Some of these are more successful than others. I love the Vogue Wall of Bushes behind everyone though. First of all, it’s an elegant backdrop for arrival pictures and you know that’s one of the reasons Vogue always uses it. Second, I like to imagine that Anna makes every celebrity compete in a mini Triwizard Tournament to get to the open bar, and this is the hedge maze portion of the evening.

It is one of my not so secret joys that Karlie Kloss & Coco Rocha are besties in real life, because they are both just so adorable/strikingly beautiful. Social media has made me far too invested in the personal lives of people I don’t know. Oh, also, Emma & Coco for the win fashion wise at this event.
I was just coming here to say that. They are both hitting the perfect balance of funky, cute and beautiful design– while being GORGEOUS LADIES I would love to hang out with.
Coco Rocha and Emma Stone are simply delightful. Christina Ricci got lost on her way to the GQ party.
Emma and Coco are the most perfectly beautiful, well turned out, stylish ones by far. And Carolyn , too- perfect. And the thing is- they are smiling , they look happy and relaxed.
I think if you take that weird blue shirt off Alexa Chung, it might work.
And I don’t hate Christina Ricci’s outfit – but maybe just because she’s totally selling it (and the lipstick matches the purple band, ish).
Actually love the theory of Cody Horn’s dress, but something in the execution is a bit off.
Anyone else think Coco Rocha looked a bit like K Stew in that last photo?
I thought she looked like Ashley Greene. Weird.
I think whoever she looks like, it is just unfair for her look so fab in orange lipstick.
I actually thought Rose McGowan!! *squints* Yep, still McGowan-esque to me.
Coco for president!!! Emma for VP. Assorted other good looking people with odd outfits will find appropriate positions in that cabinet.
Except Roe and Roy – they look like drag queens who are crashing the event.
Coco Rocha. AWESOME!
Liv Tyler. Puh-leeez.
Emma Stone wins. Coco is fabulous and she knows it.
Why does it look like Erin Featherston had to wade through Lake Clorox to get to this event?
Kloss looks phenomenal, including her dress. I actually think the skirt portion of Chung’s outfit is ethereal perfection. She ruins every outfit with her smug fashion pretentiousness, in my humble opinion. I like the colors of Christina Ricci’s dress thing, but not the sheen to the fabric, I think–even so, I think it would be pretty rad if the skirt was cut more sleekly. Also, there is something ineffably appealing to me about Cody Horn’s outfit.
Me too. I liked Cody’s dress a lot, I just think the orange was a little too startling for it overall. And I secretly liked Ricci’s dress too, I think mainly because of the colors.
I too would like to know how Alexa Chung has managed to trick fashion people into thinking that she is a style leader. She pretty much always looks awful.
How has no one mentioned LIv’s shoes?!? Those are cloven hoof bad!
I was just getting to that particular candy bar, CHUNKY! And its sister bar, CLUNKY!
I came here to post about how horrible and terrible and nasty 90s they were! and on a happier note how Emma Stone had the look of the month with that outfit, Gorge!
I might like Cody Horn’s if it lost that yellow dickie/blouse/thing. I get what they were going for, but it’s not working. And Iman’s may be simple, but dear god, she is so gorgeous.
Emma Stone always looks adorable–hey, she IS adorable!
Christina Ricci looks amazeballs! I don’t know why the hate, I think as far as the weird cut out trend this is awesome! she is “fit!” It’s interesting!
I also think she looks good! Love Christina Ricci!!!
I don’t understand why she always looks like she is trying to seduce the photographer.
Nice use of elbow length sleeves on a couple of these dresses; very flattering.
I think (??) i might love Alexa’s shoes but I can’t see all of them…anyone know who they are, and how many months of rent they would cost me?
I too think I might like her shoes if I could see the whole thing. Alexa chung just drives me nuts though. Mainly because she is a very pretty girl and could look so much better, but she insists on never brushing her hair and dressing like an overgrown five year old.
I am also wondering how many months rent Karlie Kloss’ glasses would cost me because I love them.
Emma Stone, Carolyn Murphy & Coco Rocha look FABULOUS! Every one else kind of horrifies me, except for Christina & Liv, who look good!
Is it just me, or do Alexa Chung and Liv Tyler look surprisingly similar facially in these photos?
I love Emma’s look…but maybe the top is a little ill fiiting on the chest? It makes her look kind of odd: too tiny chest and massive shoulders?
I had a guidance counselor in jr. high that wore pointy-toed pumps and stood EXACTLY like Carolyn Murphy is standing, ALL THE TIME. Bless her, she was really old and I always wondered if she used to be a model. Her lips were usually very orange.
Wow, nothing ever gets really deleted from the hard drive that is our brain, does it.
Re: Mini Triwizard Tournament, that would be brilliant and now I wish Anna Wintour had had a cameo in the Harry Potter films, perhaps as someone in the Ministry of Magic.
