This happened pre-SAGs, but we need to go here:
When I first saw this — last week — I thought it was A HOT MESS. But now that I’m coming back to it, I’m not nearly so mad. In fact, I think the whole thing could be saved if it were just a mini-dress. SUCH AN EASY FIX, DREW. Next, we need to do something about your hair…
But what do you think, Fug Nation? Fixable? Put on your styling caps.

I like the ikat print. Chop it at least to the knee if not a bit shorter. Perhaps a different neckline, as well. OR make it a DVF style wrap dress.
Oich! The hair!!!
Something definitely needs to be done to the waistline. Not only is this drowning her in fabric, but I’ve never seen Drew look so much like a rectangle. I think making it a wrap drees above the knee is the perfect solution.
My problem was with the waist too. I was thinking above the knee and add a black belt, black clutch.
Is that a Snuggie?
A CAMO Snuggie!
I like the idea of it, the pattern is fun but it needs to be shortened, then I would add some super fun shoes, a slim belt and take down the hair.
Minidress, fix the fit, add a bold accessory or two, and done. The pattern is definitely a lot of fun- gigantic houndstooth!
In addition to being shorter it also needs a different belt. The self-belt just fades into the dress and leaves Drew looking like a block.
I do not see a belt.
My initial reaction was that she was wearing her jammies.
Actually, I like the hair – I think it suits her face, even if it’s not particularly “stylish”. The dress needs to be a mini, and a pair of kicky shoes, and she’s done!
too. much. fabric. Get rid of 2/3s of it and we may have something to work with. I like the DVF wrap idea. It would work that way.
I think a skinny black belt, a coupla big bangles, and maybe some looser hair and we’re fine. I like this dress as it is.
If we MUST, we could chop the sleeves to cap sleeves instead.
I’m with you. Let’s NOT shorten the skirt.
I was thinking similarly. Long skirt with short or no sleeves OR just accessorize better.
Agreed – belt, bangles or necklace, cap sleeves. Also, in an ideal world,I’d rotate the pattern so the white patches don’t run perfectly down the legs – makes it look like a jumpsuit.
Wow. Now I can’t unsee jumpsuit. And I LIKE it. I have a weakness for jumpsuits. On other people.
it looks like a pixelated horse or flying bird print. ugly.
I’m happy to see her boobs not looking offensive.
You guys need to bring back the scrolldown fug, because that’s totally what this was for me. cute… cute…cute… ok that’s a little long….. WHY IS IT FLOOR LENGTH?!
Hahaha, I had the exact same reaction! I was like “Cute pattern…simple cut…she looks skinny…OH NO, THE FABRIC NEVER ENDS!”
Shorten it, belt it, mess up hair, killer shoes, oversize clutch. Perhaps introduce some aubergine and a metallic with all that.
Hot mess. Can’t be fixed. Always trust your first reaction, Jessica. Love Drew, though.
The problem for me with the floorlength is that the pattern comes down in two vertical strips that almost hint at pant legs. And I know it’s not, but just the hinting at a jumpsuit is making me squirm. I’d love to see this cap sleeved with a fitted bodice and an a-line skirt above the knee, helping to eliminate any allusions to pant legs.
I was so grateful to discover that it was not the jumpsuit it appeared to be at first.
Yes, me too. Ad once I got over the shock of that possible travesty, I kinda embraced the look as is. Even the hair and makeup looks good for her.
I see no viable way to save this camo-tastrophe. She needs to start all over, and do it all differently.
I was going to say the same thing, but wouldn’t have thought to coin “camo-tastrophe”…you win a prize of some sort for that! Congrats.
She accessorized with a rich looker. Win. Society brides have an obligation to kind of look like the cushions on the wicker sofa at the summer house, after all. The cut of the dress is perfect.
I feel like I’m staring at one of those 3-D patterns where if you stare long enough the image will show up. The dress literally looks like it’s fuzzy and moving!! It’s freaking me out!!
Me too!
No, this hurts my eyes. I feel kind of nauseous too…..
Mini-dress, 3/4 length sleeves, cute belt, black tights, tall boots. Bang, a winner!
Personally I would go in a different direction than most of you. I’m thinking jump suit and add a belt. It would keep with Drew’s style and create the dramatic flair that would have her stand out instead of trying to blend in with the twenty something’s of today’s Hollywood.
Needs more skin to break up the HUGE houndstooth. V neck, sleeveless, a bit above the knee. Throw in a black belt and this might actually work.
Seriously, this pattern is so ugly is makes me slightly nauseous looking at it too! Gross is a word I rarely use to describe outfits but it suits this mess.
No. I hate this with the fire of a thousand suns. I cannot even look at the print long enough to make a suggestion re: change. It makes me feel as if something is wrong with my eyes. Begone, evil print!
You can’t fix this Navajo rug; just hang it on a wall.
If this were a mini dress, a strapless mini dress, or a strapless maxi, I’d be on board.
If you use the mouse wheel to scroll up and down quickly on the picture the pattern on the dress looks likes birds flapping.
Um, no. Irredeemable. Hot mess. Ew. Pick an adjective, and then CHANGE.
