I mean, clearly, it’s a massive choice. The fate of the world rests on this, and on, like, Greg Kinnear’s ability to convince the President that aliens are going to make it rain a LOT in six hours if we don’t evacuate the major cities/give them all our Diet Coke/stop using nasal spray, or whatever disaster movie is next in the making.
We’re doing it a bit differently this time than we did for the others: Every person we featured on the site is eligible in EITHER category. To help you with your research, here is this lovely slideshow. We hope it helps with your research for this all-important task.

Sarah Jessica for the loss! That dress was ick and ill-fitting. I’m really commenting because there was no commenting on Elizabeth Banks’ original posts. I love the Fug Girls (I really do!) and don’t want to be a pill but the technical awards have always been endearingly called the nerd Oscars. I swear; Google it. And, she wears a wig on 30 Rock because when they filmed, she had dark hair for another role. I also think it’s because it’s so bad a wig that it’s funny.
the fug for me was easy– Charlize’s dress was BAD, and not in an almost or “but interesting…” kind of way.
Fab was hard, there were so many good ones. I ended up torn between Sandy and Cam, but went with Cam.
I love how many cool dresses the ladies wore– rather some a little crazy than all black and boring.
Also, wanted to give Susan Downey, Helen Mirren and Amy Adams a lot of props for looking very hot
I want to vote again! I totally forgot about SPJ’s dress and voted for Zoe’s for worst! I think my brain tried to remove all memories of that dress. HIDEOUS.

I hated to do it but had to choose Miley Cyrus for worst dressed. The top part of her dress was just awful. Such a shame, she’s such a pretty girl.
@Talley I think they both chose flattering dresses, but IMO Rachel McAdams’ dress is just so much prettier than Queen Latifah’s. Better color, fabric, and also, not wrinkled.

Surprised Rachel McAdams is getting so many votes. Love her, and her dress was as pretty as she is, but kind of a snooze compared to stunners like Sandra or Cameron. sarah loves her vintage couture but it was awful, like that yellow that fabric gets when it’s in a poorly ventilated basement. also, her bronzer made everything so much worse!!!! it was horrible, just terrible! i felt so bad for her.
the good news is that there were so many beautiful dresses: sandy! cameron! amanda! penelope! rachel! queen! lea! dame helen! yum.

Worst: the inexplicable Malin Ackerman dress. Runners up: Charlize (also inexplicable), Virginia Madsen (size?!), and Hilary Swank (looks like a phase Sylvester Stallone went through in the 80′s). SJP escapes due to extra bonus points for not displaying her faux boobs.

Am I the only one who actually liked Zoe Saldana’s gown? With increased viewings I appreciate the interesting artistry of it more and more. Maggie Gyllenhaal for the “fab” win! Especially considering that the fabness rose out of the ashes of thrift store reject piles that are most of her outfits (I say as someone similarly afflicted by goodwill-itis). I think that dress was just STUNNING!

I was bumbed about Charlize Theron’s outfit. The woman is BEAUTIFUL, the dress, outrageous!! Come to think of it, there were a lot of beautiful women wearing not-so-flattering dresses. Maybe I should go into the design industry–I’m sure I could come up with some better dresses than those! And Colin Firth–sigh. I saw him at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and he is even better looking in real life. I was on FindTheBest’s Celebrities App http://celebrities.findthebest.com/ and found a ton of cool celeb info and the best part, it tells you what plastic surgery each celeb has undergone!

There are just too many options to narrow this town to two choices… I know you gals are oscar’d out but heats would really provide much enjoyment (and more accurate results). I just choose the first best and worst I saw on the lists that I felt strongly about bc I simply could not read all those names!
Since you girls make a lot of slideshows for your other gigs, maybe next time (The Emmys I think?) you could put a few together for us. My brain and my computer both cannot really handle all of that information in order to synthesize a coherent decision. Maybe, if possible, you could just add a write-in candidate slot to your polls, so that those who liked Zoe S.’s dress can write her in.
That said, I finally think I figured out who I want to vote for… Thanks for always being the funny spot in my day, both here and on Twitter (y’alls’ running commentary during the Olympics was PRICELESS).

