Ditto! This peplum lays more naturally than most. And the simpleness of the dress helps immensely. This was the perfect choice for her.

Miss Thing looks ab fab, though I quibble with the ugly ‘do and the nude lips. She plays it safe amid a sea of desperados in this flattering conservative get-up.
What I truly can’t process is WHY she was there AT ALL. Twirly Twat Beyonce (who is the penultimate mac+cheese of “talent”) has a sister and THAT is enough impetus to walk the carpet at this event? Times are HARD. Anemic USA culture is failing my standards.

Why shouldn’t she be there? It’s Opening Night and a fundraiser for The Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. People do refer to it as “Fashion’s Oscars” but that refers to it being a Major Event, not that it is an industry awards ceremony. 700 people attend the ball and apparently Lady Vogue, Duchess of Bobbington, is in charge of the guest list. Solange attended because, presumably, Anna Wintour gave her the thumbs-up. As for why she’s being featured in the red carpet coverage, well, she looks better than everybody else there. It is a visual medium.

Would it be p.olitically incorrect to say giant afro is way too dated???? Other than that, I love the dress’ color and fit on her and I seriously covet that bracelet. Me too would have preferred a stronger lip color.

Yes Rubee, it would be incorrect, not just “politically” incorrect. Young women of color need to see MORE women wearing their hair naturally: not chemically tortured straight, or painfully suppressed under a mane of fake, long, “Caucasian-looking” strands (like 99% of Black female celebrities seem to invest huge amounts of money and time into donning). I give people like Solange and Viola Davis TOTAL props for letting it be.
As a black woman with natural hair, I agree, but I’m not sure all that glorious hair is Solange’s. I feel like her ‘fro is smaller; I found a photo with her hair like this that’s captioned “Solange Knowles afro wig.” It might be a low-heat blowout though, although she’d probably lose more of the curl in that case. It looks fantastic, regardless.
I still don’t like that peplums are a thing, but she. Looks. Gorgeous. This yellow (I envy people who can wear yellow, as I cannot) looks stunning on her.
