   Freaky Fug Friday will be back eventually. It’s very time-consuming to judge them, so we can’t really do them during weeks when there is a lot of other stuff happening to cover, like the Oscars, Fashion Week, etc. BUT. We haven’t stopped them forever, I promise.

   I agree about the photo galleries… it would be nice if you guys could get a flash gallery so that the page wouldn’t have to reload everytime.

   As for the clothes, Mila Kunis is easily the best dressed for me. It was soft and pretty, but a little risque with the bare chest, and just different enough without being bonkers. Melissa Leo and her starched glitter doily craft time dress made worst dressed for me.

    I wish you had separeted the votes into 2 categories: “Best Dressed & Worst Dressed at the Oscars” and “Best Dressed & Worst Dressed at the Oscars’ afterparties” because because I’m torn when I have to vote for just one!

    My Best Dressed at the Oscars was Gwyneth Paltrow, but my Best Dressed at the Oscars’ afterparties was Kate Beckinsale and I HATE that I can only vote for one of them! But, I had to vote for Gwynie because the question was “Who was Best Dressed at The Oscars?”… I’m sorry I wasn’t able to vote for you too, Kate!

    Likewise, my Worst at The Oscars was Jennifer Hudson and my Worst at the Oscar’s aferparties was Lea Michelle, but I could only vote for Jennifer H!

    Thank you for posting all the pictures again in the Picture Gallery for comparison, though! Good job, Fug Girls!!!

    I dunno what to say about Cate — yes, she’s fabulous, yes, the dress is High Fashion with a capital H and a capital F, and yes, it undeniably stood out in a sea of risk-adverse choices. But for me, “best dressed” isn’t just about fashion as performance art. I voted for Gabrielle Union — gorgeous dress that beautifully flatters a gorgeous woman. Hailee was a very close runner up, God I love that girl.
    Lots of candidates for worst, but I went with Madonna. Brooklyn, Cameron, Eva and Zoey D. were also in the running.

    So hard to choose. I voted for Mandy Moore’s performance dress for best dressed. But also LOVED Beckinsale and Blanchett.

    I voted Cameron Diaz for worst dressed. She is just tiresome. There are a lot of options for worst though.

    I loved Cate Blanchett’s dress but I’m not sure if that is because the dress is awesome or because I just really love Cate. Anyway, I actually came down between the high neck dresses of Amy Adams and Kate Beckinsale. Amy won because I can’t stand Kate and Amy’s hair is fabulous.

    I could not believe what Jena Malone was wearing. That … top or whatever it was looked like one of those sport bras I had when I was twelve. What the hell was she thinking? Madonna is crazy, so she’s allowed to wear crazy, although it truly was fug. I almost voted Rashida Jones as worst because her dress was just, y’know, hideous.

    Really, so many Mila lovers? Dude that thing wrapped around her waist was cutting into her internal organs. I just can’t.

    Also, I know she’s kind of minor leagues but Gabrielle Union looked so lovely I can’t get over it so my vote went to her for Best.

    So hard to choose! Worst was between Cameron Diaz, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Madonna. I picked Madonna because she’s old enough to know better.

    Best was between Gabrielle Union, Helen Mirren, Hilary Swank (I love that dress!), Juliette Lewis (hard to believe I know!), Mila Kunis, and Natalie Portman. And Hailee Steinfeld because she looked very pretty and age appropriate. And I thought about HBC because I love her! I went with Gabrielle Union — simply beautiful!

    Agreed that there needs to be an Oscars Red Carpet ONLY poll and a parties poll… apples and oranges people, apples and oranges. It’s all about context- there is no comparison between these two. If Blanchett wore that dress to one of the parties it would be devastatingly less AWESOME.

    Gabrielle Union for best dressed, it was a seriously stunning dress.

    Worst dressed was a process of elimination, I eventually settled on Paz because everything was just so freaking ugly, but Madonna, Vanessa from Gossip Girl, Naomi Watts, Eva Mendes and Jena Malone were all close seconds.

