True Fug

Those of you who follow us on Twitter (we’re @fuggirls — follow us for many many MANY thoughts about the Olympics, as well as ruminations on crappy television and information about, say, what we dreamed the night before. [I just dreamed that Michael Phelps and I had a super serious conversation about his relationship with his high school girlfriend, Janelle from Big Brother, which clearly means I should stop eating pigs in a blanket before bed.]) know that I have cut the cord on True Blood in a DVR-cleaning blood bath (no pun intended) that also took the lives of Bunheads and The Newsroom. It’s true: I am no longer hate-watching anything.  Janina Gavankar here is one of the reasons:

I mean, not her AS A PERSON — I am sure she is lovely — but my god, every time the show cut back to her story (or, frankly, any other of a number of other story lines, given that this season is all about pairing up characters I like [say, Russell Edgington and Steve Newlin] with people who are KILLING ME WITH THE DULL (this whole Lilith thing]), I just wanted to fast-forward. Kind of like she may want to fast-forward her life through the time she wore this caftan with those booties. It’s okay, girl. Tomorrow is another day.

As a daytime event, this would have been terrible. But it seems as though she’s attending some sort of beach/pool function, and merely using the caftan as a cover up. I think I spy a little black bikini under there.

It’s merely a pretty beach cover, because her black bikini is quite visible and her hair came from a windy sea shore. Maybe she slipped on random booties to make a dash over the hot sand to the restroom, and wandered onto a red carpet runway by mistake?

Is that what’s going on here?

I was going to suggest a Three’s Company Cocktail Party, and she was wearing a caftan in homage to Helen Roper.

I love the this as a swimsuit coverup. Although, I think I know what happened here (it happened to me once too), she clearly forgot her poolside flip flops on her bed when she left and had to wear her night time shoes. She had to wear booties, I had to wear 3 inch wedges.

I join you in being bored with large portions of the storylines on True Blood. I finally gave up and quit watching too.

If she did forget her flip flops, and it was a pool party, just go barefoot. It is a nice cover up for a pool party.

THIS is NOT a caftan! She is not golfing – you can barely even see her calves. Sir Fashion Himself – Ryan Lochte – clearly explained the origin of the caftan. Please revise…

Maybe she is also bored with her story line, or any and all story lines that involve NAKED ROUNDHOUSE KICKS IN A BARN, and not a naked Eric Northman. Girl, I am with you, but I am not displaying my sadness at this season’s storylines through terrible “window” dressing. Do like the rest of us and drink a lot of wine and watch this on repeat: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMTbkfgT_jc

Oh my god. You just made my life. Sometimes when I’m feeling down I’ll watch that exact same clip over and over again. Between Skarsgard looking all baby young with his pouty lips and the “Its like EX-SQUEEZE ME BUT HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF STYLING GEL? HAHAHAA” writing, oh my god, it’s not classy but it never fails to cheer me up.

Also, WTF is with the lack of naked Alex this season? I’m basically hanging on to TB for his fine ass and it is being sorely underused!

I will probably watch True Blood for as long as it’s on, but OMG are you right about too many storylines this season. Actually, this is an ongoing issue with the series, if you ask me. EDIT, people. Janina would be wise to edit as well — like different shoes, obvs.

I really like the caftan/beach cover up thingy, the colors look lovely on her. But the booties need to go. As for True Blood – the last 2 episodes have been…okay, right? I don’t even know anymore, but I can’t bring myself to stop watching. Sigh.

You are right, the past two eps have been pretty okay. Mostly because LaLa is back in sassy form and Sam/LunaSam was pretty hilarious.

I do think this is a beach cover-up upon second look. But those booties are too heavy for it.

I am in agreement on the toooo tooo many storylines issue with True Blood, but any show that gives me naked Alcide will somehow manage to stay on my “To Watch” list. Heh.

Agree about TrueBlood. I think you should give Bunheads another chance. While I hate the annoying lead character, I am kind of starting to love the cute little town and some of the ballerinas and most of all the fact that it reminds me of Gilmore Girls and that the director keeps popping in GG characters (aside from the obvious Emily Gilmore) – last week it was the guy who now plays Terry on True Blood, and this week it had one of Lorelai’s boyfriends – I forget his name. Still hate-watching, but slightly less hate by the week.

I think the reason I was able to let it go so easily is that I was never that attached to Gilmore Girls. Don’t get me wrong: I liked it A LOT and I watched the whole thing, but the things I like about it aren’t the things that have translated to Bunheads, you know? (Other than Kelly Bishop.) I was invested in the personal and romantic relationships but not the quirky town stuff (I didn’t MIND that, but it wasn’t my jam), and I feel like Bunheads is ALL quirky town stuff. And, shallowly, it makes me nuts that it has NO dudes on it. Where is the Cute Dean of Bunheads, I ask you?

That is a very valid point! There is potential with the millionaire man, but he hasn’t made a reappearance and her latest love interest (from GG) is not hot.

I loved “Gilmore Girls”, I watched every episode and still miss it; but I couldn’t find the love for “Bunheads”, so I stopped watching after the 2nd episode and I don’t miss it at all!

Put me in the “too many TB story lines” group. I won’t give up on it though. Any chance of 95% of those guys being naked keeps me watching every week :D

And the shooties MUST go away. Now.

Well this weeks True Blood managed to bring several of the storylines together and ended a few…so I think the end of this season should be pretty good! Especially since I’ll be naked in the last two episodes hehehe

And bonus for the fact that this week Steve and Russel took Janina/Luna’s daughter to keep as a pet

THAT development (Russell taking Emma) was the most exciting of the season so far, IMO. And, yes – so happy that these storylines are finally converging.

Oh, NO! Her sunglasses are on her head… Who does she think she is, Robert Verdi? She’s wearing a caftan over a swimsuit with a huge necklace medallion & ill-fitting booties… FUG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love the golden-orange sunshine shades combined with the blue in this. She should employ this color scheme again.
