Could I love Viola Davis any more?
No. The answer is no. Look how fabulous her skin is. And how amazing she looks in that color. The dress isn’t revolutionary, but the trick is, it doesn’t have to be: The color is great, the cut is flattering, and she is DIVINE, so why fall into the trap of ornate nonsense or avant-garde yada-yada? Sometimes simplicity IS key.

God, she’s magnificent. Her skin is wondrous, and I LOVE her natural hair. Note to self: wake up tomorrow morning as Viola Davis.
I agree. She is just stunningly glowy, and the blue dress colour is a really interesting choice and sets off her gorgeous skin to perfection. I think she would look even better with darker (less red) hair, but this is a quibble.
This haircolor suits her much more than the last time I saw her natural hair, when it was blonde and really unflattering. She looks ridiculously fiiiine here.
Perfection! I just love her.
i wish there were a little more decoration somewhere. A delicate belt? a long necklace? The earrings blend in. But you’re lovely and talented, Viola! Please come with me to get cupcakes!
Gorgeous!
Her face looks rounder here, more full (no, I’m not saying she had work done).
I think it’s a combination of the heaviness of her eye liner, the natural dark hues that come to her face when she minimizes her make-up, and the way her afro frames her face.
I think the dress is superfluous. Just walk around in that glowing chocolate skin and WIN.
Agreed. Her skin is amazing.
Viola’s complexion is unbelievably gorgeous. I wonder how people in her presence can resist reaching out just to touch her. She looks so velvety.
And I agree, for her, less is more. When you look that great naturally, let it speak for itself! And the color of the dress does set her off beautifully.
She just glows.
lovely, talented lady in a pretty dress. what’s not to like? you go, viola <3
It is a lovely color, but I think it needs a necklace. And I love her hair style, but I think it would look better with black hair instead of red.
Wow! She looks like a goddess! Awesome color!
I love the minimalist styling, the earrings with no necklace is the best because of that AMAZING skin. And that dress? I’d beat up any number of people to own it and look that amazing in it.
Beautiful!
C’est magnifique!
Love the dress… Wish it was mine! And, I love it when she wears her hair au naturel! FAB!
Agreed. Yet I loather her rootbeer colored hair. It just matches to close to her skin. I would much rather see it in it’s natural shade of deep brown/black.
The point has already been made that she glows…the dress looks almost dust-matte by comparison. Interesting illusion. Suits her so very well. Want to reach into that photo and touch her.
Mongerel Score: A
(demerit for neckline 3/4 inch too deep – the titscrepancy is needlessly distracting).
WOW! In a good way.
gorgeous!
Only question I had, what’s the odd shading of the v-necked patch under her chin? Just weird lighting?
I saw several other angles of of her at this event, and it’s just lighting at this angle. The lighting here also makes her boobs looks slightly uneven here, but in other angles she looked perfect.
I literally gasped when I first saw a picture of her in this dress. So, so gorgeous. And this dress highlights her amazing skin and figure and face, not distract or compete. She is divine.
Wowzer, that is a spectacular color on her.
Beeeeautiful!! Such a flattering cut.
Amazing. The color, the texture, and cut — everything works so well in combination with the radiant skin. It’s sort of mesmerizing. I do understand folks maybe wanting a necklace or some other subtle ornamentation, but for me, I prefer it as is. The absolute, pure, unadulterated simplicity is key. I almost fear that adding anything would take this from the sublime to the mundane.
What gorgeous skin she has! I almost can’t even see the dress because of it…
Seconded, thirded, hundreded — she’s gorgeous. Her skin, her face — amazing. And I seriously appreciate that she doesn’t have her boobs hiked to her chin, nor her sternum waving ‘hello.’ One small wish — just an eensy bit more of boob wrangling, though.
WHAT does she do to make her skin look so yummy? If she ever says in an interview that it’s just lots of water and sleep, SHE IS LYING. Then again, it may be something as simple as Vaseline. Who knows? She ain’t tellin’. I covet the dress, BTW.
As a black woman, I can say, that some black people (men AND women) are literally just born with this luscious, soft skin and the only thing they do to maintain it is put on a little Vaseline intensive care (if they’re from the West Indies originally. If they’re from North America, they probably put on some upmarket version. lol).
I am a black woman who does *not* have skin of this variety. Mine is coppery brown, in summer with gold highlights, and it is dry, dry, dry. I get lots of compliments on my skin, but it takes some serious upkeep and a lot of water.
No, I ain’t jealous…

Her eyes are absolutely hypnotic. Gorgeous! Just…wow.
Perfection.
She’s gorgeous. Some commenters have mentioned that her hair would look better darker. It would, but I love that she has the balls to go au naturel. Therefore, it could be bright orange and she would still win.
I love it! And holy crap, she is stunning. I’d pay to know her skincare regimen.
And look! Her dress is hemmed to the proper length! This woman can do no wrong.
Holy crap that’s a great dress. And I feel like the cut of it could flatter a lot of different shapes and sizes (i.e. my big butt) so I like it extra for that. And yes, she is a really beautiful lady. Girl crush imminent.
Love her natural hair but I agree, less red would really set off her skin. And the dress is wonderful…if only I had an occasion to wear something so lovely.
Why does Viola Davis look 20 years younger in real life than she does in her movies? She needs to find a role where she can flaunt her hot self, stat.
Stunning!
I scrolled down and read what I was about to type:
Stunning!
She’s absolutely gorgeous. Not the “I hate you” kind of gorgeous either. It’s the “You make the world a better place by being you” kind.
she really is a fantastic actress and such a beautiful woman.
Beautiful skin color, perfect gown color on her. She looks absolutely fabulous.
