SAG Awards Fug Carpet: Julianne Moore

The one thing we need to focus on, you guys, is that Julianne Moore is 52. FIFTY-TWO YEARS OLD. She should just wear a shirt that says, “I AM 52 YEARS OLD.” That’s a Well Played every day.

    hmm sag awards indeed.

Why do they play right into our hands like that?

Oh yeah, 52 or 22, she took “SAG” Awards far too literally. The dress was so tight she couldn’t walk up to the podium without assistance and even then it was awkward. So beautiful, so many other bodice options.

I agree completely. Nice one about the SAG. Why? She’s so beautiful!

She could have done without the very plunging neckline. What if it just went straight across instead of the V? Much better. She looks great otherwise!

I don’t like it. At all. And I think something is wrong with the hem of the dress. You can see a loose thread there.

I’m going to say it: I have no problem with what some may consider a lack of support for the boobs (here, or on some other females). She’s fifty-two and the ladies are sitting in an enviable position. They look natural and sexy as hell. Yes, from the natural waist up, slightly more tailoring is called for, but this is in no way a fug for me.

I think her breasts look lovely and normal. Obviously, we don’t stand for making fun of people’s natural body parts around here. But the top of the dress is too droopy and actually too big looking — it makes her entire torso look weird. That mother doesn’t fit — it doesn’t have anything to do with what her boobs are like, the fault is that of the gown.

Exactly – her breasts are fine. The bodice is horribly ill-fitting. If it had hugged her body more right below her breasts, it wouldn’t create the impression that they’re droopy. Instead, they look like extra bra cups, but empty ones.

And as a 50 year old, I wish my body looked half as good as hers, especially considering how very natural hers appears.

A scroll-up fug if ever there was one.

The skirt was great but while she was on E (talking to horrible Gulianna) all I could see was the gaping and that seam that went straight down the middle. Ack!

Gorgeous face, beautiful hair but a dress that is wrong on so many levels, and not just from the waist up. At this point, I pretty much assume she’s going to be a disaster every time she’s on the red carpet – I still shudder at the thought of that yellow monstrosity she wore to the Emmys. And she has such amazing raw material to work with – does she just not own a mirror?

I agree. I didn’t like any part of the dress. Somehow the black flowers on the white dress seem too…(something…perhaps strident?). It calls attention to the bottom of the dress and not the person wearing the dress. All eyes are below the knees with this dress because those flowers are kind of bunchy at the bottom.

Her hair & face are lovely. She really is so pretty. And I think the dress would be fine – if it fit.

And that’s why they call ‘em the SAG awards.

The top of the dress was ill fitting, but otherwise I love it.

    She should never wear white.

I know what you mean (I’m a milky ghost, myself), but at least it’s better than the black she is usually festooned with.

She’s beautiful, but seldom or never looks her best in evening wear. Fit and taste aside, it just doesn’t suit her.

They forgot to hem the bottom by about an inch. Completely just ripped from the bolt.

52 ? Julianne, GIRL forget about that dress and give the number of your:

    a) plastic surgeon
    b) dermathologist
    c) pilates instructor
    d) all of the above

Somebody needs to apply the pencil test occasionally. Better than an overrated stylist.

    • Fiona

Ugh, go away with your ‘pencil test’. Honestly. We’re critiquing the dress, not her natural, and rather lovely, boobs.

      • Mel
        0

Pencil test or not, the dress does nothing to accentuate her “natural, and rather lovely, boobs.”

          0

No, some beautiful mammaries can “fail” the pencil test. They just need a different style of bodice.

So she is 52. So what? I am 53 and my body is better than that and I don’t feel old at all. The popular media sees people over 50 as old until, wait… they get there themselves, and then it’s “the new 40″.

As far as I am concerned any dress you can barely walk in is Fug.

I hated the bodice but she made up for it with her shiny, shiny hair. I just could not get over how beautiful her hair looked during her acceptance. But yeah, the “sag” was sad.

It’s such a shame… the skirt is gorgeous but the top is doing her no favors! It needs to be hoisted up, her girls need some support– ack! Given her age, the girls don’t look too bad, however, I kind of think women of a certain age should always have some sort of support.

  18. gin_in_teacups

She looks better at her age than I do now, in my 20s. But oddly it kind of gives me hope for a better future.

Anyway, burn that dress girl. Burn it.

I hate this dress, especially the extra fabric on the armpit sides where it gapes. I do not care how old she is, the fit is poor.

It makes me sad when awful clothes happen to gorgeous, talented, and likeable people. Comforts me to know that she probably doesn’t care what I think, though! :)

Hate the dress, but DANG she looks good.

Iʻm in the “thereʻs nothing wrong with the boobs, itʻs the dress” camp. I think we have been (mis)led by the media as to what constitutes a “saggy” breast.

  23. Joan

She is so beautiful but with every new event I see her at, I am more and more convinced that her stylist hates her.

    • mauxxo

There is a lot of that going around: Heidi Klum, Christina Hendricks, etc. I think the dress is awesome, but it was obviously made for a t-a-l-l runway model.

  24. Michelle

Just because it’s the SAG awards it didn’t mean that her 52 year old boobs should go without support. Blechhh.

  25. May

So close- but no. She’s a gorgeous looking woman and her hair and makeup are great, but the fit of the dress is really bad and I also don’t like the non-hemming. If it looked neater at the bottom and went straight across at the top or was a halter neck- I think it could have looked amazing.

My parents were watching this part of the awards with me. We thought she looked deflated (such as one might post-breastfeeding)–and we knew there was nothing wrong with her breasts. Beautiful face and hair, though, and she still got to take home an award, so I wouldn’t cry too hard for her.

This is really beautiful (love the application of the evening’s prevailing color, dark blue) but I wished she’d worn a demi-bra or some tape or something.

As with the unfortunate Sigourney Weaver, when you’re past 50, you really need some help with the boobs for certain dresses.

  28. Sajorina

I like the dress, it just needed to fit her better on top! She is so BEAUTIFUL it drives me nuts! She could be my mother and looks better than I ever will! *Sigh*

you can be 52 and have the boobies stand up somewhat…gives a new meaning to the SAG awards…

She needs to lose that long hair; it looks incongruous on her 52-year-old face and drags down her features. I’m not talking soccer mom hair, I mean a nice layered bob, shoulder-length if she wants. This long, long hair is not flattering on most older people.
