Well Played, Elle Fanning

well-played

I don’t always love the limbs onto which Elle Fanning crawls, but I do love her for trying. Because the hits are worth the misses.

What a cool gown, and how neat that she manages to wear it while still looking like the lovely young girl she is, as opposed to a teenager trying to vault a decade ahead of herself. Well played indeed. Those Fannings have a knack for raising kids with preternatural composure.

*sighhh* I do love a great green dress.

i don’t like it on her. it’s to long and not the right colour ensemble, she is to pale for this

I completely agree. I love the dress but it doesn’t complement her skin, the bodice fit isn’t quite right, it needs hemming. A bright pink would do wonders for her.

She looks GORGEOUS here – it’s formal enough, but fun and fresh, great for her age. OK it is probably a smidge too long, but I can’t hold that against her, or the dress. She looks cute but with a bit of edge.

I do not think strapless is remotely appropriate for a 14-year-old, and it’s too long as well.

Love the fabric, but it needs to be made into something else.

I agree. I love the fabric, it’s so cute! However, I do not like strapless gowns on someone so young. Maybe I’d it had cap sleeves? Would that be too twee? A necklace wouldn’t hurt. It’s a touch too long and baggy.

        Cap sleeves could work!

I’d be okay with it if it just had a wide halter strap, even, and some (okay, a lot of) tailoring on the skirt. This might be better knee-length.

I would worry that with that fabric that a halter neckline would look too summer/spring-ish.

I think it already looks summer/spring-ish. That doesn’t bother me on Elle the way it might on an adult.

Agree with the too-long, which (for me) ruins the cool pattern effect. Her hair is also distracting…the headband is fine but the root/end contrast makes me cranky. I think she’d look lovely with it back in a non-severe bun or chignon.

The dress really does need to be an inch or two shorter, and the headband with the bracelets come across as a little matchy-matchy, but otherwise this is perfect on her. Go Fannings!

I love her dress but dislike her hair style and head band. And it’s tough to pin her prom corsage on her strapless bodice, so she’ll have to go with the wrist.

    I MUST OWN THIS DRESS.

They definitely need to chop an inch or so off the bottom and add it to the top, because it seems way too low for a 14 yr old girl. Or like it’s slipping down. Hate the headband and her hair, but I do love the dress.

Strapless is fine on a 14 year old but it’s way to long and baggy at the bottom. But it to knee length!

I think she looks like a fresh stick of Wrigley’s spearmint gum. Not sure if that’s a compliment, but she is super cute.

It’s a little ‘country club’ to me, what with the stripes and headband. But cute, and age appropriate.

She needs to have something between her clavicles and the bodice of that dress. it doesn’t look indecent; just bare.

    no…

Interesting dress, but it’s too long.
Also, why don’t they do something with her hair? I’m happy that she’s not addicted to spray tan like so many others, but the hair/skin combo does nothing but wash her out. A slightly warmer shade of blonde would do wonders for her.

She needs to ditch those godawful bracelets and hem in rather a lot. Six inches? Then it will be cute as apple pie!
