Freida Pinto is back on the circuit, and looking pretty damn swell. I like this particular outfit on her, mostly due to the color and the sexy rope neckline. Yes, okay, the waist tie isn’t creating the MOST flattering line for her figure (it makes her look a bit square), and sure, one could argue — and I probably have — that the tassels look like you could yank them and a butler would appear with a tray of champagne and some Tic Tacs. But I ask you: Would that REALLY be so terrible? I like champagne, and after a few too many, I’m sure I’d need the Tic Tacs. Frankly I think it’s very thoughtful of him.

That jumpsuit is glorious and I wish it were just a half inch shorter so I could see more of her lovely red shoes.
Mom always said horizontal stripes were a bad idea and now we see she was right. Even Freida Pinto looks lumpy and awful wearing them.
The last dress is very unflattering but I wouldn’t mind the jumpsuit if only the pant legs were a bit higher and I could see the red shoes she is wearing. Also, all the ‘pearl clutching’ everyone was doing after hearing rumors that her and Dev Patel were dating (when Slumdog had just released) was for naught. They’re all true! She is dating a fetus!
She has such an incredibly beautiful face I can’t even pay attention to what she wears, sorry.
I agree! She’s just gorgeous! Although that last dress was…unfortunate.
Agreed – she’s unbelievably lovely.
She is far too lovely to be photographed in such odd and unattractive outfits. The first is the best of a bad lot, nice color, and just readjust the belt. Then, a jumpsuit that should have been a red-carpet formal dress. Next, her swim suit coverup in wide horizontal stripes. Finally, the last thing defies description. Fancy used Kleenex? A lining in search of an Elizabethan gown?
Overall she looks lovely, as per usual, even with the horizonal hiccup. And how much do I love that Happy Dev is in the background of that first photo, and that they’re still together despite all the Hollywood craziness and age difference and every other reason that should have caused them to break up ages ago? Much do I love it.
Is she maybe pregnant?
I just noticed how much she looks like Evangeline Lilly in the shape of her face and smile. That’s really uncanny. Also, she rocks the magenta, and she’s selling the hell out of that shiny jumpsuit. The others…no, although the top half of the black and white one would be fine as a tank top worn with a solid black bottom. The peach is just awful.
These are ranked in order of badness, right? ‘Cause the first one is lovely (except for the curtain sash belt), the second would be great if it were a dress and not a jumpsuit, the third is a slouchy mess and the last one is a 9th grader’s home ec project.
I second all of this and also agree with the folks who said that she’s way too pretty to be dressed do poorly. Time to either hire or fire a stylist.
I would like to know who’s responsible for dressing this gorgeous woman and turning her into a rectangle every. single. time. A rectangle with a beautiful head atop it, but still.
Well, this little retrospective confirms it for me. The LEAST exciting dresser on the circuit.
The first dress is great … but it’s downhill from there … the jumpsuit is very marginal … and between the crosswalk and litter jokes for the last two, well, those getups are just roadkill.
The magenta dress is LOVELY and I get a whole Padma Lakshmi vibe from Freida in it! I love it!!! I love the shiny fabric of the jumpsuit, but it would have to be pinned, tucked and hemmed in order to even remotely work for her! The zebra dress is FUG, but the shoes are FAB! The last outfit can’t be saved, though!
She is just ridiculously pretty.
She is not just pretty. There’s lots of pretty in Hollywood. I adore seeing her because she is utterly lovely — physically beautiful, yes, and still with Dev which makes my heart warm, she has lovely posture, always smiles and knows how to stand gracefully without looking too posed (Lea Michelle, take note), and to top it all off, she always dresses well and always dresses like a lady.
I adore the first look here. The second look is spectacular though I too am a bit worried about side boob. The third look is not so bad as everyone makes it out to be. She can totally carry horizontal stripes. I just wish that it was full on stripes top to bottom with just a small break at the waist instead of that drop at the waist. But I do love the shoes in the third outfit. The fourth look is not my favorite. I wouldn’t say it is terrible. She can totally wear the color, the satin insets are okay, but it is a draping issue on this dress that makes it not as flattering as it could be. It’s bunching up around the dropped waist where it should just lay flat, leading me to believe it should have been cut bigger (or she should have gone up a size) to accommodate her curves.
For me, she’s another Zoe Saldana in the sense she elevates everything she wears so much, it’s pretty difficult for her to look bad.
Having said that, the clothes here aren’t great. The purple dress makes her look boxy, the striped one pear shaped, and the other 2 are just flat out no, but she’s so stunning that you just kind of ignore it.
Agree with the ZS comparison. They both have that grace/poise/class thing going on that elevates whatever they wear. Also, I LOVE the first dress. Color is TO DIE FOR.
Even with that super-fug final outfit, I am mesmerised by her angelic face.
Lucky bastard indeed!
I think part of the problem is the way she seems to be posed. As affected as some of the red carpet poses can be (the “legs crossed like I have to pee” pose, the “I always keep my elbow cocked at this ridiculous angle” pose), they prevent actresses from standing hip-square to the camera–which can make even the tiniest woman look wide.
She’s disarmingly lovely. To the point where I don’t care what she wears. I just want her to be happy….sigh
um, I would love to look as “boxy” as the purple dress supposedly renders her. Sign me up.
PEOPLE OF EARTH! Horizontal stripes are NOT fattening! It’s a myth. They’re actually slimming. Google ‘Dr Peter Thompson’ and ‘stripes’. This is why everyone looks good in a frenchy striped tee.
Is it me, or is that first dress a MUCH better version of the one Katie Holmes wore to the Emmys???
I find it hard to hate on anything she wears. She’s so gorgeous that I always want to give her a pass.
