And of course, this is the iconic Oscar dress. At the time I rather liked this, thinking it was exactly the splash of daring the Academy Awards needed and that probably only Halle could pull off. Now, she kind of looks like the live-in concierge at a hotel's Garden of Eden theme room. I'm not sure it's holding up that well over time for me, in other words -- and maybe that's because people have pushed it in so many different directions since 2002 that this doesn't seem so daring or surprising. I don't know.
