I’ve talked before about how I don’t like giving people a pass for stuff just because of who they are — even SWINTON, really. She’s awesome to behold, and all, but if she looks insane I’m not pulling the punch. Ditto Gwen Stefani. However, there are definitely times when Gwen and her ilk can pull off something few others could, and she wore one such outfit to the Coldplay concert this weekend:
I mean, I would look ridiculous in that outfit. People would be all, “Are you in costume as one of the T-Mobile girl’s bike mechanics?” And yet on Gwen it looks natural and casual and cool. Even with the clashy red lipstick. Well done, madam. I don’t love your belt, but your moxie is appreciated.

The jacket is really cute and if my a** hadn’t spread like the village chestnut tree I’d be all over those pants, but I don’t know if I’d go as far as “Well Played”. Her face is lovely, but it looks like a case of the whole being less than the sum of it’s parts.
That’s why I went with the Well Coldplayed pun. She looks fine for a concert, and there wasn’t much else out there, so I went with it.
I hesitantly agree. I kind of want to hate it, but in the end I think it looks really good on her. The pink leather jacket is great…I want it.

Slight correction: Gwen could be Lilo’s mother IF Gwen had had a baby in junior high school (which happens, a girl in my 8th grade class had a baby, but not to Gwen). But your point is well taken nevertheless.
glad that i’m not misunderstood. i, mean, i know that gwen is not THAT older than lilo, but she is almost 15 years older than her and looks so much better and healthier
I think it’s cute, all except for the teeny tiny ill-fitting belt and the clunky boots. How about some ballet flats instead?

I think she looks great! (except for the belt). I know red lips are her thing, but I do wish she would change it up now and again. On the L’Oreal commercials, I think she looks great with a smoky eye and a pinky-neutral lip.

Gwen, of course, has some great style and I don’t even want to talk about the fact that she’s 42 freaking years old and still has that body and that skin. I will say, though, that I’m really tired of the platinum blonde / thick makeup thing. I kind of wish she’d ease up on that.

I think that outfit is something lots of people could pull off. Maybe not lots of people in her age bracket but lets be honest we would all love this if Lohan, Hudgens, Barton or Szor wore it.
She’s 42?! Man, she does look great. And this ensemble looks pretty cool to me (the belt notwithstanding), she is really cute sometimes. I agree with the person who said that the platinum & red lipstick combo is areally over; but imagine if she changed? No one would recognize her. It’s difficult to dock Gwen points for this kind of stuff. She really does pull it off. She’s kind of like Heidi Klum in that way except Heidi pulls off skimpiness better and Gwen pulls off patterns.
I completely dig what she’s wearing – its quirky, and it shouldn’t work, but it DOES! I just wish I had the chutzpah to pull off a pink leather jacket.

Besides the belt, I would wear this entire outfit. Repeatedly. I would also like it noted that I am mostly insane (in a good way, not a Christian-Bale-in-American-Psycho way).
Cute outfit for a concert – the jacket is great. The belt looks like she forgot to buckle it after she went to the bathroom. But we all have our issues.

Love love this outfit – for a Coldplay concert. (I also appreciate that she’s out enjoying a Coldplay concert). It’s well put together and a good choice for Gwen. I’m curious about whatever’s in her hand – if it’s an article of clothing it looks like something I might not appreciate so much.