I wish we could vote our top 5 or 10! Fab and fug are nuanced categories that don’t translate to a 30+ person list.
For example, poor Eva Amurri has no votes for Best Dressed – which I understand, because I would not vote her “best” dressed compared to all others at the Oscars – and yet, that was maybe the best I’ve ever seen her dressed! She looked stunning in one of the most awesome dresses I have ever seen – how to do hot pink without going 80s/trashy/etc. Perfect for classy hot-pink-loving girls all over the world. Also perfect for the Oscar after-parties, but not the Oscars. Sigh.
My top Fab (alphabetically): Eva, Sandra Bullock, Cameron Diaz, Susan Downey, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Rachel McAdams, Katy Perry, Queen Latifah, Olivia Wilde.
Context matters – Eva, Cameron, Maggie, Katy, and Olivia are all getting points for stepping it up. Sandra wasn’t best dressed but was hard to dislike all the same. Susan – wow! non-celeb killed it! Both Rachel and Queen Latifah brought out dresses that would look that great ONLY ON THEM. It was awesome.
Just wanted to give a shout-out to a fine turn by a non-contender on the polls: I thought Michelle Pfeiffer rocked it this year (her onstage appearance for Jeff Bridges nomination tribute was one of the very few highlights of the evening for me).
SJP’s dress was an eyesore, and her ghastly makeup and frazzled hair/ferret mega-bun made the perfect trifecta.
Sandra Bullock looked heavenly. Sandy for the win!
I just want to commend the Fug Girls for settling any quibbling over how the polls are constructed by tossing us all the information and choices and saying “Here! YOU work it out.” On a website as potentially contentious as this one, that’s about all the option there is.

The Fab was not all that difficult, though few agree with Kate Bosworth FTW, but the Fugs are as difficult as picking your favorite child. Zoe’s dress is WTF, but her smile and hair are so nice! Heidi and Bullock are simply obscene, but I think all together, from head to toe, it’s SJP. Fugulous. And yet, so many on the air and here liked her look. I think she deserves an extra helping of Matthew Broderick for that.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Michelle Rodriguez’s red dress! I *gasped* when I saw it. I’ve never done that before.
My first thought was, “That’s exactly how I’d want to look if I ever walked the red carpet!!”
I think what made SJP the worst for me was that every single detail was bad. Her hair was awful (could almost accept the bow-tie do, but the frizzies? oh hell no). She used enough bronzer for three people (and should have shared some with her poor hubby). The raccoon-eye makeup is convincing no one that she didn’t have plastic surgery. And the weird mini-obelisk ring she was wearing made her look like she was walking around holding a cigarette. And the dress? I’m still trying to figure out how something can be gathered in back and completely straight-up-and-down sacklike in front. Boggles my mind. And not in a good way.
how is no one talking about Suzy Amis’ dress? Or skeleton? it’s like she’s sacred ground or something? Did I miss something? Anyway, I think Queen Latifah looked amazing, and Miley Cyrus looked like a tramp, as usual. I also would love a runoff 10 at a time!
I think Kristen Stewart should get an honorable mention for pulling it off. Yes, she needed accessories, but she far surpassed all expectations I had of her for Oscar night!

Amanda Seyfried looked absolutely stunning! The dress, makeup, hair, skin (WANT!) bling…everything was flawless. I’m really surprised she doesn’t have more votes!
Honestly, does SJP even LOOK at herself in a mirror before she leaves the house? Her hair looks like a backwards mullet, party/frizzy up front, sleek and business-as-usual in the back. And I won’t get started on her makeup.
I loved Zoe, she didn’t play it safe, it was fun and she’s practically the only person that could pull off that dress. I voted SJP for worst because she has possibly the most access to gorgeous clothes and she chose THAT (plus the hair was atrocious and I forgot about Charlize and the groping dress)
Had to go with M Cyrus for the worst dressed, since SJP was Worst Overall Appearance what with the Dracula hair, raccoon eyes and Oompa Loompa skin.
Gabourey Sidibe for Best since she just glowed, and she looked so great with so few frills.
We’d love to do a slideshow; we don’t have the technical ability to do that here on GFY. (All the slideshows we do write are for NY Mag, which is a whole different platform.) I would love that capability. Maybe between now and next years Oscars? Cross your fingers.
I probably would have voted for Diane Kruger or Zoe Saldana worst if they hadn’t both shown in the past that they like to take risks which sometimes turn out *amazing*. Like fugging them might prevent future awesomeness, because they read the internets and would somehow become dull and boring and wear black to everything.

