Well, I think I’m on my own here, but I to me she looks adorable…!! I’ve seen other pictures of this outfit and a couple of close-ups and I think it’s beautiful and completely appropiate for a young, lovely woman as her. Actually, I wish I owned it! Plus, I love the ankle boots… So I picked “Mmm” which, to me, meant “adorable lady + awesome dress + great booties”…
I would say the dress is kicky if I saw it on Ida Maria. On Bilson at a Chanel Show? The shape of the ivory burlap sack up top is surprisingly nice, until it hits Bilson’s breasts and thereupon grows vewy sewious/morbid/confusedly political-and-insolvent community puppet theater puppet dreadlocks. The shoes don’t help matters.
But now, thanks to Rachel Bilson, I’m anxious to see a gigantic puppet performance of “Mutter Courage und ihre Kinder” set in the Las Vegas sewer system in the year 2012.

I like it! Admittedly, I initially tried to envision it without the dangling stringies. But if you take them off, she’ll look like a sofa throw pillow with those fringed edges. So, I embrace the dangly stringies! Sure it’s a little crazy, but it’s also experimental, fun, and not so weird that it detracts from her cute appearance. It’s interesting. Why not?
I have to say, I don’t hate this.
I think I might even quite like it.
It’s Rachel Bilson, after all. She’s adorable and tries to do things a bit differently. I’m going to come out and say that this wouldn’t work on a lot of people, but I’ve decided I do like it! She’s just too cute. This works.
What doesn’t work: ANKLE BOOTIES!
Seriously. Ankle booties work very rarely, and usually with pants of some sort (skinny jeans sometimes work). Usually they just make your legs look like they end in hooves and like they are half the length they are supposed to be. In this particular picture, I can’t even tell if RB has feet… The boots are dark and so is the bottom of the pic, so I just see floating stumps… Plus: booties + cocktail dress = huh?
But I do like the dress on her. It’s very “her” (and a touch weird for sure) and it’s nice to see people wearing something different from time to time.
I like the dress, I think it is interesting & fun… in this picture. I do, however, wonder what it looks like when she moves. I think I’d change my mind if it is super swingy with long strings flying everywhere.
All it needs is a little more SHAPE. A little more definition around the waist; a little tighter, and it’d be more cuteweird than unflatteringweird.
Are you kidding me? This is a burlap bag craft project. A FRAYED burlap bag. Some kid made this at daycamp. And my goodness, I wouldn’t wear my hair that way if my ears were that large. Her head looks like a sugar bowl.
Sorry to get all Perez Hilton on everybody’s ass, but doesn’t darling little Ray-Bils look super happy and confident and sassy in pics ever since she cut loose of emo-Anakin? No question he was/is easy on the eyes and I liked them OK as a couple, but now that she’s single, she looks AMAZING in like 95% of her pics it seems to me.
The dress could be a major distractor, but she’s wearing it, rather than the other way around. She looks like she has this under control.

The dress isn’t awful, but neither is it something I would choose for myself or advise another person to wear unless I had some sort of grudge against her. It doesn’t bother me that it’s white. It’s the sparkly bits, or darker bits (hard to tell on my monitor) that bug me. Totally throws off this Christmas sweater vibe that makes me cringe a little.

I love this & I should probably hate it. Maybe it’s because she looks fresh & healthy…while the same cannot be said for poor Leighton Meester who is starting to look like life hurts.
I actually kind of like it too…as someone just said, it looks as though it would be great in motion. My only complaint (aside from, possibly, the shoes, except that I don’t tend to look at feet, and would probably have missed them if they were not pointed out), would be that the top of the dress seems slightly stodgy with the swingy, glittery rest of it. Maybe if it was a little bit lower cut, or sleeveless, it might be a bit more cohesive.
I have the worst fashion sense so what do I know? Only what looks good on slim, petite girls (being one) and ankle booties DO NOT – whatever the colour and style, and whatever you happen to wear with them.
