Well Played, Jennifer Love Hewitt

well-played

Look, ma, no bandages:

Is it perfect? No. There is absolutely no reason for the nylons in this scenario, and the dress is creasing in weird spots. But I think it’s so much more eye-catching than what she usually wears. It’s not that Jennifer doesn’t have the body for a bandage dress; she does. She’s got a great figure. But oftentimes, great figures are done a disservice when you’re aching so hard for people to look at them. Here, she’s relaxing a little, and it’s a striking, flattering change. We can still see the hourglass; we just aren’t looking at every grain of sand passing through it.

She gets a show about kind-touching and all of the sudden shes out looking respectable. GAHH! j/k This, even though it isnt perfect, makes her look thinner than those sausage casings she usually wears.

A great change of pace for JLH. The color is very flattering.

She looks SO MUCH BETTER in this than in those bandage dresses. She’s beautiful and has a gorgeous body, but you don’t always have to shove that at everyone. This shows off her figure in a much more sensible, attractive way. But then again, I think bandage dresses should be outlawed, so maybe I’m biased.
I agree the nylons are completely unnecessary (I think they are only necessary when you are part of some royal family, or my grandmother) and the shoes are blah. But it is a huge improvement, so it deserves a well played!

I wonder if she wore them to prevent blisters? There are some shoes I NEED to wear nylons with to keep from mutilating my feet (ergo, I never wear those shoes…but I digress).

Someone is a wannabe Princess Kate (nude pumps, nylons, conservative-ish dress). Irregardless, I’m glad Ms. Middleton is making people think about classing up their wardrobe.

I want this dress. Great, great color and shape on her, very flattering, but the eye makeup looks suspiciously out of control.

The dress is okay, albeit about two inches too long, but, I’m sorry, there is no excuse for appearing to be three entirely different skin colors.

I disagree with you about the nylons comment. I wear nylons with most dresses just because I’m not super comfortable with my legs. I’m sure JLH doesn’t have the same problems that I do, but still, sometimes it’s nice to know that everything’s at least a bit covered.

I think my problem is that EVERYTHING ELSE is so covered that it’s just… more than she needs.

Yah, I’d definitely shorten the skirt a little. But I have very pale, almost translucent skin, and I bruise very easily. Nylons are just a bit of a confidence builder because of that. But I agree that these nylons aren’t quite right.

Shiny nylons are NEVER ok in my opinion. They always look cheap to me.

Nice to see her in a flattering color. The dress doesnt fit, but at least its not to small.

Shoes are bad. Everyone just stop with the beige pump.

I think she looks fine, much better than the bandage dresses, and I LIKE the hose and shoes. A lot of times I hate panty hose, but since I am very white, and bruise easily, there are times, like a bunch of people taking my picture, that I don’t want to show EVERYTHING. And look skirts and dresses just criticized by being too dowdy. So hose–okay in this context.

This is such an improvement I’ll ignore the hose. I’m not a fan of them at all but I do understand others wanting to wear them.

Why does she insist on wearing nude shimmery pantyhose everywhere? The shimmer is the big problem here.

Her pantyhose addiction is ridiculous and needs to be stopped, just like Zooey D’s. Her calves look like they belong on a 80 year old woman. You’re only showing 5″ of leg, get some spanx already!!

I am so confused by the bodice of this dress. Is it meant to be a cowl with awesome drape and she’s just filled out nearly all the cowl space? Or is it just too big? Freaky. She does wear red well, at least.

I mean long skirts. Proof-reading is our friend!

The dress really doesn’t fit, it’s bagging in the bodice and hips. There IS a middle ground between this and a skin-tight mummy wrap.

About the weird wrinkle/bulges in the middle area–is she wearing one of those corsets, worn under boobs (and ending just below waist)? Because then the weird bulges make sense.

I like this. It does look way better than the bandage dresses she wears. I’ve always thought she was very pretty.

