This might be the best she’s ever looked. Yes, illusion netting and all.

I never noticed how lovely her face is

I am in that parallel universe of hate, and I wish y’all would visit. We have Diet Coke, sandwiches and chocolate. Once I saw the bare flesh/illusion netting /nude fabric is visible ALL OVER–there are open patches all over the dress–I couldn’t do it.
    I’m sorry. I can’t. Don’t hate me.

I am with you. That illusion netting is kiling me. I think it might be ok if she filled in the silver starfish/globules down her front and just left the back free of it. Illusion netting fools no one. And this version in particular looks like it’s knit from granny’s compression stockings.

I think the illusion netting is ok because it’s not all I’M WEARING ILLUSION NETTING like so many other dresses we’ve seen.

I agree; I think the illusion netting works because it’s so fine and sheer that you can hardly see it. And it doesn’t contrast with her skin tone, making it look to figure-skater-costumey.
    She looks great.

I third or fourth the “Illusion Netting Works because you can barely see it” motion. This is how you do it. Now write that down.

    She looks great.

yes, include me in that “illusion netting works list..you can barely see it which makes the outfit look fantastic..i like to think that they actually did a fitting and found a color that nearly matches her skin..also she’s so pretty and i’m so glad she’s over that “they think i broke up ryan and reese, therefore i must dress like i’m going to a funeral and cover everything up” phase

Abbie is serving face and dress. But, girl, her handbag is très DSW.

there’s a little TOO much décolleté for my taste, but otherwise, it’s a beautiful dress, and she looks beautiful in it.

    • Kat

Kit, I feel like it’s a tasteful amount of boob, especially since it’s not all hiked up to her chin.

PS: Since you’re Kit and I’m Kat, I kind of like it that we disagree.

        lol

Although, I agree, the exposed boob is quite tasteful; still, I want it to end at the centre of her sternum, not her ribcage.

Y’all are making me hungry for crispy chocolate and cookie snacks.

Me? I’m in the alternate universe of Let’s Try Subtlety, Sis.

She looks fantastic. I don’t care for visible illusion netting either, and I was getting tired of this whole class of dress, but I’m siding with Jessica here.

I think the hair is great with that low back too. Spiral curls might have pushed it too far into mermaid territory.

Totally agree that the illusion netting works because you can’t see it – that’s the point of illusion netting. It’s supposed to look nude, not like figure skater tights or crappy pantyhose. This would look vulgar on me (too much boob), but she looks gorgeous. Delicate, even.

i wish that instead of illusion netting, she had just allowed the fungus to take over he entire back. i mean, i don’t need to see sternum and spine.

It’s…. ok. I actually like the back view better than the front.

I agree about the illusion netting, it works!

nope. It looks like she’s covered in mini macrame coasters.

You had me up to the shot with the bag, when I realized just how see-through that dress would have to be. And I remembered all the other dresses that recently have left so little to the imagination about things like underwear decisions and styles of bikini wax, and the whole thing was ruined for me.

Her body looks so long and her legs look stumpy in that first picture.

… was what I thought. Does she actually have a 24″ inseam? Because the full-length shot from the back has the same effect.

She looks great. Definitely giving good face.

Gotta disagree. It’s a weird color, there’s too much thigh-action happening, and she’s overdressed for the occasion. Everyone else was a lot more relaxed at this premier. She just looks kinda desperate.
She does have such a lovely face, though.

All that illusion netting…the whole thing is illusion netting with appliques…and yet you like it! I think even Abby is uncomfortable with the netting around the area she happens to be blocking carefully with her adorable clutch.

I am never going to like necklines that are cut to the navel, regardless of the strength and amount of tape employed. I am never going to like dresses with nude or sheer linings. I do like the gray color but this particular execution of it looks like she’s swathed in cobwebs. The illusion netting on the back doesn’t irritate me.

So, about a C-minus on the dress, but she is a lovely young woman.

Her face is so gorgeous, and she has such a nice figure, that this just about works, despite the mesh and peek-a-boo fabric. My question is, is this lined, or are we actually see her through the fabric? (Can’t tell from these shots.) One is enticing, the other exhibitionistic.

I don’t mind the “overexposure” of this dress because she spent so long dressing like a nun when she first was/wasn’t dating Phillippe.

WAY too much bare breast. Very tacky. To use the nicest possible word for it.

And where, may I ask, is Tom Waits? Because we all know that he is the primary reason to see this movie.

    1. I am grateful that I have no idea whether or what sort of undergarment Ms. Cornish is wearing, thank you Abbie, especially given the neckline.

    2. Would anyone else rather have seen this dress done in a dark navy or brown/black ??

Who decided this movie’s poster should be the same strange chartreuse color as the one for Perks of Being A Wallflower?

  25. anny

She’s very, very pretty. It’s too bad that right below her face, that “inexpensive” looking frock is either displaying or giving the illusion of a) pancakeage or b) droop. It’s a distraction.

But lucky Abbie, she can go home and put on a gunnysack and she STILL gets to wear that gorgeous face.

I LOVE IT! It’s my favorite color and I love the lace! It’s amazing how the illusion netting matches her skin! She looks GORGEOUS! And the movie’s cast is AWESOME… Plus, there’s a Shih Tzu in it!!! I’m so going to watch this movie! Who can resist Christopher Walken and a little dog!

Really don’t like such a deep V in front, I think it makes her look way too long-torsoed and short-legged. I also wish that it wasn’t so illlusion netting sheer all over (see thong strap in purse photo), though I love the dress otherwise. But, I am a sucker for a good doilie.

She’s never really taken off, has she? Pity because she’s so pretty and is quite good in Jane Campion’s “Bright Star” (though Campion almost always gets great performances from her actors). She seems mostly known as That Girl who Hooked Up with That Ryan Guy who Used to be Married to Reese Witherspoon.

Oh and, I think the dress looks good, illusion netting and all.