Zoe Saldana, Demi Moore and Cameron Daiz looked amazing!! And I know several people didn’t like what SJP was wearing but I thought it was awesome!! Charlize looked good too!
Rachel McAdams hands down, people! Cameron Diaz was just standard glam. Rachel was innovative- “I’m wearing a print and rocking it”-glam.
I thought Rachel McAdams was wearing camoflage when I saw her on the red carpet. Demi Moore’s dress was absolutely beautiful and fit perfectly.
Demi Moore’s dress is so beautiful it made me cry. The more so because I have always hated her. Don’t trash the dress, shrink the fake boobs.
I toyed with SJP for the fugliest (it looks like she was in the coral, putting on the feedbag with others of her kind, when one of her companions kicked her in the ass.)
However, Salma Hayek got the win. It’s a fussy cocktail dress for a nuclear meltdown. And it’s a day dress, for the Oscars! With owls on it! Jesus.
SJP’s dress made me sad because the color was so wrrrrooooonnnnngggg. The shape was odd, but vintage cool – but the color (especially with the tan in a can) was unforgivable.
Kruger looked like a box of coconut candy, but there were some cute elements. Director creepo made the dress look even cuter.
I loved Susan Downey’s dress – very few people could pull the horizontal stripes off but she did beautifully.
Cameron Diaz is geting 10x the credit for looking good because she has rarely hit the red carpet looking this fabulous. Hair/dress/accessories all spot on.
I can’t believe I even care about this but here I go (again): Kate Winslet rocked her look. Her tailored silver sheath fit like a dream. It was a bit unexpected and thus all the more welcome. She didn’t look matronly, she looked hot AND glamorous in a totally unconventional way.

I’m clearly of the unpopular opinion that Maggie Gyllenhaal’s dress was a monstrosity. It’s ok, I know it, and she knows it really deep down.
I had a tough time deciding between Queen Latifah and Rachel McAdams, but since I’ve been a fan of Q’s for years and that McAdams girl already got the pleasure of dating my secret celebrity bf, Ryan Gosling, then she totally doesn’t deserve to win. She did look fabulous though, kinda hate her.
I HATED SJP’s dress and it takes a lot for me to hate anything coming from her. But, god, that was awful. But,for the fug, I voted Charlize. I can’t kick a girl when she’s down and the idea that she and Ferris are living a sham with two new babies is too sad.

Cameron Diaz never looked older, and perhaps for the first time, she looked really, really old-fashioned. The dress would be a perfect choice for a Park Avenue granny. And her hair looks like a messed-up version of Kate Winslet’s impeccable coif.
But, honestly, I’m hardly surprised by the reactions. Zoe and Charlize are criticized for not wearing dresses Barbie would wear to her prom, while those who decided to go the mediocre route are getting all the votes.
I hope that no one already suggested this, but I think it would be awesome if you took the top contenders for each category and let us vote between them to find the real winner/loser. It would be a nice way to get psyched for March Madness.

I can’t believe I missed voting. Damnit! I just couldn’t spend THAT long on GFY at work and kept forgetting to do it at home. Having said that I agree wholeheartedly with Cameron Diaz winning. She looked absolutely gorgeous. I would even have voted for her in the other dress.
But as for SJP for fuggest, I disagree. I adore this dress on her. I love columns in general. The one detraction on it was the brooch thing at the back beneath her bum. But I didn’t really mind that. Certainly not the worst dress. I was going to go for Will.I.Am. or Robert Downey. Hideous!! And Hilary Swank was pretty poor too.
