This is half of a cute dress, and half of what the witches wear in Macbeth On Ice. At least this is not leggings. Still, I’m sick of giving her passes just for not doing the worst she could do.”

Lose the hankerchief hemline and the elbow-poufs – perhaps extend the lace to a 3.4 sleeve?
Lose the easy-access front zip feature.
I think her hair and makeup look kindof fab, and I love the shoes with this.
What bothers me most isn’t the dress (though, it does still bother), but the fact that she wore a short dress when there is a honkin’ bruise right below her right knee.
Now, it’s true that I fall down more than the average person, but it’s also true that with this comes the knowledge that you don’t go bare-legged the day after you misjudged the width of your coffee table and smacked into the corner with your shin.
Or, maybe her new role really IS witch #3 in the MacBeth on Ice show and she didn’t quite land that triple axle in last night’s performance.
This looks like she pulled it out of one of those clear vinyl envelopes that Halloween costumes come in. If she were wearing a witches hat, I would assume that they came as a set… that is never a good thing.

Ditch the dress entirely and replace it with a pencil dress (maybe the Black Halo Jackie O even though it is kind of played out but still cute?) Keep the shoes, tone down the lipstick and GO BACK TO RED HAIR for petessake.
How far the mighty have fallen. Remember when LiLo was the cute, hot redhead from “Mean Girls”? She looked like a real movie star back then. Now she looks so….ordinary. From the bruise that should have been covered up, to the cheap-looking, zipper-front weird dress on up to the bad dye job and make up. She looks like most young starlets would sort of look when they first come to Hollywood and they’re trying to get attention at some event but they don’t have the help of a good stylist, hairdresser or make up artist.
Shoot me, but… I enjoy her usual look, leggings and all!
That said, without the zipper, this might work, but it still wouldn’t be great for her. Maybe for someone 15 years older.

At first I looked at this and thought “this is okay. I may even sort of like it”. Then I started feeling less happy about it. The shiny zip has to go, and I think I’d also remove the lace part and make it a halterneck.

Sorry but…can’t get past the fact that we’re desperately trying to find something (visually, morally, or spiritually) redeemable about this sad and desperate ex-interesting starlet.
The hair is awful (black is like the opposite of your blonde, LL-just all wrong), she has visible bruises on her legs and I’m not confident that she’s shaved…and the Little Bo Peep sleeves on her “I’m a Dominatrix–seriously!” shiny zippered skating costume (I know you used that but loved it and are therefore borrowing it)remind me of a peignoir set my Mom got for Christmas in 1973. It didn’t work for her either.

If you look closely at her bruised leg (and really, you shouldn’t), it sort of looks like she’s also scraped her knee. Clearly this happened when she fell out of the cab on her way to or from the bar.

This is a “sexy vampire” halloween costume from Target. And the shoes are hooker-y, and likely from a store in the mall called ‘intrigue’ or ‘shooze.’ Poor form, LLo. You’re better than this. And by better, i mean worse. Muuuuch worse.

As it is, it’s tacky and overdone, the shoes are tacky and overdone, the hair colour doesn’t suit her, the lipstick doesn’t suit her, and she just generally looks like a goth kid all dressed up for a Friday night dance at the arena who went out back to drink tequila and smoke with the other bad kids and fell down in the parking lot on her way back in. Sad.
However (since there are no comments enabled on that post) I wanted to say that I LOVE Carey Mulligan’s new do in the spirit in which it was undertaken – to wit, she’s 25, and you can do anything with a pixie cut because it all grows out in three weeks anyway. If she does a paler lip and at least puts her hair half up (if not all the way)and if the top half of the dress was made plain black (strapless or off the shoulder short sleeves) then this is salvageable. I’m just happy to see her in non-streetwear, to be honest.
This is a simple fix, change the red shoes for black, same style and give her lipstick that is paler than that lip smacking red!!!! The issue isn’t the zipper (which is the new trend!!) but the colour added that makes it look bad!

Amen to the angel! Wash her face, lighten up her hair, scrap the lace and the sleeves and make it a halter top. That way, the zipper and hemline would work together. But thank goodness her ha-ha and ta-tas are covered, at least. I adore this sweet little gal and wish her the best. Her parents tore away and sold her childhood and We The Public chewed her up and spat her out, like we did with Michael Jackson. I hope she can overcome the damage done.

I’m gonna go contrarian here, and say that Lilo could pull this dress off if she lost the zipper, and picked a lighter colored, happy, spring fabric , possibly losing the lace in the process. I kinda like the sleeves and hemline together for a young starlet look, just not in cheap black, with a hooker-zipper.

It makes me laugh that most of the comments on potential improvements to the dress basically render it an entirely different garment than it is here. Like ‘change the fabric, change the sleeves, change the hemline, change the zipper’.. you may as well just say ‘a completely different dress would be an improvement’.
I believe the dress is actually from her own collection. I cannot cite a source for this but I am almost certain of it.
Ways of improving this look? Remove lindsay lohan from the frame and place any other celebrity in her cute (though very flamenco-y, cheesy, prom-nighty) shoes.
