The English Fugient

I was just watching Juliette Binoche the other night, in The English Patient, which was on Showtime and which I hadn’t seen since it first came out in like 1996.

EVERYONE in that movie is young and gorgeous. Colin Firth looks like a college student. Naveen Andrews looks like a high school student. Even in his crispy incarnation, Ralph Fiennes just looks sort of like a younger, fresher, better-profiled Voldemort. And no one — NO ONE – is wearing dropped crotch trousers. An unexpected blessing, that.
