This is the part of the week where we feel tapped out, like we’ve made every comment that could ever exist about any dress, ever, in the history of dresses. And yet there are always pictures left in our lightboxes, the ones we would glance at and then think, “Eh, I’ll do that later,” or, “I need to think about it,” and then suddenly it’s Friday morning and we just don’t have any gas left in the tank. But in the interests of being as complete as we can, we want to give you RDJ, and Salma, and Paquin, and Michelle Rodriguez, and Emily “Revenge” VanCamp… we just want you to have nice things, Fug Nation. And sometimes a leisurely Friday oglefest is exactly what the Fug Doctor ordered.

I am not fond of these gowns that have a front but have nude paneling on the sides and back. I didn’t like it on Michelle Williams’ dress and I don’t care for it on these dresses here. I don’t quite understand it and I don’t think it is flattering.
As always, thank you for any and all RDJ pics!
I didn’t get it either until I saw Maria Menounounononaaananananaaaaaa’s version–it looks like it’s supposed to give the illusion of nudity, without actual illusion netting, I think? Still don’t like it, but at least it makes a bit more sense to me now. I really liked Mahnamahna’s dress, except for those weird panels. Also, I know it’s unfair of me, but anytime I see a fish-scales dress like the (actually pretty) one Vanessa Hudgens is wearing, I compare it to the one Marion Cotillard wore a few years ago, and it automatically loses.
I love RDJr!!! He looked so handsome… And, soooo funny! When I saw him doing the Tebow pose, I laughed out loud! I also love Emily VanCamp’s dress & shoes… So BEAUTIFUL! WANT! Salma Hayek looked GREAT, but I didn’t like the braid! And, to me Olivia Wilde looked PERFECT! One of my favorites of the night!
I COVET that shiny-patterned Pucci cocktail dress, and have done so since I saw it in the season look-book photo. I am so glad somebody wore it. Extra points for that person being Anna Paquin, who is just weird enough to carry it off.
I really liked Salma Hayek’s, but mostly because it was pretty and looks sooo comfortable. I bet she was like ‘Suckers! I get to eat and sit and drink in this thing and I don’t have to worry about the seams busting!’
Maria’s dress could have been perfect if not for the stupid nude-panel thing. That feature certainly is memorable, but not in a good way. Salma: Why does she fight so hard with her hotitude? She’s an amazingly beautiful woman and here she looks a like a Roman serving-girl dressed up for the big Saturnalia banquet. The Notorious P.A.M. could have hit it out of the park had she done the Crayola 64 test when choosing her dress.
And WTF is up with all those weird-@ss sleeves and/or wispy bits of fabric that look like straps that fell down? Make a choice people: Two of the same straps/sleeves, one of any kind if you MUST do that sort of thing, or none at all. Two mismatched ones are not a bold innovative look. They are a sloppy half-finished look.
I know. I keep thinking of John Singer Sargent’s “Madame X”

Sure, the strap was daring off her shoulder, but the dress looked equally well with it up
That is one of my favorite paintings ever and in it the off-the-shoulder strap makes sense, compared to the Oscars Red Carpet!
I too don’t get the illusion netting/nude paneling of colored dresses. I checked out Maria Lucia Hohan’s website and Ashley Tisdale is definitely having a wardrobe malfunction.
Check out a similar dress (and use the zoom option):

I don’t like it. I also wonder if a dark(er) skinned client comes along, will they find a netting that matches because even on Ashley, the back panel is noticeable…
If I had to choose the dress I liked the best, it would be Emily VanCamp’s but I wish it was actually floor length so it would hide the shoes from view.
Anna Paquin: “I seee…A BICYCLE. It’s at the ALAMO…in the BASEMENT!”
You guys deserve a mini-vacation. Fug Madness will be upon us soon!
I agree. I love the site and would selfishly be bummed if you took a break, but maybe take a 3-day weekend? You totally deserve it (and more!), because that’s a TON of work you’ve done since the beginning of the year. And I don’t even want to think about your schedules with the book(s?) you’ve been writing.
OT: these looks are all sort of “meh” to me. Even RDJ. Sigh.
Paquin looks like a large fancy vase on a millionaire’s patio that should be sprouting fountain grass. Salma makes me sad with her poor choices, again and again and here, also.
Vanessa Hudgens also wore a Maria Lucia Hohan dress recently, with the same weirdness on the sides. What’s up with that as a style statement?

I don’t agree at all about Anna Paquin. She looks stuffy! That dress is for someone twenty years older! And no more hair pulled back! She needs to let it down and wear something more sexy and age-appropriate.
Olivia Wilde looks like she has a snap-on head. That neckring thing makes it look like you could just snap a different starlet’s head onto that manequin body. Let’s play dress up with Olivia today!
Seriously, Olivia Wilde – you are not Olivia Munn. Stop.trying.so.hard.
Is RDJ wearing a cummerbund? I can’t quite tell what’s peeking out from his jacket there.
I think the shade of red that Salma Hayek is wearing was created specifically so she could wear it — it was made for her. Stunning.
I think Lea Thompson’s dress is awesome and she looks awesome in it.
PLEASE NO MORE NUDE PANELS OR ILLUSION NETTING. I just don’t see the point when they’re so obvious. It ruined Michelle Williams’ dress.
Other than the nude illusion panel offence…Dullsville.
This is super late, but I need to say that I love the sh** out of Emily Vancamp’s outfit. I know it’s an awkward length, but it looks just amazing on her. Maybe I have had too much coffee at 10:30pm, but I LOVE IT.
I kind of like P.A.M.’s dress, love the color of Sarah Hyland’s, and agree that Anna Paquin’s would look better without sleeves, or with shorter sleeves.
the first time to be here, but i find your blog a very good place for reading, bookmark it for later reading~~
