I don’t know — I just have the hardest time getting excited about Alicia Keys, which extends to anything she wears on the red carpet. Her latest song is called “This Girl Is On Fire,” and I swear, she could borrow Fezzik’s Holocaust cloak and ACTUALLY be on fire and I might still be like, “Eh, let me think about it after a sandwich.”

I hate this dress. It looks ridiculous and it is mucking up her very cute real curves. If anything, it makes her look bigger than she is. These dresses remind me of those tacky tshirts with the bikini body print on them that they sell at the big and tall stores.
Those pants are also a no.
That’s EXACTLY what I’ve always thought too (the bikini shirt part)!!! So glad I’m not alone.
No no no. Start to finish blech. Also, now that song is stuck in my head, and I hate that song too!! Maybe I just . . . don’t like her?? Too much self-realization for a Monday afternoon.
the dress looked horribly unflattering on tv.
The piping on the arm-holes looks like her nude bra straps are on show…oh no.
I’d like the dress so much more without the contouring effect. It’s a great color on her.
She is on my “meh” list. This dress however makes the “Bleah!” list.
STELLA MUST BE STOPPED.
Amen!
STOP STELLA!
We should get T-shirts and hatbands…
with illusion netting cap sleeves, because they flatter no one!
Sorry – that was an AMEN to EB’s post that Stella must be stopped.
Re: Alicia – she’s very pretty but the girl’s got a butt and thighs and I always feel like she dresses in clothes that would look good on someone with a smaller butt and smaller thighs. Nothing wrong with a butt and thighs but surely her stylist can put her in things that downplays them instead of making them larger.
How does this beautiful woman so consistently manage to do these unflattering, unappealing things to herself?
Hate the hair, too.
I am so with you regarding Alicia Keys. I just don’t care about her or her music. Although on the first slide I did think to myself “Well at least it isnt a Jumpuit”…*click*…”Oh god.”
The hair is the worst thing here. Gurl, that is so not your hairstyle.
Right? And her face is a totally classic oval, with flawless bone structure. In theory, she should be able to pull off just about any hairstyle at all.
But this does not work. And it makes her look a lot older than she is, too.
And her hair is naturally curly. It looks OK-ish straight and sleek; if she wore it curly I think it’d be a really awkward length.
And now that song will be forever associated with that dumb Citibank ad. I agree that the green is a nice color for her, if she could find the right dress.
I kind of like the green thing if I squint so I can’t see the illusion netting. Also, when I first saw the green dress pic, I thought, “wow, Aunt Jackie looks great!” Oops. Although, I don’t consider that a dis on either one of them. Aunt Jackie rocked! I think it’s the hair mostly. I like this hair on Alicia though. It’s a nice change.
Such a pretty girl, but such lousy taste in clothes. And McCartney needs to disappear from the fashion world forever for her countless sins against the aesthetic environment.
Word.
Every time I hear this song I think that she must have written it after watching The Hunger Games. Did she really think anyone would hear “this girl is on fire” and not think of Katniss Everdeen? Or is it just me?
I love the song, Girl on Fire. Except for the color, I don’t like the dress.
so much talent, so little dress sense..
That green color looks nice on her. But the illusion netting cutouts look like the dress was too small and just ripped at the seams, leaving wide open gaps. Not a good look.
And that black outfit? Just a big case of NO.
Odd, I kind of like it.
Haven’t we seen this dress in black on someone else? It didn’t look good on her, either. It’s actually just a poorly-thought-out design.
Three things.
1. Stella McCartney definitely needs to go away. Immediately, if not sooner.
2. Alicia Keys needs to hire a much better stylist and/or find a better get a grip friend.
3. Fezzik is awesome and now I want to go rewatch ‘Princess Bride’.
