Just the other day, I was standing on the corner near the Beverly Center, waiting to cross the street. And I was looking at all the people in their cars, and I noticed a baby blue Bentley convertible and I thought, “that looks like Paris Hilton’s car” — please, someone beat me senseless with a sock full of quarters because I actually knew that — and INDEED, who was driving said car but Ms Hilton, talking on her phone and, of course, heading Kitson-ward? It gives me pleasure to inform you that I appeared to be the only person who recognized her. Apparently, however, she has not been erased from our collective consciousness entirely, because someone took a picture of her:
This is one of those things where I feel like if I were to strip away all the bells and whistles, the dress itself might be rather cute. It also might be on of those things where if someone I liked was wearing it — like, say, I don’t know, Kirsten Dunst (where you at, Kiki, by the way?) — I might see my way to thinking it wasn’t overly decked out. I’m generally not a fan of animal prints, but this could work if the headband and sunglasses were thrown back into the bowels of the `70s from whence they came, and it were not on Paris Hilton, who, by her very, extremely foul nature, instantly renders everything to which she bears any proximity entirely tacky and tasteless and in deep need of an acid bath.

To me this suggests fashion insecurity (as well as lack of imagination): a slavish attention to color matching to the point where one’s outfits always have a theme does not suggest confidence in one’s ability to put things together.

The unrelenting cruelty of the camera accentuates a glaring flaw: the fake tan. Look at the difference between her fingers an her forearms. Fuuuuug…leeeee. And it looks really blotchy on her throat.
The think I like most: the dark tights and matching shoes. Paris has enormous feet and this look makes the legs look long and de-accentuates the ol’ clod-hoppers.
Ditch the tacky tiara and bug shades, and she actually looks kind of cute. I don’t even mind the tights, which is probably a first for me.

The bag is perhaps a bit heavy, but then it’s just my taste. Drop the headband and it’s something I’d wear myself…the shoes are very classy too. Who chose them for her?

In the 80′s (I’m kinda oldish), I used to take whatever pair of fold-over socks I thought would work, and hold them to the floral print shirt I planned to wear to determine if the colors were an exact match. Even if the color on the print was a tiny smudge of peach, if it matched my socks perfectly, I would chose to wear them… with my keds and pleated jeans. I kinda feel like Paris uses this same method to get dressed….

Yup, no headband, and destroy the extensions – destroy her whole closet full of extensions. Gently wash and condition her real hair, and let her hair and scalp recover, then do nice highlights and lowlights, then just keep it healthy and pretty.

Ok, top to bottom – no headband, cut the hair, smaller sunglasses, a funkier handbag which doesn’t look like it’s got special zippered compartments for her passport and matching checkbook cover.
I’m not thrilled with the persian rug pattern around the hem of the dress, but maybe it’ll be all right once she trades the dark stockings for bare legs and the black whatevers on her feet for some kind of heavy strappy sandal.

I think if we ditch the tights and get the boots, and maybe ditch the sunglasses, it would work. It would definitely have a retro feel to it with that headband, but I kind of like how it echoes the pattern of the neckline…it works in a weird way.

I’m going to try and separate my opinion of our subject from my opinion of her outfit. It won’t be easy.
First of all, Hollywood, there is nothing wrong with real hair. I would advise this girl, whomever she is, to remove her extensions and rock her regular hair length, whatever it might be.
Secondly, the headband is stupid.
The dress and tights are cute. The shoes are invisible. The bag is fine.

I have not read your delightful comments, commenters, and I am sure many have already said this, but … god this girl is so played out. The headband is beyond played out. Cringe-worthy as it made its re-entry into the popular sartorial vernacular. Worse now that grade schoolers are running around in them feeling very cool. Headbands and Paris have so jumped the shark … so much so that she makes me feel sad when I see her, in an “I’m embarrassed for you” kind of way.
With that: Hate her hair extensions. Hate, of course, the headband. Hate the whole moccasin brown theme here (although I love brown suede and love brown moccasins, but the ironic hipsters of the world have taken that precious 70′s memory from me and barfed Jager bombs all over it). I’m hating on the horizontal print on the hem. It is distracting and it doesn’t work and we don’t need it on bottom the way we need it up top to define the bodice. Reduce that hem down to the white diamond print.

As much as it pains me to be kind to Paris Hilton, this isn’t totally bad. She just overaccessorized. With a print that bold, everything else should be as simple as her brown tights and shoes. Lose the headband (Actually, she should look in the mirror and say that on every last minute check before leaving the house.), trade the huge sunglasses for something that doesn’t hide 3/4 of her face, get a simpler bag, and she’d look as normal as Paris Hilton can look.
It also would not hurt to just say no to hair extensions.
While the dress doesn’t thrill me, it’s okay, as are the tights and shoes. The problems are all from the neck up: toss the headband, ditch the Jackie O shades, and warm up the hair color and Paris is good to go.

I agree the dress is cute. It has a nice shape and is neither plunging nor threatening to reveal the shape of her bikini wax. However, the dark tights weigh the whole look down while also making it look kind-of, I don’t know, middle school? I’d go with a knee-high boot. The purse and sunglasses could stand to be much smaller and the headband could stand to just disappear. The poor things needs to chop those limp locks and maybe go with a warmer color all together. I think I’d also give her a chunky gold bangle in place of whatever bracelet she has chosen just to put a solid color someone and add some shimmer. Howsomeever someone as filthy rich as Paris can certainly afford a decent hair dresser. Her hair looks dried and fried, the ends look dead.
I have an excuse for that sort of hair: my bank account is in free fall, I am post menopausal and lack estrogen shine in my hair and the water in my apartment is lousy. Yet my hair doesn’t look that fried. Girlfriend needs to get her hair rescued!

I don’t think the bag is that ugly, it’s kind of cute, it just doesn’t match the dress! The headband is stupid. She could have done without the tights and correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure it’s a crime to wear peeptoes with any kind of hose (although I will admit to having done it before myself! Shhhhh!!). And I think most people can do without the grasshopper sunnies. So, to sum up, if she wore that dress with a cute pair of black pumps and a black clutch or tote she would have looked much nicer. There’s just way too much going on there.

Anyway, keep everything (burn the headband several times and then bury it with the Lost City of Atlantis) and fix the lining of the dress.
The cut is fine, but the border of the neckline, sleeves and hem should be a solid brown and white, thickly-striped pattern to go with the leopard print.
As for her styling, sometimes I’m totally for Paris and other times, I want to shove her face between a toilet seat and the bowl until she admits her fashion faux-pau!

I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)
