Obviously we love a good fashion disaster, but if there is anything we love more, it might be this: redemption, specifically when somebody manages to leave an (in)famous mess behind and pull a complete clothing recovery. I mean, did you ever think Kate Hudson would live down this high-fashion rodeo look, much less grow up to win the red carpet at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner as convincingly as she did this year? Miracles can happen.

Who was this post actually sponsored by?
Kate Hudson was STUNNING at the WHCD. It may be one of my favorite looks on anyone EVER.
It was supposed to be wrapped — it ties to the ad that’s right above it.
No, wait. WAIT. What the f*ck is going on with Rose McGowan’s face? I am asking a serious question here.
Also, I loved that tangerine dress on Cameron Diaz. So bright and sorbet-y and cute.
everyone always asks this – she was in a terrible car crash and had to have facial reconstructive surgery. Poor Rose, she should wear a sign disclaiming that
God, poor girl. I wish her nothing but recovery and good health. I didn’t mean it unkindly (although I can see why my use of profanity would make a person think that) — I legitimately was shocked by that photo. Thanks for clearing it up.
no worries, if I didn’t already know, it would appear to me as a bad eye job. I also have a soft spot for her cause I know her sister.
I was hoping someone else would have asked this.
She’s 100% unrecognizable. What a shame.
May I please please please have Hilary Swank’s “after” dress? SO PRETTY!
me too! I MEGA covert!!!
That interview with Kate and Stella has to inspire some sort of Bravo buddy comedy, I feel like my life is empty without it.
The ‘before’ shots sure are more fun though. I guess the celebrities learn to not take risks after a while, sadly.
Can’t quite believe Stella got away with apologizing to only one celebrity.
Lulz. Agreed. That’s a whole lot apologizing to do.
Word!!!
not just the celebrities, but the general populace.
” But all that pink was a bridge tulle far”
This is the best! Please do more posts like this…I’d totally forgotten about Rose McGowan’s fringy ensemble, not to mention how ringlet-ified Kate Hudson used to be. So much fun.
“…a bridge tulle far…” I stand up and salute you, ladies.
(think Hee-Haw:) SAAAA-LUTE!
I have two comments:
1) I like Cameron’s “before” dress as much as I like the “after” one, so I don’t really see where the improvement lies! To me, she looks just as good now as she did 10 years ago!
2) I don’t agree with the inclusion of Britney in this slideshow… To me, she hasn’t improved at all! Remember the hot pink mini tight dress with the sternum/wonky boobs window she wore recently? http://cdn02.cdn.gofugyourself.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/spl397826_002.jpg EXACTLY!
For me, even that is LIGHT YEARS better than the “before” outfit, or the matching denim… it’s a comparative science with that one.
I actually had to go back and look at Celine Dion’s 2011 Oscars dress again. That really was an awesome dress. I couldn’t fit a thigh into it, of course, but it does take a diva to wear that dress.
Yes, please do more posts like this. I wonder if our collective opinions have changed any on what we have previously voted fug/fab.
Meanwhile, I don’t love the black dress, but Cammie’s 2002 Oscar outfit is still one of my all time favourites.
Nicole R. may have cleaned up but I much preferred her before body than the after. She had curves back then and didn’t look emaciated.
And, I like that pink tulle Hilary dress! Pretty! That flowered thing is boring and ordinary. I suspect ombre was more in at the time the tulle was worn, btw.
Hi! Have been reading the site since it began, but have never been moved to comment before. Just wanted to say that you guys managed the most interesting and least annoying “sponsored post” that I have seen… well, ever. I really appreciate that you kept it true to the spirit of the site and didn’t compromise on decent content, so thanks Fug Girls!
I also have been reading since the very beginning and rarely comment – only when I feel compelled/bored at work enough. Just wanted to say that if this is what “sponsored” posts will be like, keep ‘em coming because this was very entertaining and you girls deserve all the shoes your little hearts desire for making me laugh all these years.
It’s hard to miss that a number of those women have lost that pesky 10-15 needed to hit Hollywood size and Rachel Zoe’s client list. Or at least add buffed arms and pointy clavs. It shows pretty clearly that some aren’t “just naturally skinny, can eat anything”. I don’t think it is essential to their fashion recoveries, but they often go hand-in-hand. I’m not criticizing them as individuals; I find it kind of sad.
