Zara’s purple hat completely looks like it was photoshopped onto her head. Now that I’ve had that thought, I can’t unsee it.

Oddly, I really like Princess Anne’s coat. It may be my favorite item in this entire slide show. I never thought that would be possible.
Me, too. Actually, with all of the general royal exposure this year, I’ve come to find I enjoy Princess Anne’s sartorial choices. She is a Royal of a Certain Age, and dresses the part really well.
I particularly love the terminator sunglasses worn by Princess Anne in the second slide.
Okay, is no one going to comment on Anne’s eyewear? Those are some rebel shades right there. Does she secretly run with bikers on weekends?

I cannot figure out yellow. I came across a cute yellow dress today & thought, “NO. WALK AWAY. I AM NOT SOLANGE.” But then Pips just pulled it off & she’s got similar coloring to me. Yellow, you are a fickle lover.
I’m also having a huge conflict of interest with fur. I’ve always been too young / concerned about the cruelness of it all, but it looks so lush I’m starting to think a good recycled fur from my grandmother’s closet may be forgiven.
So basically Pippa has made me rethink yellow and fur in one photo. BUSY DAY, PIPPA.
My own philosophy regarding fur is that I’ll wear it only if it’s vintage (Mad Men era or earlier). Certainly I understand why people would take a harder line and reject all fur, and if you feel that way but love vintage, it’s possible to find wonderful vintage fake fur items. All my mother’s furs were fake, including her fabulous turban, because of the expense.
I have my grandmother’s pre-Mad-Men vintage genuine leopard-skin muff. It is deeply cool, and I love it, but I’m afraid to take it out in public, quite honestly.
I have THREE vintage fur items and I wear them all. I would never buy a new fur item, but I think it seems a waste to let my inherited vintage pieces languish. I adore them, and I feel like I might as well wear them rather than throw them away.
I do the same thing. My justification is that if the animal were in the wild, he’d be dust by now anyway. Besides, I’m always cold.:)
Well, we have horse racing festivals all over the place in the US; it’s just a gigantic country so it’s hard to get to a lot of them from any one location. Also, we’re not nearly as horse-mad a country as the UK. We also don’t have much steeplechase racing. There are plenty of prep races for the Triple Crown season going on, but the sporting news is full of March Madness, Spring Training, etc, etc..
Del Mar and Santa Anita in California are lots of fun. There are four major race meetings a year in Kentucky: April and October at Keeneland in Lexington; and May and November at Churchill Downs in Louisville. Saratoga in New York in August is lovely also. I haven’t been to Belmont or Pimlico, or any of the Florida tracks, so I couldn’t say what they are like.
There’s amazing horse-country here in Virginia, and the races are always a fun party. There’s a steeplechase called the Montpelier Hunt Races in Charlottesville, Virginia, and it’s a very fancy deal. Probably no where near enough hats, though.
Ugh. Pinkie rings. UGH.
Say what you will about Pippa, but the girl knows how to accessorize. And I’m talking about the men as much as the hats.
