We can not resist a Royal Wedding of any kind, even when hardly anyone but the two people getting hitched shows up. She’s 22, he’s 24, and NEITHER ONE OF THEM HAVE A WIKIPEDIA PAGE, which to my mind means they’re probably actually just holograms.

Actually, the reason this is low-key is prolly cos Austria doesn’t actually officially recognise titles anymore. I believe it’s even against some law to use your title ( if you’re nobility) officially. It’s one of the various strict laws they influenced after that whole mess of the first and second World War.
Heck, I LIVE in Austria and this didn’t even make the news.
I’m also from Austria and read for the first time there was a “Royal Wedding”.
Thank god we are a Republic! (Even so I have to admit I love the Royal thingy as tourist in GB).
Never heard of these two.
I mean, they _introduced_
Sorry.
I love how Stepanie’s scarf is styled though wouldn’t a color be nice? Also, her stockings make her look photoshopped in. The bride and groom look very happy. Mazel Tov!
I have always loved you ladies, but I love you SO SO SO much for the Rachael Flatt reference.
Luuuuurrrrrrve Adelaide’s dress! Being both seasonally AND event-appropriate is a very difficult thing to do.
Yeah, I do feel compelled to clarify this, just for the record: Austria abolished nobility in 1919. I’m not really sure what he’s supposed to be Archduke of, but he’s not allowed to call himself Christoph *von* Habsburg in Austria. Officially he’s just a rich kid with a colourful family history.
That said, I’m Austrian and I’ve never even heard of him, which would explain why the wedding isn’t a big deal. The last Habsburg who was of any interest died in 2011.
Wow, I never thought I would find another Austrian reading Go fug yourself
I also never heard of him or his bride.
Ha… lots of Austrians here! ;-P
Ha – Austrian ancestors here! I enlarged the picture of bride and groom to check out the wedding dress, which I loved, and spotted the cutest little tot peeking at the side of the dress behind all the other kids. I think the outfits on the children are a cross between Edelweiss and Arabian Nights. Harem pants and boiled wool jackets – right!
I don’t know who they are, but they are adorable. I love the last photo, it looks like it should be in “Once upon a time” TV show.
Aw, they’re so cute! I love winter weddings. But yeah, the flowers kind of look like they came from a grocery store display.
I’m from Austria too, and never heard about a royal wedding happening here before reading this post either
Like the previous poster said, there really is no such thing as Austrian royalty anymore, at least officially. People from former royal families are not allowed to use their titles within Austria (it is indeed forbidden by law), and they have no special political or legal rights. Up until last year or the year before, it was even forbidden for descendants of the former royal family to be a candidate for presidential elections.
Wait, they changed that? I thought it was just discussed.
I love a Royal Wedding, Wiki’ed or not!
The dress is great. I got married 1/31 and had a freaking fur trimmed cape (Thanks MIL!) for some campy pictures that still embarrass me to this day. Her’s is much classier. I also love her diamond hair thingy.
The babies breath kills me. I hate that shit. (Although, it is cute in the girl’s hair.)
“just saw a unicorn” I almost had to buy my work a new keyboard after that. Fortunately for me, I was able to choke down the Cherry Coke instead of spitting it out laughing.
Am I the only one getting a Cousin Matthew vibe here?
No, I can see the Cousin Matthew connection, but maybe you just have dynastic weddings on the brain, LOL!
Maria Teresa’s headpiece is a triumph of the milliner’s art – VERY sculptural and delicate and kind of futuristic. It doesn’t really go with her more traditional outfit, but whatevs. They’re both pretty.
Thanks, H&J, I’m of one mind with Capt. Jack Sparrow on this: I just LOVE weddings!
The groom is the nephew of the Grand Duke of Luxembourg (I think I have that right). The very nice blog Lux-arazzi has lots of details about the whole thing at http://lux-arazzi.blogspot.com/2012/12/civil-wedding-and-more.html.
The harem pants on the pages are hilarious! I would never get my boys to wear them. They put every bad bridesmaids dress to shame.
I love her dress but the fit of the jacket made me sad, and ask, WHITHER, the Royal Tailor of Austria? But today I have learned there is no Austrian royalty. So, mystery of the ill-fitting jacket solved.
Thank you! I thought I was the only one! Royal or pseudo-Royal, there is just no excuse for ill-fitting wedding attire. For shame!
Shoulda been Jenna Maroney.
a better outfit for the kids to go with the tyrolean jackets would have been something more reminiscent of the sound of music.
This answers my head scratching “royal family of where, again?” But I thank them for brightening this post-holiday dreary Monday. And the idea of tipsy Archdukes and Grand Duchesses doing The Macarena or The Funky Chicken in their shirtsleeves is hilarious.
I LOVE winter weddings, well done Austrian non-royalty. The harem pants made me snort a little and the UFO hat? LOL’d. For real.
Happy claps for the uptick in royal coverage here at GFY – after all, aristocrats can be fug too. ROYALS – they’re just like us!
Also, this: “Personally, I feel that if you marry a royal and there are no commemorative coffee mugs, it isn’t legal.”
The woman in the blue UFO thingy is the bride’s sister.
They’re adorable and the winter dress is fabulous. Kinda reminds me of a Snow Queen costume Bridget Fonda wore in the “Snow Queen” movie (except she had this ginormous matching fur hat).
Having worked in a rather pricey flower shop for a number of years I can tell you that baby’s breath is very pretty used like it is in these bouquets. In this case the roses are more for accent than the focus of the bouquet. Don’t judge baby’s breath by the jammed-together discount flowers in the grocery stores!
So, I guess I’m going to be the lone killjoy and say that I hate it when people wear animal fur. At any time. Just because it’s your extra-special day doesn’t mean it’s less gruesome and disgusting. So, hrmmph.
Also, the baby’s breath is ridiculous.
I had no idea these two lovebirds existed, but they are ADORABLE! I love her dress & the diamond headband! And, he looks so dapper! I love Austria! Honestly, Salzburg is one of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever been to… Good for them!
Weddings for ruling royal families are always attended by someone from other ruling royal families, because it is basicly two heads of states being courteous to one another. As has been said before, the Austrian archudkes are no longer that in any legal form which explains the lack of other royals.
But on the bright side, it means the archdukes from austria and the grand dukes from luxembourg are genuine friends and I imagine they have great fun duking it out.
The bride looks lovely. Very fresh. Hubby looks pretty excited, too. Congrats to them
Ugh, I have become soft in my 27 years, haven’t I?
I’ll show myself out…
I precisely had to thank you very much once again. I am not sure what I might have done without these tactics contributed by you on this area. It became a traumatic issue in my position, however , observing a new professional manner you dealt with the issue took me to cry with gladness. I am just happier for your information and trust you comprehend what a powerful job you happen to be accomplishing educating many people through the use of your blog post. I am sure you’ve never come across all of us.

I actually read in a few other places that their wedding was attended by more than 1,000 guests. Don’t know if that qualifies for a “small, intimate do”
I saw one picture of them on a news website, and though it’s harder to see here in these photos, does anyone else think that her veil doesn’t match her dress? In another shot, her veil looks WHITE white, where her dress looks a tad more ivory. A bit glaring for me and you’d think she’d need a better match between veil and dress.
It is said here in Germany that real aristocracy shall always dress a little neglectful to show the commoner that they are above fashion rules… Only doing riding, hunting and those military things they can allow themselves to be dressed up fully and to perfection in the particular “uniform”…