Sometimes I wish you’d tell me where I can buy a (much, much) cheaper version of the beautiful dresses you feature here. For example, Coco Rocha’s dress in the last slide. Kristen Stewart’s weird jumpsuits, on the other hand, not so much..
I have thoughts:
1. Gwendoline/Brienne of Tarth could kick all of our asses, but she’s so lovely. Do that dress in an actual color and she would look regal. (Purple? Burgundy? Emerald green?)
2. Coco Rocha is one of the only models who appears to have personality, and not in a “I won’t get out of bed for less than $10,000″ way. I like her.
3. Those glasses are very, very cute.
4. Erin Featherton and Alexa Chung both look like they are trying to be Alice in Wonderland all the time. I have no idea who made those people a thing. Thank God Featherton lost her Bettie Page bangs. Now maybe if she quit looking like a deer in the headlights we could get somewhere, because that dress is not tragic (though the belt is ridiculous.) Chung, however, is a lost cause. New haircut and start over from scratch, please. Next person who calls her an “icon” loses her fashion license forever.
5. I keep getting Erin Featherton mixed up with the model that Leo diCaprio just broke up with. Their names are too similar. Can’t someone fix that?
6. Liv Tyler’s dress is so severe–but the fabric looks like a Morpho butterfly. Can’t someone make her a long dress in that fabric? Floor-length, with crossover spaghetti straps and an open back? How gorgeous would that be? How about it, Posen?
7. Christina Ricci’s legs look amazing, and would get more attention if she did not unleash the sternum quite so much here.
Heh, the ombre part on Erin Fetherston’s dress lines up exactly with where the shrubbery ends. It looks like the picture is doing some creepy time travelling fade thing from the bottom up.
I got to slide 2 and had to come back to comment. WHY does Alexa Chung ALWAYS stand like THAT?!? Like she’s 2 years old and twee and adorable??
She is not.
(ahem) Emma Stone is a gift to all of us and I could not love her any more than I do. And she always looks amazing! There, see, I ended on a happy note.
I guess it’s just me, but there’s something about the photo of Emma Stone that makes her look like she’s much smaller/narrower than looks normal? Is it the dress being a little diminishing to her chest? Her torso looks like a little girl’s. I’m not putting this well, but it just struck me as off somehow. But, the outfit itself is lovely and her face and hair look great.
Cocoa Rocha’s outfit is so pretty.
I like the bottom part of Cody Horn’s ensemble. The top is overpowering.
And Liv Tyler’s outfit I just can’t get behind at all!
Agree about Emma Stone. As lovely as she is, this outfit looks a little unfinished for such an event. Some jewellery wouldn’t go astray.
Allison Williams’ dress reminds me of when I was 15 and went from being a preppy to a stoner and I strategically slashed up all of my very classic clothes. I don’t understand why Liv Tyler consistently dresses like she’s a small town bank teller from 1982.
Please, please tell us how that went down with your mother – assuming she’d bought you all those classic clothes. Did you have to explain the stoner element?
For what it’s worth:
1. “Collarless Buttoned to the Neck works on VERY FEW PEOPLE.” So true.
2. The pattern Coco’s dress is strangely reminiscent of a technicolour yawn. That’s why you’re not wearing it right now.
3. Most of these women should have followed the rule of taking off what you last put on before your leave the house.
C’est tout.
Has Erin Fetherston borrowed that coral dress from Michelle Williams? It totally looks like something she would wear!
how’s it that most of these girls look like their headed out for a day at the office?
I can’t help it but for me bushes = shrubbery and: “We are the Knights Who Say… Nee!”
Do they get a herring at the entrance?
this!
I could not be more obsessed with Emma Stone’s outfit. I saw it a couple days ago (I can’t remember where), but I immediately fell in love! Navy! Green! Sequins! Peplum! Be still my heart! Oy. I would wear that outfit everywhere, all day long, and be gloriously happy.
Not to be all Mommy Dearest, but… No. Bare. Midriffs. EVER.
I love seeing the Game of Thrones cast out and about in the real world! I never would have recognized her as Brienne, you know…without the armor, sword, and general mannish treatment of her.
I don’t like that side parting on Emma or the blonde hair.
Christina Ricci looks like she’s come from cheerleader’s practice.
Emma looks adorbs, Coco Rocha is gorgeous as always. Christina Ricci looks incredibly cheap, and it’s not just the dress, something about the hair and makeup
I’m getting so cantankerous in my old age! Oh, okay — I’m only 32, and I’ve always been this way. But my actual point is that as adorable as Emma Stone always is, and as cute as that outfit is, and as much as her girls are covered in a lovely way…I still want to go in and yank up the top.
I know, I know; time to collect my cat and lifetime subscription to Reader’s Digest.
Liz, you’re not ready for RD and a cat. You just understand what Emma doesn’t: mystery is sexy.
I know three people in this post.
Is this a British thing or something?
However put Liv Tyler in that Margaret Thatcher dress does not deserve a career in fashion.
