It took me a long time to land on an opinion of this dress, but I think I’m finally on board with it.
I just couldn’t suss out whether I thought the sequins seemed purposeful enough or a tad half-hearted. In the end I’m going with them being cool, as the gown is very flattering on her (sidebar: She walked past us while talking to someone and her face did not appear to move in normal ways, at ALL), but the whole thing is bit of a Rorschach test. Do you see a skyscraper built up her pelvis to her waist? Do you see a mustachioed blue creature, like a sequined Nicodemus (Nicoledemus), ready to spin hoary wisdom before being crushed? Is something hatching on her torso? Or do you just see a bunch of blue sequins? I just looked up at it again and decided it looks like the tiles on the swimming pool I am going to scream into the universe that I need in my backyard, in the hopes that The Secret is real and something I can abuse for shallow personal gain.
