I feel like the first thing Pink must have thought when she saw Miley Cyrus’s hair was, “Really? REALLY?!? Okay, FINE, but if anyone walks up to me and tells me they loved me in The Last Song I am going to PUNCH THEM.”
The thing is, though, Pink somehow carries it off with an authority that Miley hasn’t mustered yet. Maybe that comes from the fact that Pink writes some of the best shout-it-in-your-car anthems ever, and Miley just shouted an anthem about how she shouts OTHER people’s good anthems in the car. It’s a step removed and a step behind, you know?
And yet, Pink’s dress, while empirically unoffensive, bores me a wee. Is that terrible? I love gunmetal, and it’s sparkly, and the longer I look at it the less I am bothered by it, but: Pink is so much more interesting than this, right? It doesn’t have the personality that its wearer does. Maybe she figures if she’s brimming with it, then her outfit shouldn’t, so as not to start some kind of nuclear charisma reaction. But I kind of want to see some fashion drama from a woman who can then turn around and do this:
The woman can SING while in this position. Live. (I can’t rememeber if she did it last night, but she’s done it before, while wearing less. Seriously, suck it, lip-synchers.) If you are capable of belting it out from the rafters while hanging from a rope in various complicated configurations, then I can’t help it if I find her gunmetal sheath a little bit Zzzzz. She set the coolness bar kind of high. And then HUNG FROM IT.

LOL! As if anyone would ever walk up to ANYONE and say “I loved you in The Last Song!” Stop being so silly!
OMG you just made me snort out loud in public.
The bodice and sleeves of that dress remind me of gymnastics leotards, but not really in a bad way. Also, the pattern makes it looks like she has crazy ab muscles.
I assume that if she can sing on a trapeze, she DOES have crazy ab muscles. Are you sure that’s just the pattern?
Yes, yes she does. http://www.sodahead.com/fun/pink-the-singer-do-u-like-her/question-2684947/?link=ibaf&q=&imgurl=http://images.triplem.com.au/2010/02/11/344698/Pink-v8-supercar-non.jpg
I can’t believe that dress is a Stella McCartney. It’s not hideous and wackadoodle. Its is rather a snore but I think that’s only because the wearer is so amazing. On anyone else it would be a well done.
Pink is my girl crush. Love her personality.
Love her personality, love her style, love her songs. You are right about them being shout-in-your-car anthems. “So What” and “Raise Your Voice” are both in my driving playlist (along with “F***** Perfect”, sometimes) and I frequently shout them in my car.
So yes, she could wear anything and I’m love it. While this dress isn’t setting my world on fire, I do love the gunmetal color, and her personality is certainly setting it off.
The pattern is doing weird things to her chest. It’s making them look lumpy.
Pink has a super athletic body, and I think a dress like this is kind of wrong for it somehow. I don’t like it. I mean, I like her, and I like the dress, but just not together.
Yes! It’s a super athletic looking dress. Combining the two makes it look like a gymnast’s leotard. I think it would look great on someone very waif like. And someone like Pink needs something a little more softer, or at least architectural. Her body could carry a look that is much more wackadoodle than this. As is, she just looks like she’s the formal version of the Fab Five (or whatever they are called)
*softer, not more softer. Grr pregnancy brain.
Love her and how she’s so true to her “rock” self, all the while managing to keep her lovely face out of mug shots. This dress does nothing for her… it’s just “meh”
Pink kicks Miley’s ass.
Word. Awkward moment with the same hairstyles! But Miley looks like the hair is totally wearing HER.
It’s the neckline and the sleeves combo. If it had a V neck or more of a scoop, it might work. That tee neckline just doesn’t look good on her. Plus the sleeves just don’t work. I don’t know how I’d fix them, but they don’t work.
I think it needs a more interesting hemline for a gal like Pink. Shorter, asymmetrical, something.
I agree, I think she might simply be too cool for this dress. But I don’t think it would take much to change that. I’m with Mare on this, shorten it, make it asymmetrical, maybe both (ooo! yes! both!), and it’d be instantly more Pink-worthy.
Her live performances are STELLAR. I actually DVRed last night’s awards just because she was going to perform at some point. Haven’t seen it yet and can’t wait!
Schoolin’ Miley. I wish her shoes were more colorful, that’s all.
Oh yeah- and her birthday is TOMORROW, September 8th. (and so is mine!)
Happy Birthday!
I’m a dissenting voice — I think Pink looks amazing here. I like that she’s confident enough in her Pink-ness that she doesn’t have to depend on an outfit to make the point; she can wear a floor-length gown and still radiate mature and badass and fit and beautiful and powerful and pulled-together … and really, not many people can pull off all those qualities in one look. Plus she is wearing the dress, not the other way around. And this woman had a baby a year ago, seemed to take her time in a healthy way to get back in shape, and she looks and sounds fabulous. I think this is a two-thumbs up.
I think it’s fine, nice that she hasn’t got her junk on show (Amber Rose honey, take note) and it clings in the right places. Plus how healthy does she look, and happy too?

I love both outfits! Girl’s body is just so toned and bangin’! But, I liked her hair more when it was black and longer! But this, like her music, is FABULOUS! LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve always thought Pink needs to avoid that guy-in-drag look.