I’m going to use this as my forum to discuss The Client List, also. I really like it, suprisingly. But, she needs to stop wearing the super long, fake eyelashes. They are distracting.

The super-long fake lashes are the next iteration of the super-smoky shadow (and shorter fake lashes) she wore in The Ghost Whisperer. Don’t you think? I loved her eye makeup in that show, BTW, but it was a little much for a small-town antiques dealer/soul-crosser-overer.

Yes! I was so distracted by her eyelashes in the last episode…I’m crossing my fingers that there’s another “fug the client list” coming up!

(and I love her eye makeup in the Ghost Whisperer…and her hair…)

If the dress were a little shorter it would be more flattering for her legs. Just a BIT over her knees, I think.

LOVE the overall look… especially LOVE the hose!… from a man’s point of view, VERY sexy!!!!

Malefan, this I get. There is something alluring about stockings. But women today have forgotten that and have largely forgotten how to dress to be attractive to men in a more classy manner.

Wait – serious question – how are those sexy? I get the whole garter thing…but this?

      • male fan of GFY

I am a fan of ANY form of hosiery on a woman. Stockings, Stayups, Pantyhose, Tights. It’s like makeup for a woman’s legs. I find, however, that sheer to semi-opaque pantyhose are my favourite. Seeing a woman from waist to toes in beautiful nylon material is a major turn-on. It’s certainly not to all men, but very much so to me. And, from ‘guy talk’, most men do like a woman in some form of hosiery. It’s simply FEMININE!! Just do yourself a favour and stop buying cheap, poorly made, itchy, uncomfortable, drug store crap, and invest in quality hosiery from European manufacturers that are made from the finest materials, often hand assembled in the finishing stages, and are designed to look elegant and be long lasting.

Now, how are we to know whether or not JLH is wearing pantyhose? That is an assumption. She could be wearing stayups and a no-line-showing panty. But if you ask me, logic would say she’s wearing pantyhose. And judging by the look, they’re in the 20Den range. So she’s chosen a Den weight that still shows a lot of skin, yet are durable with normal wear. And she’s picked an appropriate color too. In real life lighting, they’d hardly show on her legs. She’s made bad choices of hose in the past, but this time she nailed it. I bet they’re expensive ones too.

okay now she just needs to work on the make up, fake tan and the hair!

The nylons need to stop NOW. I agree that this dress is better than the bandage dresses she usually wears that squish her.. but this is covering too much.

Really Male Fan? It’s sexy to know a woman will have a red line of irritation around her waist and sweaty lady parts?

My wife wears pantyhose nearly every day, for both business and on personal time, and has no problem whatsoever with “red line” or “sweaty parts”. What you’re perhaps unaware of is that today’s premium hosiery — generally made in Europe from the finest materials — have addressed and eliminated these problems with modern technology. Waistbands are comfortable, and crotch panels are lined with cotton and very hygienic, no different from wearing any other undergarment. Ladies, if you wish to wear pantyhose for any reason, do yourselves a HUGE favour and buy the GOOD stuff. Sure it costs more, but overall they looks and feel WAY better! AND, they last LONGER with proper care.

I’m in the minority here, but I like the mdi length of the dress. It looks classic in a 1940s-1950s way. As for the nylons, perhaps I’m too much into watching Kate Middleton, but I like the idea of having hosiery as a finishing touch. It can add a ladylike polish to a look, but it’s hard to get the right ones that don’t look so mumsy.

    Eyelash overkill!!!!!!!!! I give everything else a thumbs-up. :)

The dress is fine, though it would be better if it was just above the knee, but I can’t say I’m keen on the light streaks in her hair and her makeup artist has made her look tired.

If it fit on the top instead of having that pseudo cowl neck, this would be amazing – color and all. NYLONS – NO! *hyperventilating*

She’s wearing nylons, because like me, she has ‘sturdy’ legs that have cellulite. We look better in nylons, altho she could afford something more shear than ‘Leggs. Please, Godess, bring back nylons!
