about 10 rows behind the Trio when these particular pics were taken), her passes were sent the last week of May. She was moving at the time and was terrified that FedEx wouldn’t find her. It’s a bitch to get those reissued. I love that Kate had to get the same passport-esque photo as everyone else.

So, she doesn’t have extensions, does she? I go back and forth on that, but I think I’ve finally come down on the side of “no extensions.”
If she does, they are very, VERY good extensions. It certainly looks real, and my stringy-stranded self is so jealous. She’s got, like, ten times the amount of hair I have.
I think she does have extensions, but I think they are VERY expensive and well-kept ones. I also think she has decent real hair. So the combo = MAGIC.
So the moral of this story is: she isn’t using the same hairdresser at Britney Spears?
I think they all look great in these shots. They’ve got that “casual yet sharp” look down perfectly. In addition to the “class in class” I wish Kate would teach, I’m hoping all three of them teach “casual yet sharp” too.

#5-Seriously, her hair. I know people get tired of her wearing it the same way all the time, but if mine looked like that, I would wear it down like that and play with it all the time.

Seriously, anyone ladies (or gentleman) out there accomplished in curling hair who can tell me how I get my hair to look like this???
It depends on what you’re starting with. This probably isn’t a huge departure from her natural hair, which is probably thick and wavy. If you have stick straight hair, it’s not going to be easy to get a sustained bounce like hers. If you do have some wave or curl, blowdrying with a round brush will get you body and ends like hers. Using a curling iron to curl sections, then comb with your fingers might work well for the rest of it.
My hair starts thick and wavy/curly, but no amount of styling will make it look like Kate’s. I am convinced it is done with sleakeazy potion, which was an engagement present from Hermione Granger.

In all seriousness: I saw a group of pictures from Kate’s university days and yes: she already had the fabulous, bouncy, shiny chestnut brown hair. Some people get all the luck!
Yes, let’s just be clear that thick + wavy/curly does not equal anything like Kate’s hair without much work, special genes, or fancy magic. I have a lifetime of pictures to prove it.
I was thinking of you guys today – there was a report on the radio that apparently a local man looks a lot like Prince Harry. He’s in London right now attending the Olympics and he keeps getting mistaken for Harry! I must seek him out when he returns. (BTW I live in Toronto so he doesn’t have a hot British accent, but I’ll take what I can get.) (Also what a bummer that it was a RADIO report so I couldn’t check it out for myself.)

I can only agree, Harry & Kate fanfic is the best. Did you see the photos where he doesn’t get to sit next to Kate, but some dude is sitting between them and he’s next to Eugenie (or Beatrice? I don’t know which is which) and looks MISERABLE? Bring on the stories!

I’m going to this maudlin place because I just saw “Bonnie & Clyde” (inspired by a Warren Beatty link you’d posted a while ago). It’s actually not that good a movie, but Faye Dunaway’s face was once a g-d miracle. Kate Moss though was next in line for that face, and it’s lasted a little longer than Dunaway’s. So “logically” someday someone else will have Middleton’s youth face, and perhaps her hair, legs, and tiny hips as well. It’s all good.
“Fact finding”. I can think of another word starting with f for that.

I am convinced she has a deal with the devil somehow to have SUCH great hair in every condition possible. Especially hair that stays so amazing through that somewhat constant London drizzle. My hair was a total disaster while I was there and I lived for the hood on my North Face rain jacket.

I am going to spend my entire life staring at you while you laugh at my brother. This is going to make an amazing mini-series in about fifty years.
This IS perfectly Judith Krantzy, and all the better because I don’t believe it at all. What I love about their relationships is that it’s so clear that Wills & Kate are crazy about each other, and that Harry and Wills are really really close – and it’s wonderful to see that everyone’s perfectly happy about all of that, instead of the crazy melodrama where the brother resents the woman for stealing away his best friend, or some such crap. These seem to be genuinely healthy, loving relationships, and as someone who grew up on the tabloid hellscape that the previous generation of Royals endured because of their unhealthy, unloving, deeply broken relationships, THIS IS FANTASTIC and completely unexpected. Especially given that Wills & Harry lost their mother in all that; seeing them so close, and both seeming genuinely happy, is kind of amazing.
Somewhere in that too-long comment I lost the point, which is that feeling so secure in the healthiness of these relationships allows me to snort with glee at these hilarious, soap-operatic posts. <3 these.

There are pictures of the Trio at yesterday’s cycling on the Daily Mail website. William and Kate are actually hugging in one of them which is, frankly, too cute for words. And yes, there are some fantastic shots of Harry too *watches as rate of traffic to DM website accelerates to speed of light*

Plus, it’s obvious that they like each other & enjoy being together, which is so freaking adorable, I just can’t! I love everything you write – always witty, incisive etc. but this one time, the whole Harry loves Kate thing – found it a tad distasteful. I can see I am in the minority here going by the comments! Thing is, maybe it’s my traditional upbringing where the brother-in-law and s-i-l relationship is akin to that between a brother and sister! I know how appealing and romantic is the idea of unrequited love, I’ll love you from a distance, for ever etc. etc. but in this case, when Harry and Kate are related and seem such good friends and Kate and Wills seem so much in love, it’s too awkward to hint a something between the friends.
