Forgetting to button your shirt in the exact same manner and at THE EXACT SAME EVENT as Chloe Sevigny. (I must add that I secretly love this photo, because the Sev looks like she’s starring in a movie in which she’s pluckily investigating a murder and is being chased through a library by the dude we’re all supposed to think is the murderer, but who is secretly an undercover cop/Chloe’s soulmate. Who is only chasing her because he wants to tell her SHE TOTALLY FORGOT TO BUTTON HER SHIRT.)
Look. Let’s get real. This outfit is batshit crazy, even if it is Prada (I assume it’s Prada — they’re both at a Prada event and I find it hard to believe they would independently decide to wear THIS PARTICULAR ENSEMBLE were it not thematic). This top/bra (tra? Brop?) is the sort of thing most women would look at and say, “you want me to pay HOW MUCH for WHAT? PUT DOWN THE ROCK.” But that doesn’t mean we can’t discuss which of them comes closer to maybe pulling it off. Me? I have to go with C. Sev, if only because her skirt is so cute and I’m really, really REALLY REALLY scared Z. Sald is wearing culottes – or, as well call them here at GFY HQ, “the Devil’s Skort.”

Zoe’s bra/skirt/tights color family is pretty and pulls the look together and the blouse and skirt have a nice complementary fabric and color connections.

Holy giant pelvis, that’s a lot of lumpy, swollen real estate Zoe’s sporting between belt and crotch (not to mention the nasty camel toe). Those pants make that very cute girl look like my Grandmama wearing her “good” polyester on a day she’s forgotten to take her diuretic. Not a great advertisement for Prada, all in all.

I’m giving Zoe a pass only because her – outfit? ensemble? big mess? – looks like the bra-flash is intentional. Whereas The Sev does, in fact, look like she totally forgot to button her shirt. That skirt does not go with the belly-button halter look.
Could be the expression on her face, though. Even she looks surprised by this one. As do her boobs, though they look more ‘in pain’ than ‘shocked to be on public display.’
Zoe’s outfit doesn’t come together for me – I have to admit, I’m starting to dig the modest-bra-as-top trend, but Zoe’s doesn’t look deliberate enough to me. She really does look like she just popped a few buttons…

There are so many things I dislike about Saldana’s outfit – thick tights with loose, airy fabric; said thick tights with strap shoes (how is this not in the sandals and socks category of fashion faux pas yet?); the tra; and how cheap the fabric looks, like it’s made of shiny outdoor screens or mosquito netting.
I’m going to have to go to Sevigny even if her bra is showing and I can’t tell if it’s purposeful… because the skirt is beautiful and I love the palette.
Both outfits are fug. However, I have to vote for Zoe. Chloe as a fashion icon, or even moderately attractive, is inexplicable to me. While she looks better than normal here despite the unfortunate outfit, Zoe has her beat by miles.
This bra top thing is really just sort of icky to me, though.
You need to make a “neither” button.
I don’t think Zoe’s bottom layer is culottes — I think it’s a skirt. Partly because when the picture is enlarged it looks like a slit down at the bottom, and partly because the length of the garment between the waist and the crotch is so long that it might be physically impossible for a human being less than 10 feet tall to have a pelvis that long.
Regardless of how anyone else dresses, by definition, C.Sev is always fugliest.

The unbuttoned look on both of them evokes the scenario of a teacher who forgot to button up before third period after a quickie in the custodian’s closet with the gym coach.
Sev looks more like the teacher who would excuse the wardrobe mishap away by pretending it was part of her lesson plan on Sons and Lovers, so she gets the point.
Zoe’s outfit is so lumpy and sheer and is all sorts of try-to-hard. Where as Chloe’s outfit looks like Grandma Sev had one too many spiked metamucils before her pottery class. And who can’t get down with that?
Cannot ever, ever vote for Chloe as any kind of fashion inspiration/success. Therefore Zoe wins by default. Also, I actually really really love her tights/shoes combo. Chloe actually looks like this was an accident. Her hair has not been washed in 4 days. And SHE decided to show off a bra that actually doesn’t fit at all. Smart.

No one’s mentioned the fact that neither of their shirts actually have any buttons. How can you pretend to have forgotten to button your shirt if it’s not even physically possible?