    I can’t believe you could say that Zoe Sadalna, regardless of how awesome she is, is working that red dress! NO! …It’s not the neck ruffle, that i can deal with. It’s the GOD AWFUL scraps of red and pink hanging at uneven, choppy lengths in the the skirt. By no means is that what I call pulling off a look. It looks like a stapled together, valentine’s themed, makeshift curtain in a college dorm room. Sorry, Zoe, sometimes the truth hurts.

    Best: Mila, with honorable mentions for Amy Adams, Hailee Steinfeld, and Anne Hathaway’s Versace.

    Worst is a toss-up between Anika’s muppet pelt stole and Rita Wilson, but I voted for Rita because it appears she’s wearing real fur with that ugly loud-patterned dress. Perfect example of lots of money and no taste.

    Also awful: Brooklyn, Cody, and Zooey.

    A suggestion: Next year, separate out the celebs on the actual Oscars red carpet from those just attending parties. It’ll make your list shorter.

    I chose Natalie Portman for best-dressed, because she really did look beautiful. The gown was perfect and I loved her styling.

    Melissa Leo got worst. I do not understand that dress.

    Well, maybe not. Madonna, after all, deserves the worst-dressed.

    But, Blanchett and Kunis made it on my worst-dressed list too, along with Rita Wilson, Jessica Szhor and Florence And The Carpet.

    Best: I really liked both Hailee Steinfeld and Amy Adams’s dresses, but I voted for Hailee because pink and princessy is more my style.

    Fug Girls, I adore you, I really do. But I wish you had included Jacki Weaver in your Oscars wrap up. I know I’m just being a flag-waving Aussie here, but I thought she improved dramatically from her Golden Globes outfit so it would have been nice to see her featured and see your take on her dress.

    Not to worry, hopefully it won’t be the last time we see her at one of these big events so there’ll be more opportunity for fugging or fabbing.

    While I think Mila Kunis is beautiful and I love her. Je vous adore Mlle. Kunis. I don’t like her dress. The bodice is pretty but the skirt looks like the messed-up homemade vanity my crazy aunt made from some scrap lumber and some old thrift shop curtains. Thank god we got her bedazzler away from her towards the end.

    There were only a few dresses I LOOOOOOOOOOOVED but I had to go with Kate Beckinsale for Best Dressed for wearing a sparkly universe that looked super gorge, and Rita Wilson was my easy choice for Worst Dressed for wearing the sartorial equivalent of a conniption fit.

    And thank you Fug Girls, for all your hard work in making these post so much fun to read and participate in!!! I don’t even watch the Oscars or give a dang who wins what, but I look forward to Oscar Fug season every year. I eagerly await Fug Madness!!!

    I was underwhelmed by most of the dresses on the red carpet. I liked a few of Anne Hathaway’s dresses, but I really loved the Mandy Moore performance dress. Such a gorgeous color!

    Worst, by faaaaar, was Madonna. I think she knew she had been out of the Fug Madness running and decided to go for Fug in a big way. HID.E.OUS.

    Thanks for all the coverage, girls! I never watch ANY awards shows, but I generally read your live blogging and I always look forward to seeing the dresses. You guys don’t disappoint!!

    I loved Helen Mirren’s dress and the way it suited both her and the event. Total class from top to bottom. But Hailee Steinfeld- gorgeous.
    I was rather disappointed in the worst dressed category. Not much stood out for me so I went for Madge and her not -quite-there hooker look. And Eve Mendes must have been on drugs when she picked out that black confection.

    I clicked through the slideshow and saw Jena Malone. I thought, “Well, nothing could be worse than that.” Then I saw Madonna’s, and became at last convinced that I had a sure Worst Dressed candidate. THEN I saw Michelle Rodriguez. So my bottom three all basically the same dress, but what an incredibly awful dress it is. Traumatized.

    Voted Penelope Cruz for best, but Hailee, Mila, and Natalie were also strong contenders.