Don’t change anything except make the flesh-colored parts cut-outs with illusion netting. NOT.
I hate everything about this. The print makes me think of Texas, frogs and birds; I hate the three colors together, hate the length, the boxiness, the sleeves, the hair…
On the plus side, the hoop earrings are okay and her face is cute.
Ahahahahaha! Oh man. I would pay to see the illusion netting version of this.
accessorize: A recliner and a remote – because THAT is a tailored snuggie.
ewwwwww, Drew! Torching that costume is the only “fix-it” I can think of!
I’d make it a skirt, with a black top of some kind … a little ikat goes a very long way … the pattern is in the driver’s seat here …
There’s no way to fix something this atrocious.
Why does this exist on the same planet as I do? I’m pretty sure that I started out on Earth today. This fabric is what you use for feet-pajamas, not for formal wear.
I don’t think I could take this fabric even in a mini dress. Not even in a strapless mini dress. Not even in a pocket square.
I’m kind of digging this. Maybe needs a not-too-thick green belt, but somehow it suits her just fine.
To celebrate the end of deer season she’s off to the hunter’s ball in formal camo.
Let the hair down, cut it to a mini, add a belt, some accessories that clash/pop, but don’t drown out or disappear in the fabric detail. Put on some black pumps, and viola! a semi-improved look to what obviously used to be a seat cover.
I would only accept this as a pencil skirt….. which basically means two other women could have had a fabulous skirt out of this.
It looks like a camo sleeping bag. No amount of snipping, belting or blinging can save it.
Sorry: the pattern is giving me seizures, so I can’t comment at this time.
yeah I really just hate the pattern, it could be save by removing a lot of fabric so she is not drowning in so much pattern but I think I still wouldnt like it.
Drew is so pretty. That dress? Makes her look like a wandering tessellation. Way too much fabric, way too much of that pattern.
Make it 3 inches above the knee. Cut off the sleeves–either short or not at all. Add a belt and some sassy shoes. De-severe the neckline. Maybe that would help. Big maybe.
But Drew is still so pretty.
I don’t know – I’m just so proud of her for pulling her hair back and remembering to wear pants. Well, not pants, but you know. Not tights.
I don’t mind the giant houndstooth print. I would shorten it and nip in the waist or add a belt.
And shorten the sleeves and change the neckline. Actually just re-cut the whole thing and it’s a winner.
Honest to god I thought it was a jumpsuit AND I WAS GLAD. How crazy am I? I would applaud Drew in a jumpsuit — even one that is one sleeveless tunic away from Bea Arthur As Maude — every day for the next year if it means she is edging out of pretending to be a 15 year old, FINALLY. There is something grown up about this look, even if it is grown up wacky astral projection instructor at the community college (remember, I am still talking jumpsuit). I am sick of this 37 year old major hollywood player continuing to act as if she spends her days in the back of her boyfriend’s Chevy Duster smoking Mexican brick weed and weaving friendship bracelets.
And then I realized I am way to emotionally invested in Drew Barrymore’s fashion choices.
I like the fabric pattern, but there’s too much of it! If it were a minidress with cute black or green stilettos, I would be all over this! I wish she had worn her hair down and worn different earrings!
I wonder if she saw the patterned backdrop and was like, “Oh sh*t!” Because although the dress is hideous in my opinion, that crazy busy backdrop isn’t doing it any favors either. A solid color behind her may (just may) have made it slightly less insane, no?
I actually love the cut and the length, but the pattern is like an optical trigger for seizures.
Still an ugly dress, still doesn’t fit her, still looks like she ran out of ideas for her hair. We’ve all see her look stunning. She doesn’t look this bad unless she puts effort into it.
That is WAY TOO MUCH PATTERN! It looks like the dress is eating her!
I would also cut it off around the knee and lose the sleeves. She’d be able to carry it better if we had some limbs to show that she actually ISN’T being digested by this!
I think you are spot on with the cropping of the skirt. If you are going to have that much pattern you need to not be wearing that much of it. It’s a simple rule that should have been learned from Mama Cass.
As a shirt it would be nice. As a skirt it would be nice. As a dress it is a bit disastrous.
Hate the sleeve length, hate the neckline, hate the hair… I like Drew, were’s about the same age and she’s on my short list of celebrity women I’d consider ditching my wife for, but her fashion sense is totally random.
Ugh. Hate it – the dress, the hair, but most of all, that pattern. The pattern looked so blurry that I actually refreshed my screen and put my glasses on thinking that something was wrong with my laptop or my vision. But no, Drew’s face is clear and in focus, so nothing wrong with my laptop or eyes. I can see that she’s laughing to herself about the ridiculousness of her dress.
Either a minidress or the entire fit needs changed. I could see it long if it hugged her curves, but this is just unflattering and poorly fit from the waist up.
I really like it at the length it is — it looks so retro and dramatic. Chopping it off to mini-length would make it so much more ordinary.
There is an issue with the fit through the torso though.
Don’t unfug it, burn it! This is the fugliest fugging monstrosity I have ever seen worn. Ever! HANDS DOWN. Oh, Drew.
Yeah, I just need there to be a lot less of it.