As much as it pains me because Chloe seriously annoys me, I like her outfit better – in the sense of the lesser of two evils. The skirt fits better, the fabrics look more luxe. I do not dig the bra-as-top look, whether it’s straight from the runway or not. To quote my beloved Daniel V. (speaking of Runway), “Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.”
I voted C.Sev. only because there was not, as others have suggested, a Neither button. I did like the murder mystery library scenario, however, I do not want to see someone’s BRA, a bra is not a top just as leggings or bare legs are not PANTS! And it’s a little insulting for people to walk around like, “What? WHAT? This is a top…” when, clearly, they secretly know it is not and the voting majority know it is not. Who at Prada is snickering this morning seeing that these two fools fell for it. Who wants to humiliate women through fashion? So many questions.
They both look insane, but Z looks more like a clued-out bohemian artsy-type circa 1921 so it kinda works more for me, even with the awful tights (very DH Lawrence-ish). Chloe’s skirt looks like something the Queen Mother would have worn to cut a ribbon somewhere, so the fabric posing as a shirt and the bra are just that much more…incongruous?
How can you have a conversation with someone dressed like that? It’s the same thing as spinach-in-the-teeth syndrome; you don’t WANT to look, but your eyes keep darting. My mother would throw a fit. I vote neither.
I voted for C. Sev., too…mainly because, as so many of said here already, there is no “neither” selection. I, also, voted for her because she fills it out better and thus makes it work a little more (if that is even possible in such a heinous get-up). I mean, it’s a craptastic outfit, but at least her cleavage is kind of mesmerizing, you’ve got to admit.

I had to go for the Sev for sole reason of Z.S.’s tights. I am a fan of tights, but not those particular tights with the light material of the clothing.
That said, the colors (excepting the bra, which I am studiously ignoring) on ZS are beautiful. That shade of blue is a personal fave. Really like CS’s skirt, but not the shade of the top- or maybe extra wide suspenders would be more accurate.
This is an unfair competition because we can’t see The Sev’s shoes. I can pretty much stomach Zoe’s outfit if I don’t look above her ankles and I pretend she has maroon skin. Then it’s okay. The Sev’s purse is cute, so I guess I’ll only look at her left wrist.
Ahhh….now I can stop hyperventilating and make some kind of judgment on the poll.
p.s. I’d totally go see a movie called The Devil’s Skort starring The Sev in that murder mystery library scenario. In the theater, too, not just on DVD.

However, it seems as though these women are stuck in that midriff baring time and one has hammer pants to boot. Let’s be honest they both look ridiculous, but I give the Sev the win because at least she looks like this was intentional. Zoe seriously looks like she did forget to button her shirt on an already terrible outfit. Chloe looks like she’s wearing something insane but somehow also high fashion, which is sort of her thing anyways. She looks like she could stand to go up half a cup size though.
I won’t vote because they both look like idiots. Zoe looks completely disheveled: hair, clothes, everything! Chloe’s skirt is gorgeous, but that is the only positive thing I have to say about these outfits.
I think it looks like Chloe is wearing a beige bra under her brop and it is peeking out. It’s like taking the non-top and making it JUST a little trashier by showing her real underwear, too.

Zoe’s top half looks better – I like her shirt a lot, and her bra looks normal. Her bottom half is a complete fug-tacle, though. ‘Nuff said.
I like Chloe’s skirt, and all of her outfit pieces actually look like an ensemble, so good job there. However. That is one ugly grandma bra, and it doesn’t fit right. And I think it’s just the lighting and the fact that the bra doesn’t fit, but it’s making her boobs look generally strange, too. So much so that I actually voted for Zoe, because as much as I think the ensemble is fug, the real issue here for me is the bra area, and hers was causing less of a scene.
Okay, here’s the thing…there are no buttons on sev’s shirt. So it doesn’t look like she forgot to button it. It looks like she started to make a shirt in home ec and did not have enough time to finish it and wore it anyway with a cute bra. And, is that ANOTHER shirt I see on her arm? Or a shawl? I imagine her belly is pretty cold right now. Right now the extra shirt/shawl (shrawl?) seems superfluous. As does this whole ensemble. Neither c.sev or zaldana have given me enough information to work with.
I….actually….have to give this one to….Chloe. Eventhough this pains me to type. Saldana is wearing high-waisted short pants with MATCHING TIGHTS and shoes that are so not meant for this outfit. None of the colors really come together for her and whole outfit is just weird and oddly out of season given that it’s NOVEMBER and we’re not at a beach event.

BUT I have to say that I am so glad that you made that comment about the picture looking like a murder/thriller movie. Because when I saw it, I definitely thought it was from CSI or something. And I know Chloe is probably not on CSI and you’re offended right now. But I don’t have a TV and am ignorant about these things.

Both outfits are a triumph of fug – they manage to look simultaneously dowdy and trashy. Unpleasant colours in both, though some credit to C for the vaguely moody palette. Terrible fit of bra for CS and skirt for Z.

Zoe’s outfit is just plain horrible… Mismatched, terrible colors, textures, and shapes combine only to highlight what appears to be one of the ugliest, commonest bras of all time.
