SAG Awards Fug or Fab: Jennifer Carpenter

This dress is pretty cool, I admit.

But I can’t help feeling like, while her body is headed to an awards show, her head and legs are on their way to a baby shower.

Am I right?

    I always feel that when a dress has this much detail, you should always wear your hair back, or it just looks a bit messy.

    We also need to start burning nude shoes.

    I think she looks fine, not exceptional, but no complaints. I normally hate “nude” shoes, but in this light they look like they might pass for gold and gold & burgundy are a natural pairing.

    I want to love the dress. I think I might have, for a second, before I scrutinized it for any weird images hidden in the pattern. Now I think it looks like she has a picture of the top of her yellow Labrador’s head screen-printed on her skirt. Can’t unsee it. Also can’t unsee that her facial expression looks as if she and the dog just shared the raw liver of an enemy.

    I agree with the up-do comments. She has such beautiful eyes. An updo would be a two-fer: better with this dress AND bring focus to her eyes. Also, I kind of want the dress to be longer — maybe a knee-length dress is fine for the SAG awards, but I think a GOWN would be better. I hate nude shoes, so I can’t be objective. Gold shoes would have been a nice (if obvious) option, though.

    I think she looks great and her hair is very pretty. Maybe could have used some color on her lips, but all in all, definately a win. Perhaps she steers away from updo’s not wanting to highlight her face, which I think is pretty, but which has been referred to here and elsewhere as a butterface.

    I actually don’t hate the casual hair, but something on her head needs to be a little polished. Some mascara and lippy would do it I think.

    I think her and Charlize Theron are probably the only people who can make this dress look good (read: tall, skinny peeps with a little bit of skin tone). You put this dress back on the hanger, and it probably would look like a Lady Gaga doily.

    I like the dress, even though she doesn’t have the curves to fill it! But, the styling isn’t good! Her hair, makeup & shoes don’t work with the dress, but at least the clutch & ring are great! She’s so pretty that this could’ve been fab, but it’s so disappointing!

    I liked her better with shorter hair. Just a few inches off the bottom or even chin length again. She’s got a pretty face for short. Not Michelle Williams short.

    A smile does help her too. Unfortunately she does have a stern look without a smile, but that’s why she plays cops so well!

    !. Folks, it’s beige, not nude. Think Crayola’s problem with the “flesh” crayon.
    2. If you think her face could be better enhanced with a different hairstyle, neckline, etc., say so and say how. It’s just cheap and insulting to use the term Butterface. Go post that at Fashion Police.
    3. This looks like a very nice apron.

    The dress needs to be floor length, with an updo and a red lip. Gold shoes would have been better.

    She looks very thin in the other photos I’ve seen. She needs to eat many, many sandwiches!
